Simpsons to cut on Disney World in forthcoming episode

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

Cartoon family The Simpsons will take their stab at the Disney theme park empire in a new episode airing on Fox January 5. The animated characters will win a trip to "EFCOT" where they describe just how boring it is.

Well, as the Simpsons series comes to a close after 14 years, it's nice to see them stab as many as they can before they go out.
There going out?
As the article mentioned, this really is nothing new. Did anyone know that Walt Disney had the "evil gene?" ;)

There is no mention the Simpsons are going out after this season. In fact... it is a plain & simple fact that they are currently working on a 15th season as we speak right now, so that's not going to happen.

This episode sounds like a classic if it plays out as the article describes! Too bad I was never in EPCOT to really compare and understand what they're trying to get at. I just like the fact that they poke fun at a lot of things.

This made the Orlando paper as news? Yeesh, slow news day down there...

*gasp* The Simpsons are picking on Orlando's beloved Disney! At least Disney has a sense of humor about it.

jimmybob, anything related to the Parks, or to The Mouse, makes news in FL. We *are* a tourist economy...but it keeps the state income tax away...;)

It's not "news" exactly, that piece was written by the paper's TV critic. I just find it entertaining, because while most Simpsons stabs are subtle, they do from time to time go all out and it's hilarious. I loved Blocko Land.

At least Disney won't sue them like Rio. All that did was draw attention to the episode.
I think that it is great the way Disney is handling this. They are not mad at all and are even going along with it. This should be one good episode.

Theres been lots of talk about The Simpsons being cancelled here either this season or next. I think I read it in a newspaper somewhere that the cast is tired of doing the show and Matt Groening doesn't even work with it anymore.

Hope Im wrong.

I suspect after the way Fox treated Futurama, Groening isn't exactly a big Fox fan anyway...

Awesome news! Itchy and Scratchy land is one of my favorites. (I loved their version Splash Mountain) And no, Simpsons isn't going anywhere for a long time. Groening made a comment last year in an interview about it not lasting more than another year or two, and the fans really pounded him (not literally), so much that he made a public retraction. (I think Groening responded in their show last year...remember their spoof of Billy Joel's "We didn't start the fire" last year saying "No need to fear, we have stories for years")

I hope your right Peabody.

Simpsons is literally my favorite show, I would really miss it.
I wish they would release the DVD box sets a little closer together, they only have two out.

I saw a preview for it, it looks very funny.

Even if they do cancel the show, it will still be on the air for a while, just look at Seinfeld!

I am glass Disney was able to get a laugh about it. That shows there are no hard feelings.

GregLeg, Futurama was a great show, too.

John Peck, I think the third season is actually supposed to come out in January, but I might be wrong.

This is just my personal opinion, but I think the Simpsons will keep going as long as there is as big of an audience as there is right now. Everybody loves the Simpsons.

As the old saying goes (or something like it), any press is good press.
