Six Flags Great America announced yesterday that Shockwave would be dismantled and sent elsewhere to make room for their 2003 attraction. Shockwave was chosen to take the fall after public outcry forced them reconsider the removal of Whizzer.
According to posts in the CoasterBuzz forums, B&M track has arrived at the park and sits waiting in the employee parking lot. The most popular rumor is that the track is for a flying coaster.

Well said SFGAMNUT!! I agree that it is going to be a clone and they are probably just going to plop it down on the land where SW is now. It is amazing how much of a difference ownership makes. CP keeps finding room and builds one major attraction after another.
I am really hoping that there is some grand scheme and that they are planning on reworking that entire area of the park with a themed area. If they go down that path they can fit a few coasters there.
Then again this is Six Flags so I better slap myself and wake up.

Don't get me wrong SFGAMatt, I am very happy that they are getting a new coaster. I just hope that since they are going to tear down SW they reallocate the space so that they won't have to tear down another coaster for a number of years.
"This makes me sick! Leave it to Great America to do something that stupid. The Six Flags Parks are run by a bunch of Big Fat slobs who only care about having the "newest and most high-tech" pieces of crapola around. Now watch it will be an EXACT clone of S:UF, it won't be unique at all and within probably 5 years or so there will be clones of this at atleast 10 parks. Great America really could use some new owners, I wish Cedar Fair would buy the park."
and then you have the nerve to tell *me* to lighten up? Now that's funny!

NewYorkSuperman - theres got to be some place within GE that it could go. They park owns alot of land that still has yet to even be touched.
Where? They're bordered by Route 9 to the west, Glen Lake to the east (over the hill the Comet sits against), Round Pound Road to the south, and *protected* wetlands to the north! I'd love to know where all this land you speak of is...

Waiting for the CP announcement to be made so that about 1000+ posts will be made complaining about it.
Does anyone think it's possible that Shockwave could end up at Enchanted Village? (Six Flags Seattle) They really, really need some coasters and I think Shockwave would be well received.

84 coasters and counting
Astroworld = won't fit (anything large added to this cramped park will need to be custom designed)
Kentucky Kingdom = won't fit (ditto, this place is pretty well maxxed out expansion wise)
Elitch Gardens = ditto
Enchanted Village = maybe, I'm not real familiar with this one, but the park has a pretty small footprint
Fiesta Tx = possibly (goodbye SBNO Joker's Revenge)
Jazzland = possibly (and helps satisfy SF's legal obligation to expand the place)
The drop was smooth and The exit from the chain was extremely smooth other than that it was pretty rough. Still an awesome ride it's only flaw was the mcbr decelleration.
Next year I will finally swallow my pride and use fastpass.

First off, to answer a question many moons ago, Shockwave = bad roughness. Demon was, and still, undoubtedly is, much less rough (less inversions, but my guess is the small amount of turns...)
Sure, they can reuse the queue itself, but I'd be a slight bit disappointed. That thing is really unscenic/clausterphobic depending on where you are. The station itself looks worse than pretty much any other station SFGAm has, so there's no WAY that's staying. Our S:UF will most likely get a brand new one, and, if we have it our way, grass/paint for the surroundings.
That said, I'm still not convinced that S:UF is going there. I still have a small amount of doubt, but my theory is, unless something else takes up that space between Shockwave and B:TR, the flying coaster will. Seeing what they're doing to that area, I'm convinced that something is going to happen there, and soon.

Let's also add that The Demon is more of a less intense and painful looping coaster that beginner or intermediate coaster riders can enjoy. ShockWave is WAY up there in terms of intensity and roughness.
Plus, nobody can argue that it isn't a crap ride. If they do, it's either a biast, certain odd intimate connection with the ride, or something sick.
I didn't realize Whizzer was a wooden coaster.... ;)
Who knows where's SW's headed? It should bring new appeal to its future home, and congratulations to SFGAm on the new coaster!
