SFNO's Batman being dismantled

If Batman is being dismantled, do you think the rest of the rides and coasters might be on there way out too?

^It depends if they are worth removing due to their condition.

I think many of the smaller and flat rides are so damaged by the flood, they will just get totaled out.

Now I may be an idiot, but there is one thing I am not, sir, and that sir, is an idiot. ~ Peter Griffin

Well the sticky wicket is the fact that - afaik - only Batman and Jester are owned by Redzone, the rest of the pre-SF rides are all owned by New Orleans. Whether they'll sell those for scrap is unknown.
At this point I am kind of confused, I thought that the rides and all additions to the park which includes Batman remained sole ownership of the New Orleans Economic Board which leases the land if the lease is broken. SF would have to walk away empty handed. So how can SF remove a ride that actually belongs to the city. The lease must be pretty rock solid or SFi would have wiggled out by now. A lot of the rides are sub leased through their own companies such as the S & S towers, and I don't believe they will re lease them again but total them in place. I also wonder how long SF can keep recieving Business interuption payments without making a attempt at rebuilding the park. Your thoughts

Yeah I live on the northshore too and lived at Six Flags New Orleans. Every summer I travel the country hitting up parks and always complained when I was at SFNO. Now I miss it.

it's always unfortunate to see a park go. hopefully someone will build a new park there or in the area
^^^True but SFI purchased B:TR from another park, the city of NO did not....same thing goes with Jester as SFI already owned that particular coaster for years & simply had it moved from one park to another.
I might be heading there tomorrow and ill try to take some pictures

I just want to say what is so wrong with Batman the Ride going to Fiesta Texas. I don't understand how Sea World plays into this it all. I would never want to go to Sea World because it just seems like a bad and boring place for me. It has animals, and is more focused on shows than anything else. It has only 3 roller coasters or something.

While Six Flags Fiesta Texas deals with rides including roller coasters, and of course has some flat rides. If you go to Sea World, I guess you wouldn't care if Fiesta Texas would be getting it, but I just don't understand why Six Flags couldn't get one too. On top of it, if your Six Flags, you can show the competition that we have one too, so why in the heck go to Sea World.

Ummm...wow. Where do we start here. You have basically just said that outside of rides that nothing else is enjoyable at a park. That's just kind of sad and please correct me if I'm wrong.

Let's start off with the first thing you said about Sea World being bad. From the moment you walk-up to the entrance plaza, you know that there is something special waiting beyond. Sea World does have animal shows, but I wouldn't describe the one I saw as being boring at all. It was very hi-tech and featured lots of lighting and loud sound. You don't always have to be strapped-in to be entertained.

Sea World does have three coasters with the Mack Supersplash on the way. They also have a log flume and white-water rapids ride. You say that they only have three coasters like it's an awful thing. Should I remind you that Knoebels will only have three this year and Holiday World has three coasters that adults can ride?

So another Batman might not be your cup of tea? Well then, Steel Eel is the reason to visit. Morgan made one of the best junior-hypers ever to grace this planet. It proves that size doesn't matter, and while Steel Force is the only Morgan hyper I've ridden (so-so), Steel Eel was all that and then some.

As far as the competition angle, again you're looking at it from an enthusiast angle. A family, for example, doesn't make the decision to go to Fiesta Texas or Sea World based on one ride. They decide based on the family's needs, interests and finances.

It is again somewhat surprising that you're wanting Six Flags to get a Batman. It would be a listless addition to the park as it wouldn't be a marquee attraction.

Hmm, ya think B:TR is going to end up back in Asia as "Phaethon" @ Kyongju World in Korea?

The concept art for their "NEW" coaster looks awfully like a B:TR clone.

Considering what kind of wild weather NO is prone to, I don't know. Plus, I'm sure the other companies are seeing the trouble SF is having in getting out (and I agree with the podcast; considering pre-Katrina attendance and the current state of NO, SF would be crazy to want to rebuild), and might not want to put themselves in that same predicament.

My husband is from NO and thinks the city should take SF's offer and let them go. Best for all concerned. No way that park's being rebuilt.

^I agree that there's just no way that the park is being rebuilt & it's best to just salvage what they can.

Hope you had a happy new year & now that we're finally into 07 it brings us that much closer to opening day....still gotta get my season pass though.

Speaking of opening day does anyone know when SFA's opening day/weekend is? PKD's is set for 3/31/07 but I havn't heard,or seen anything regarding SFA's opening day so far.

The park's open for Spring Break, April 6-13, so I'd think it's that weekend. I'm planning to get my passes soon and be there on 4/11.

Any bets on whether TSC will be up?

By then we'll likely know about SFNO's Batman.

I actually went to Six Flags last weekend and I pictures of the park. Batman is gone except the trains are still sitting out. Mega Zeph looks no different. I wil try to get a link on them eventually. I am sorry.

^^So far I've not heard a peep about the fate of TSC yet.I guess we'll know for sure come memorial day weekend as the water rides usually tend to open up when HH does.

I'm still hoping it stays & that they can get it running for the 07 season<it's tenth anniversary> as I'd really hate to see it go.

As for B:TR no word yet on where it's going eh? I wonder why they left the trains behind?perhaps there might be truth to the rumor of it being shipped overseas & new trains will be added then although word has it that SFI wants to keep the ride in the chain somehow.

Rumors from screamscape say SFA is out of the running (but TSC is suppose to be "fixed"), and SFKK already announced their 07 plans. Doesn't leave too many other SF parks in the running, come on SFDK!
^ Seriously, stop talking about parks that have SLC's. To suggest that Six Flags would place a B:TR clone in a park that currently has an SLC is completely rediculous. Most of their guests wouldnt even be able to tell the difference.

^ Who said anything about SFDK keeping Kong if they did get this? Has been mentioned many times before, would be a great opportunity for a higher tierd SF park to replace their POS SLC with a much superior quality invert. So excuse me for wishful thinking that my SF park might be one of these, sheeez!

Why spend money to dismantle Kong and replace it with a Batman clone when most guests won't know the difference. That is still the stupidest thing I have ever heard.

2012 SFGAm Visits: 26 2012 Season Whizzer Rides: 84 X Flight Rides: 91

^ Why? Maybe because this would be a cheap opportunity for them (or any higher tierd SF park for that matter) to replace a expensive maintenance nightmare POS that's broken down more than it's open with a much better quality invert for a fraction of the cost? That for a change a park like SFMW could have a invert that guest would actually be excited to return to the park to ride? That it would be the largest invert in NorCal and blow away anything else in this competitive market?

The GP isn't as stupid as you think I or they are. They can absolutely tell the difference between Kong and Top Gun here in NorCal, the ride experience is completely different between the 2 and I have yet to hear anyone say they prefer Kong. The only thing they have in common is they're invert coasters, that's it! So before you go around calling people stupid for their opinions, get your facts straight.
