SFNE's Management: Good or Bad?

What are people's opinions about how SFNE is run and how they are for customer service? I think they tend to be nicer when they are only operating on the weekends.

Is Tim Black still GM?

Note: Tim was GM for Wyandot and one of the Texas SF's for a while. The 5' 4" man is quite a nice individual)

yes he is

Sure Cedar Fair is the darling of the industry, can't do anything wrong, and CP is indeed awesome.

Six Flags is the ugly duckling of the industry, can't do anything right...except that SFNE keeps getting better and better! and SF keeps adding coasters year after year throughout the chain.  Six Flags may be a joke, but it's our joke, and you have to love it!

I don't want this to end up in a flame war, but I would like to share my opinion on SFNE. Most of my friends know what I think about that place, so I won't go into specific details.  However, the one and only time I was there was enough to not make me want to go back again. I had the worst park experiances that one day, then I have had at all the other parks I have been to......combined.

Perhaps I went on a bad day? To all that have had a great day there, congrats. I hope the park treats you with great respect in the future. Sadly, for me, it didn't. I would love to ride Superman and the new B&M, but at the same time, my experiance at that park was bad enough that I really see no reason to return, unless I don't pay a dime inside, or out.

The customer service the day I was there was horrible. I had a list of valid complaints that I wrote out. While the woman that talked with me was nice about it, it seemed that the serious problems I addressed to her didn't mean much because I was offered an exit pass (which I gladly declined) instead of a idea on how to fix the problems.  The way I look at it, an exit pass may be a nice gesture, but it won't fix the problem. All I wanted to hear is something like, " Sorry sir, we will see what we can do about it." instead of hearing, " Oh yea? Here is a pass!" If she would have understood my complaints and realized I didn't want to go back into the park, she may have realized that offering an exit pass to someone that doesn't want to go back into the park is probably a bad idea.

Enough of my ranting.  Have fun at the park folks! I am sure everyone has had a bad day at a park so you can probably relate a bit.

Sean F., that seems like a rare experience from my standpoint. I go to SFNE at least three to four times a year, and I have never had a bad customer service experience. Given there has been a lot of rowdiness in the superman line, but SFNE always seems to deal with it well.
SFNE has a reputation as a sub standard park, and it has to be deserved from somewhere.  To pretend like the park doesn't have problems is just denying yourself the facts.  Let's look at just a few:

The waterpark is crowded as hell, and is one of the biggest draws in the park.  The thing needs to be expanded ASAP to keep the guests in there happy.  Sorry, but waiting shoulder to shoulder for long periods of time just for a water slide does not make for happy guests.

The treatment of employees is ridiculous.  I have seen many spcific cases of ageism and sexual harrasment documented from the park.  I have no idea whether this is unusual in relation to other SF parks, but what i have seen has been bothersome.  SFNE's treatment and pay for internationals has been completely deplorable.  Email me if you want the details of that.

The park has refused to take care of its tram system, despite the need for it considering the size of the parking lot across the street.  How many trams were running at the beginning of the season?  How many at the end?  Exactly.

I could go on.  I may later if you guys would like to hear more.

Hmm I'm like 99% sure Tim Black is gone.. I think they guy who was the GM of Warner Bros World Germany? Is SFNE's new GM.... I know his name but just can't think of it! Can someone help me?
I feel that the Customer Service is very poor if you compare it to it's neighbors.  I.E. Lake Compounce seems to have its act together as well as Canobie.  I think SFNE should look at them as a benchmark to improve its hospitality
Both lake compounce and cedar pint have great customer service but the best employees are at disney world
Sean.....you probably went there when it was Riverside huh?

That was great! It was no SROS though...
Tim Black is now general manager at SFGAdv, actually.

SFNE guy,

I went there last year actually. I never went there when it was Riverside. Perhaps I did go on a rare day, but that still doesn't mean I should have been treated the way I did. I could easily list 10 things right now that happend that day that would probably make a lot of people ticked off just reading.  However, I don't see the point in doing that right now. I directed my complaints to what I thought was the best way possible.

well I go there at least 10 times in a season not counting the times ive been there since 1997 I have never been treated badly....You definetly came on a bad day...
Honestly Sean, I would like to hear what happened, and if any of those things line up with what else i have heard about the place....

Alot of stuff happens at SFNE that really would not be fair to put on a public board.  Everybody has a story, and Sean's experience is not unusual.  What is unusual is his reaction.

I do not go to the park for someone to kiss my butt.  I really could care less about "guest relations".  I just want the rides to be open with short lines.  And SFNE has been improving with three new coasters over six years.  That is the important thing.

look....maybe 2000 was a bad year for SFNE I mean, it was the first year as an SF give the park a chance cause this is now turning into a SFNE bash forum!

Many of you still don't realize that Premier Parks owned Riverside, Geauga Lake, and Darien Lake for about 4 years Prior to BUYING Six Flags.
Bashing SFNE/Riverside isn't anything knew.  The parks has a long list of problems, and until they are resolved, it will always be a sub par park.

And JBD:  Your veiw of parks is pretty limited if you really believe that.  That's fine if all you care about coasters, but the vast majority of the people on this board, and the vast majority of the general public aren't going to be happy if they aren't treated well in a park.  If coaster are all that matered, then parks would just plop a bunch of coasters into a parking lot with nothing else, and leave it at that.
