SFKK 2003 addition update

I was at the KY State Fairgrounds today on an un-related note and drove right by the area in question at SFKK.

Indeed there are a number of flagged stakes present stretching from the Tin Lizzie's auto ride, behind Roadrunner Express and continuing back behind the Skycoaster at the front corner of the park.

The stakes are arranged in two paralell straight lines. In other words, it forms a long narrow plot of land. Take that for what it is worth. The layout of the potential footers appear to run paralell with the road that runs through the middle of the park and will be about 10-15 feet from the barrier fence. Whatever it *may* be is compact, long, and falls right in the line of rides that were allowed to top the 150 foot height restriction.

My guess? If I had to predict.... Viper from SFOG. And if it indeed turns out to be Viper, I will be one heck of a happy guy. SFKK my just bump up a notch from the bottom of my heap if they restore a Schwarzkopf classic. But my second guess would be that blasted Intamin Impulse that has been rumored for sometime.

My suspicion leads me to believe that the entrance to the attraction will be located where the trampoline bungee is now. And the station will be very close to the Tin Lizzies entrance. I suspect the high point of the ride will be placed behind the skycoaster, with the other end fairly close to the pedestrian bridge for the "Oooh, Aaaah" factor.

I am thinking this is for the orange intamin track that was spotted a week ago in Missouri. I am thinking an impulse would fit nicely.

The real reason I am now thinking the Impulse (other than the *trackspotting*) is that the folks from SFoG say that "Viper was having some pretty serious maintenance issues". Overall, BOTH are darn fine rides, and SFKK would be fortunate to get either one...the park took a major leap in my judgement this year due to ops, cleanliness, friendliness, and wooden coaster maintenance, and an Anton or an impulse wouldn't hurt a BIT....

Either one would be a nice addition to Kentucky Kingdom, though a shiney new impulse would certainly be more marketable for them. You'd really rather see the old drop-weight shuttle loop?
This might not be relvent to anything, but I do know that SFOG's Viper doesn't have a clutch. PGA bought it and put it in Tidal Wave. They got it cheap, the leaves me to belive that Viper might not be going to SFKK.

If it is an Impulse it would have to be a clone of SFMW's Impulse with the 45 degree spike. I have heard that was a fun imporvement to the ride. Becasue of height restrictions this would probally be the most fitting impulse style there.

Viper from SFoG isn't going anywhere that I know of. Last I heard, it's sitting in the employee parking lot rusting away.
Wouldn't that send the coaster somewhat through the waterpark and close to the Giant Ferris Wheel??? And I know it was a Boomerang Coaster(Vampire) but with all the trouble they had with it, would they wanna take a chance with a Shuttle Loop???
No, the survey markings are on the other side of the road, in the front half of the park. The waterpark and ferris wheel are in the back.
So its either going to be Viper or an Impulse?

Coaster Counter: 85+...I need to sit down and figure it out :)

That's what we're lookin' at anyways. But as mentioned before, the height restriction there is a factor in them considering Tidal Wave (sorry, your dealing with a Marriott guru!). There has also been recent talk of Shockwave showing up there, but where a 170' megalooper would fall into play is beyond me! Tidal Wave stands a mere 138', whereas your standard Impulses are closer to 180' (though they could still conceive a decent model at 150'). Of course I'd kill to have TW 3 hours away! Plus the thought of an angled Impulse doesn't do anything for me. Marineworld's V2 just isn't as enjoyable as its vertical cousins, IMO.

When I worked at SFKK, rumor was that a part of the park (by what was Vampire) didn't have a height restriction because the air traffic didn't fly that way? That is my understanding. Things may have changed though!

They could build an Impulse if they wanted to at SFKK. The sky coaster is 185 feet, and Hellevator is 175 feet tall, both are right around the area that this new coaster could go.

I drove by and saw the stakes from outside the park, they do seem to be pretty wide apart, which makes me wonder if Viper's footers were that wide or not? Then again this may not even be for the footers, maybe just the outline!?

Or maybe it's a bathroom....

Im sorry to have to say this but SFKK is my home park, and I DONT want some old one-loop rollercoaster. I mean I keep hearing how great it is and all but if it was your park and you hadent had a decent rollercoaster since 1996. Then you would want the next one to be some old coaster from another park. Personally I feel that SFKK owes it to there regular guest a new exciting rollercoaster, especially since all they keep putting in our upcharges!

And I know for a fact that the height restriction on that side of the park is 300ft. The restrictopn gets lower and lower as you get closer to the airport. So they could definatly fit a Impulse in there.

I would think impulse, but then, where will Viper end up?

Robbec, please don't start complaining 'bout that, I'd be overjoyed if Viper came to SFEG.

I talked with the Dippin' Dots guy and he assured me that Cedar Point was to get that 10-inversion terra-woodie-invert-stand-up because Magnum is sinking. The current construction is for the new super-Dippin' Dots stall he is to run.

Vampire was a problem? Is operates well @ SFNE!?

1. S:RoS @ SFNE 2. Yankee Cannonball 3. Cyclone/B:TDK

RCfan13, if it ends up being the bathroom you speak of, then I'll be driving the 3 hours just for that! And we all know how SFKK has been holding out on many repaints, so perhaps that is enough dough to afford an Impulse! I just don't want to see an old friend, especially one that is still in good condition, fade away. I've lost her twice as it is! :(

Wow, now THAT makes even Gravity Max seem like a walk in the park....

There's no guarantee that Viper is going anywhere, it was used when Georgia got it even.
