SFGAM's Future

Thats exactly what I think sawblade. While they are completely different, I dont think its an even swap. I would much rather have a floorless like medusa. They are pretty even. I think a tall twisting medusa would look much more impressive to the gp than a 100 ft flying coaster.

To those people who don't think Shockwave for a B&M Flyer is a good swap, think about it a different way. Not just physically. I would assume that people give Superman: Ultimate Flight better reviews than a rough, overgrown, poorly-designed arrow-looper.

I got kicked off, but I'm back!

Who cares about stats? If they get a flying coaster, I'd say it would draw many more people than a floorless. I'd be willing to bet some people would look at a floorless and say "I rode that last year, and I'm never riding it again."

But maybe not. Who knows?

TOGO!

I think it's unbelievable that they're not adding a tera. I mean they have the room there! A piddly little B&M flyer will not attract anyone. Only tera's will. They will learn soon enough.

Only?

Legendary,

What are you talking about...adding a tera? to SFGAm? Where according to the agree ment that they have with the village of Gurnee limits them to structures no taller that the Sky Trek tower which is 310 ft tall?

How would you propose they do it? Build a tunnel that goes 100ft underground (not a bad idea - if you ask me) but then there would be people arguing whether or not it is a tera because it only goes up 300 ft...even though the drop would be 400.. ;)

I said this in another thread but Ill say it again now that I have read that. SFGA has been watching PGA for ride placement ideas, think about it they tore down the same ride (Sky Whirl) and placed the same thing PGA put in that spot just bigger, it even sits in the same direction. And isn't the drop ride in the same spot or very close to where Drop Zone sits? If Yankee Clipper isn't even really running much anymore why wouldn't they just follow PGAs example and dismantle it for a Flying coaster (no it doesn't need to ba a Vekoma) but there is enough room to go bigger than SUF

Why would SFGAM dismantle the Yankee Clipper for a Flyer? If they would put a flyer in Shockwaves plot they won't dismantle the Yankee Clipper.

Hehe, redman, my post was poking fun at sawblade's comments. Come on, you know I'd never say that stuff with a straight face don't you?

NICE MEETING YOU AT PKI SAWBLADE!

If they tore down the Clipper they won't loose a coaster as good or as bad as shockwave may be Im sure no one would complain if it was left where it is

I don't think we need to worry about the theming at SFGAm. There are a lot of people in charge there who want to keep it as close to Marriotts as possible. Thats why Yankee didn't get a Gotham makeover, and why V2 isn't Superman. While I don't think that we're going to see a major themed explosion like SW Terr. under the current SF (Premier) leadership, I'm not worried about losing any theming. The plans for the B&M Flyer at HT Square were such that the area wouldn't be ruined or overwhelmed with a clashing theme.

While the public outcry did keep Whizzer, the axle breakage on Shockwave made the desicion easier, as Shockwave IS NOT a well liked coaster by the higher ups at the park.

what if they rethemed orleans place as metropolis that would suck even though there is a metropolis illinois.

Burn in Hell
Shockwave you Nazi
(the first drop was awesome) other than that uhhhhh good riddance

I had an idea. Keep Orleans Place. Knock down the building where Shocwaves Q is. Make a midway path from there making a bridge over the road into where shockwave is now. Now that would be metropolis. Keep orleans place make a new themed area.

On mapquest i took an overview of the park and i found that a B&M whatever, a 4 tower S&S drop ride a huss giant topspin or frisbee and a wild mouse would all, yes all, fit.

I then went to RCT and found a SFGAM recreation and made it like i saw it. I made a superman B&M floorless, the top spin is lex luther like WBMW, the wild mouse is called krypton coaster, and the S&S tower is called Doomsday's Blastoff.

Now i know this would probably take several years b/c 6f treats us like crap compared to other parks. But if this was made then we would finally have something that rivaled SW territory for ride quality/ theming.

You've got to be joking me... SF treats SFGAm badly? There's a new one.

RCT is NOT a measure of an area's capacity for rides...

Six flags doesnt give our park as nearly as many coasters as the other high attendance parks. Chicago has been treating SFGAM good this year, I am expecting attendance to be well over 3,000,000 for the first time. We are due for something big, and this would be a way for them to give back.
LOL! SFGAm gets new coasters as often (if not more) than any other Six Flags park. We've gotten Viper, Raging Bull, Spacely, V2, and Deja Vu in six years - not many other Six Flags parks compare to that (after the initial Six Flags conversion), maybe only SFGAdv and SFMM. I find it ridiculous that anybody would whine about living near SFGAm when it's easily the best of all the SF parks.

Jeremy, you have a good point, for sure. Premier hasn't been the only one to "destroy" Mariott's original theming, but it seems (at least to me) that Time-Warner actually cared. Sure, Condor and Shockwave don't really fit in Orleans place but (again, IMO) they don't stick out as an eyesore in a themed area like V2 does. Maybe it's just an anti-Premier attitude on my part, but I can't ignore the fantastic job Time-Warner did with SW Territory.

Finally, why are people so stuck on SFGAm getting an S&S tower? Hasn't anyone ever heard of Giant Drop (which is nowhere near where PGA's Intamin tower is, btw).

-Nate (who couldn't be happier that Shockwave is GONE)

Where is it then man the picture I saw made it look like it was back there

PGA's drop tower would be located just in front of American Eagle's queue line, about where the Ameri-Go-Round is. Remember that Southwest Territory is a SFGAm-only thing; that land at PGA is not PGA's property.

Spacemountain,

Shockwave is "not liked by the higher ups" because of the ride it gives or because of other issues, such as maintenance? Please clarify.
