Check that out. That is in SFGAdv. Do you thinks SFGAm will have one of these signs posted anytime soon?

My understanding for a racing coaster was one entrance, one coaster!

Interesting theory as that would eliminate DDragons, Rotting Lumber, Gwazi and Lightning Racer even though the two sides of each of these coasters is different. Well to each his/her own...

Has anyone considered this? Think about the costs involved in changing the location of the new coaster. All of the supposts which are already ordered and being fabricated have to be change to longer ones becaues instead of the Whizzer location with terrain meaning some shorter supports they now need full height supports under the whole coaster. A change this big would cost big $$. I think they planned on using teh SW space the whole time. GAm announces the Whizzer is coming out. They know they *can't* take it out because of its historic signifigance. Both to teh park and nationally. Its the only one like it in the country and its original to the park. A week after they announce its coming out they recant and say it will stay due to public outcry and getting a ton of e-mail and letters. How many letters could they have gotten in 1 week? sure a lot of e-mail, but the letters would have been that big that fast most likely. So they just say we'll put it somewhere else, knowing full well that they were going to put it in SW place the whole time. They didn't want to announce the SW place because of the complaints they would get from people complaining about the looks of the park being changed. I agree that SW looks awesome as you walk in, but as a ride it terrible. If they did a complete rebuild of it with snoother track it would kick major a$$. but that not an option.

Thinking that under Antuan's definition, only mobius coasters would count. And while I don't consider DD or Gwazi to be racing, since their layout is more of a dueling nature. The PoS in Joisey, which I HAVE seen race, doesn't ordinarily do so, and runs so horribly it really doesn't matter either way. But LR is most definitely a Racer, by my accounting at least...

And why should one trust you? Oh Great Bull Fan, what knowledge can you bequeath on us, and more appropriately, what sources wilst thou reveal upon us that maketh us trust you?

:)

What was this thread about anyway? It's been so long that I forgot......

Coaster Art of your Favorite Coasters
Coming Soon.....

FYI - Just drove by the park this morning on my way to work. More track has arrived via flatbed trucks. Saw them unloading curved sections of track. To me it looked like it may be the track for the Pretzel Loop deal. Just wanted to give an update.

Hey, when I say "trust me," you can trust me.

1)Statements from park officials have talked about the new attraction for 2003.

2)Its too expensive to put two full circuit coasters in a park in one year. There's no real precedent.

3)Rumors would be floating around like crazy if two coasters were coming in next year.

While I believe Superman is the only coaster coming to Great America next year, it is not beyond Six Flags' power to add more than one full circuit coaster in a year. Check SFA, SFMW, SFWoA, SFoT

I, am nobody, and nobody is pefect!

They could get a gigi woodie for pretty cheap but that is highly unlikely. If I ever get rich enough im putting a small gigi woodie in my backyard. :)
antuan add mm and gadv to that list

Actually they were referring to Shockwave being taken down for the new attraction for 2003. If another coaster went somewhere else, they would not have mentioned it. :)

Antuan, when did SFA ever get two full circuit coasters in one year? SFMM did however..well sort of...hey they *tried*!

and calvin, you need not change the supports just to fit the location. You could just make really massive footers. Dont believe me? Look at Mind Eraser and S:ROS @ SFA. Those things are on stilts! It looks like when someone steals all your tires and leaves it on concrete blocks.

jeremy, SFMM succeeded, sort of....a partially-operating X and the "Giant among kiddie coasters"....SFA, on the other hand, got the Great Chase AND Joker's Jinx in the same year as Two-Face (that's two AND a shuttle)....or don't you count "kiddie rides"....;)

Could six Flags retain their permit for Shockwave and potentially build a coaster over 125 feet under the same permit or would they need a new one?

I mentioned the exact same thing pages ago. Since the height variance was granted for Shockwave, they could essentially put a coaster as tall or shorter in Shockwave's place and not need another height variance.

The flyer wont be near that height though.. 125 feet at the most...

I hear a train a comin'
Comin' round the bend :P
TR2k3....GET READY!

I'm not quite sure that's how it works, Chris. If they removed Shockwave and planned on a coaster over 125ft, I'm *pretty sure* they would need a new permit for that new coaster.

Anyone else know more about that? Unless I missed something 12 pages back, lol, I think that's how it is.

Not that it matters anyway, we all know this new attraction won't need a permit.

-----------------
It tastes like burning.

And if it.. *did* need a new permit, SFGAm would have no problem getting it approved.
