Well that's TWO STRIKES right there! RGW, I think all that Florida "sunshine" has gone to your head and messed things up in there. SW is infinitely more enjoyable than GASM-II. Dont take my word for it. Take my "GP in Tow" 'T'. She was willing to ride GADv's *VIPER* twice, but wouldnt touch GASM-II if I paid her! 'Nuff said.
Frankly, with all the GOOD coasters at SFNJ and SFIL, you really would have to pay me to ride either of those....I thought SW was a bit better in terms of the AMOUNT of headbanging, but I hurt my head more on the restraints....they were HARD, ouch! Viper throws you around at least as much, but the restraints weren't made of that same rock-hard material...as for "enjoyable", those are OTHER coasters, lol.
And I *still* dont get what y'all complain about with Raging Bull's brakes, especially since you like Goliath. If Big Gs MCBR is "anything" like Titan's, I dont wanna here you say yit about brakes
The Big G does clamp down on the MCBR's doesn't it? I can only *imagine* how good the ride was before they set that sucker to "stop the train". Even still, the positive g's on Goliath during that helix are awesome, and the only real reason I keep Goliath in such high esteem. As for RB, it's not the MCBR (where I expect to get braked), it's the unlimited trim brakes scattered VERY liberally throughout the ride, just in case the train starts to pick up speed. Much like Timbers, the level of anticippointment was just too high. If you're gonna build them BIG, please run them HARD.....otherwise, you just have a GIANT kiddie coaster....BAH!
Anyway, I hope that they at least only use a "portion" of ShockWave's space for the flyer, leaving a little room for another attraction. Maybe a HUSS Delrium themed to Swamp Thing, who coincidentally *was* cajun...(if it has to be DC at all...)
If you missed my theory for the theming of GAm's flyer, you missed some good comedy.....

Besides, to get inside your skull, we just need to forcce you to marathon on any Vekoma Boomerang, and let the ride do the work...;)
LOL Bull has all of one non block brake in activation (was two for some of this year, but not back in August -- I assume things are still the same?). I wouldn't really call that "unlimited" or other such nonsense.
Not that I *like* that brake or anything! I agree it definitely takes away from the awesome pacing. But I still consider Raging Bull one of the best coasters I've ever ridden.
Joe, who cannot BELIEVE how many twists and turns this thread has taken. Wasn't it about some sort of new swiss product?

It is amazing that a thread that has nothing to do with PKI or CP has gone on this long.

Legendary, we went post-SRM (Monday), and I don't know specifically where those brakes were...but when the bell kept ringing and the driver STOPPED the bus to pick up passengers, that was too much braking for me....Nitro, in comparison, was great! We got about 5-6 rides on The Bull, and the back WAS better, but the hissing and slowing seemed relentless...
I'm just not awful fond of those Beemer hypers....where's the SPEED I kept hearing about....gimme an I-train and let me HAUL through the course...

Shockwave has always been the signature roller coaster of the park. When the general public first arrives or drives by SFGAm on the Tri-State, they will immediately notice the dissapearance of Shockwave, unlike Whizzer, which only younger children and their familes(which does make up a large portion of the attendence) will notice.
In my opinion, Shockwave was the ultimate coaster. It had a big drop of 170something feet, thus allowing it's high speeds of about 65 MPH. It also had seven inversions including 3 vertical loops, a feature not found on many loopers. The problem with Shockwave was indeed the headbanging, but I still found it enjoyable most of the time.
I have a love/hate relationship with the ride(like many other members do). It is amazing overall, but oh the headache afterwards! I am sorry to see Shockwave go.
They must have had really bad ridership if they didn't give people a chance for that one last ride. I am not sure if Superman: Ultimate flight will be enough to replace Shockwave to me. I think that it is good that we're most likely getting one, but I'd rather a ride that could replace everything that shockwave was, but better.
Is there still a chance that it is a standup or a B and M megalooper?
Since the park has Iron Wolf, a B&M and stand-up, no, it's not possible that this is a B&M Stand-up.
It's a B&M flying coaster. You can choose to accept that or not, really. Keep holding out for something different and you'll be disappointed.

If this new coaster is a flier I really hope it have atleast 6 inversions. Taking out a nega looper and adding a ride with 3-4 loops is stupid.

yeah, Sfgamfreak1169, I hate it when a park takes out a crappy coaster and puts in one of the best in the world. what the hell was SFGA thinking when they ordered something as stupid as a B&M flyer?

We in Jersey still have our GASM...... Neener neener neener!!!
Yeah, well we have an excellent racing coaster that actually has maitenance done on it more than three times a year!
It's like I said earlier. If Six Flags had decided to invest a little money, we coudl have had a custom layout that would have allowed us to keep Whizzer, Shock Wave, and still give us the new flyer. I think the only thing anyone's complained about is the fact that Shock Wave could have stayed, but it's going anyway. If it needs to go, how many peopel here are really going to complain? But now we have the double indigninty of having a clone plopped down in our park, and having a ride unecessarily removed because of it. No matter how great our "new" clone is, that's a prett big pill for an enthusiast to swallow.
Oh, yeah. The visual thing. Everyone who thinks that this will ruin the look of the park, especially from the front gate, is absoloutly right. A big part of the atmosphere of an amusment park is the look of its rides. Those of you not as familiar as we are with Great America will probably not quite understand the impact this ride had, becuse the few times you've seen it (if ever), you saw, simply, an oversized, head-banging, Arrow mega-looper from the 80's. To those of us who visited the park back when we were members of the GP, it was a very different mater.
But I still dont get the big deal against clones. I dont want a flyer in place of Shockwave because I'm not impressed with the flying concept (though I' sure T would love it). BUT if it was a clone of S:KC you would not hear a *peep* out of me.

jeremy
