SFGAm Impulse

Isn't an impulse just any inverted coaster that is launched?
Superman: Ultimate Escape-type rides are specifically called "Impulse coasters" by the designer, Intamin, AG.

How dare you vanquish the Steel Phantom without his consent? Fear the Phantom's Revenge.
There is an Intamin impulse coaster that does not have the twist. It has been around a few years. I believe it is in Japan.

SFNE has a Superhero Adventures section with several rides themed to various comic characters. I thought they did a pretty nice job with it.

I like Dustijn's Poison Ivy idea -- that sure would fit perfectly with the ride. But I thought I read somewhere that Six Flags really wanted to get Superman into the park, and that Superman merchandise was already arriving at the end of this season. Did anyone else hear this?

hey BMCoaster... as a former/future employee ;-) I see what you mean about people's stuff falling in the water. The simple solution to that would be a thin net just above the water covering just the area under the spike(s). Im real curious as to find out how the ride will be placed in that area and what it will be called. (SFGAm is not too unique about themeing/naming stuff)

Anyway, if you read this...will you be working again next summer?? I shuold most likely be back up at Bull.

HEY! Heres a name: Tidal Wave..the Escape

You are kidding right? Even discounting the original Marriot names, there are several names for SFGAm rides that are either unique or original. Examples:
Batman: the Ride - 1st Batman themed coaster
Iron Wolf
Power Dive
Space Shuttle America (now Dino Island 3-D)
And just about everything in SouthWest Territory besides Viper & Giant Drop (River Rocker, Ricochet, Raging Bull, Chubasco etc.)
That looks like a lot of uniqueness to me.

If we'd have to get the Superman name, I'd personally rather have it as the invertigo. Due to it's positioning at the end of County Fair, and being across from the Demon, it's not like it's going to be themed out of place. That end of County Fair doesn't look much like one anyways.

No, I wasn't.. Lets go down the list of names you think are unique.

Examples:
Batman: the Ride - 1st Batman themed coaster

ok, it is also in Yankee Harbour. How did that ever happen!? I think the ride was only named Batman because of something corporate Time Warner decided, and not the park. I could be wrong.

Iron Wolf

What exactly is an Iron Wolf? Iron welded together in the shape of a wolf? That seems to be what the logo implies. Sounds pretty lame to me, actually.

Power Dive
Space Shuttle America (now Dino Island 3-D)

Yeah, the Dino themed ride with a giant Space Ship sitting in front of the building! ;-)

And just about everything in SouthWest Territory besides Viper & Giant Drop (River Rocker, Ricochet, Raging Bull, Chubasco etc.)

Ok, I see what you are getting at. Besides the Giant Drop being the most un-unique ride name of all time, SFGAm's names are, for the most part, original. I think I should've worded my original post and instead of saying "unique" I should have used the word "good" perhaps. What I really meant to say is that I personally dont think the park has too many well named rides. The only ones I actually like (out of the coasters) are Raging Bull and Spacelys Sprocket Rockets. The rest are just dull and boring.

I wouldn't be surprised if the super invertigo is named "Flashback" or "Two Face" and the Impulse coaster is named after another super hero.

And finally, Im not trying to badmouth the park here. SFGAm is one of my favorites, I just dont think the rides are too well named that's all.

If you want a clash in themeing, head over to SFO where you can ride Batman in a Western area and Superman in a 50's area.

Dont worry, SF know that they have these issues with their ride placment

Ha ha... never thought about it that way!

CoastingClay: Oh well whether a name is "good" or not is a totally different subject and is completly subjective. For example, I hate the name 'Raging Bull' for that coaster. The ride give by that B&M creation (despite being my favorite coaster) hardly elicits visions of a bull in my imagination. I think the Viper coaster better simulates the feeling of bull riding (hard, fast, rough).

I agree with the Dino thing too. The orignal movie fit the building perfectly, but I'm not buying the whole 'space-shuttle-as-a-time-travel-device' thing.

The Iron Wolf thing comes from it being in the Yukon section of the park. Alaska is known for wolves. Why Iron? Your guess is as good as mine.

And it took me several years, but I really do understand the theming and placement of B:TR. The theming presented itself early on. I mean you have a hanging coaster, bats hang. It was a natural IMO. As for the placement, well accoring to the DC comics world, Gotham City is an allusion to New York City, which, as we all know is a "Yankee Harbor". I know, I know, it's a stretch (to put it mildly). But its still better than putting medusa in the wild west ;)

CoastingClay - Unfortunately, I will not be returning to SFGAM to run the Bull. I have decided to hang up my cert badge after 8 years for good and become a Season Pass Holder. My schedule just won't allow me enough time to visit parks and work at one. I have had my fun with the idiotic people that make us all frustrated as well as making us laugh. You and Legendary are going to have to hold down the Bull. I will be making many visits to the park throughout the year. As well as Stark Raven Mad - SFO - CP - SFMM and others. I don't care what they decide to theme the new rides to, as long as they rule. I must say that the Invertigo looks unbelievable.

SFGAM 8 years and out.

FYI - Did everyone know that SFGAM's Batman was originally going to be named HURRICANE. I think that this would have fit in with the Yankee Harbor theme perfectly.

BMCOASTER, it sucks to hear that but it is probably the best decision. I'm sure I'll see you around at SFGAm and SRM for sure. Keep in touch!

As for your response 2Hostyl, I do agree with most of what you said... Medusa in the wild west is pretty lame... as for my post being "completely subjective".. yes! it was!! =) I was simply stating my opinion on the rides' names...

About Iron Wolf... ya know it isn't even in the Yukon Territory, it is actually in County Fair. For the record.

CC: Oh i didnt mean to give a 'bad' tone surrounding your post. You made it clear that those were your thoughts. I'm sorry if I gave off an 'attacking' air. That was not my intent. It's all gravy, baby.

And about Iron Wolf...D'OH!!! I knew better. Even though it's close, it most assuredly is in county fair (which actually holds 3 coasters :)). It would have made sense in YT though.

To: Coasting Clay, BMCoaster, and anyone else working/worked at SFGAm.
Since you'd have been back there a billion times, can you tell me if there is enough space for a roller coaster or even an entirely new themed area behind Roaring Rapids and the access road? How about anywhere else?
(Sorry RollrCoastr00, for getting off track)
The possibility is there, but I doubt that it will happen. That is the exterior service corridor. They house the green houses and other pullbarns back there. If you have ever taken a ride on the train you will notice a large fence. That obstructs everyones view of the storage area. At one point the rumor was to place the waterpark back in that section of the park, but who knows now.

I dont really care about theming, would you rather ride a really good coaster like Shockwave, Raging Bull, Viber, Batman TR, Iron Wolf, American Eagle, ect. with no theming or a craptacular ride like Spacely's Sprocket Rocket, no hard feelings (just an example), with the best ever theming? I would ride a non themed but awsome ride. If you don't agree, then don't get mad at me.

Six Flags Great America #1 Park!!!
I'm willing to lay down money that it will be Superman: Ultimate Escape. I don't think it would ruin the park as Six Flags St. Louis has gone with a DC Comics plaza and SFGA could probably do the same thing.
