SFGAm Coaster

I must agree with those that think Shockwave is the least enjoyable experience there (next to the $@*^&! dead end next to Demon). If only it didn't have that neck-breaking curve. And long live the Demon!

In Response to CoasterDude316's theory, they already have a freefall.  While I realize that they are two different experiences (a Giant Drop and a Space Shot), they may seem too similar to the general public.  If anything from S&S comes to great america, I would say a Thrill Shot/Absolutely Insane.

If you really want to get rid of Whizzer, send it to SFoG in exchange for Tidal Wave, er, uh, Viper!  We'll call it even since it IS one Anton for another...

Arrow Guy - That dead end was far and away the biggest let down for me this year.  It reall makes getting around the park a chore.

Gator - I'd rather have Mindbender, but you guys probably wouldn't give that up so easily. ;)

We need to sneak over to AstroWorld and 'stroll off' with Taz's Texas Tornado .. I'd love to get that ride (with lap-bars).

I would NEVER have given up Viper either, but I (obviously) don't make the ride decisions, I just live with 'em the same as everybody else.  If I were to have MY theme park, you can bet Anton would be WELL-represented....there's even a WildCat for sale on the used rides board.  I had a thought last night about trying to merge a WildCat and a Wild Mouse in one space of land...probably too tricky, but I'd call it "Tom and Jerry"...maybe I'll rework my idea so it'd be a shuttle-looper inside a WildCat...call it "TideyCat" (based loosely on Tidal Wave), and have it sponsored by the cat litter people!

I'm with Chickenman - Build a flying coaster over Roaring Rapids.  Thats the coolest idea I have heard in a long time.

I dont know *NOT ONE* person in the greater Chicagoland area who has NOT heard of Wisconsin Dells. They may not know of Big Chiefs, but the Dells in general is a BIG getaway spot for Chicagoans. Add to that the fact that a healthy percentange of SFGAm patrons are from WI, I have to say, I think you'd lose the second half of that bet...

I think I speak for all SFOG'ers when I say we'll politely decline your trade of Whizzer for Viper (Tidal Wave).

*grin*

Viper is still on SFOG property, disassmbled, to the best of my knowledge.

mamoosh u forgot sfne new floorless

>FONT face=Verdana size=2>Get rid of shockwave!!!!  Its a crummy ride, taking up a large chunk of land.  I wouldent care if they put flat rides there or even shops, it would be better than that p.o.s/>

>FONT face=Verdana size=2>Hey i just wanted 2 say that Shockwave is a great ride and alot of ppl like it and alot of ppl dont but i am a HUGE:) fan of it and i get a lil mad when ppl go dissing it like its a peice of dirt when it costs alot of money and its one of the parks BEST coasters!  So taking it out of the park would just make no sence seeing in how its the first ride u see when u go into the parking lot!/>
>FONT face=Verdana size=2>-SFGAMDUDE/>
If Cajun Cliffhanger and Power Dive are gone next year we might be able to get two new flat rides. There arn't many good flat rides at SFGAm, they are all mild basically, like no thrill.
I totally agree with Corey Voss. One of the the things that makes my day great at Great America is hearing the sound of Shockwave trains engaging the lifthill from the parking lot. It might sound dumb, but without it, it wouldn't be the same.

Raging Bull Guy, wouldnt you love to hear like a Flyer or a 4D going up the lift though?  I personally would.  I like the ride, but I hate how it is soo darn rough.
Ya know I find Iron Wolf more painful then Shockwave so lets tear it out instead.  Geez, DON'T GET RID OF SHOCKWAVE!!!!!! the Positive g's are just too awesome.

Does CCI know how to make a bad coaster?

Even though I love Shockwave, and everytime I visit the park it is a must ride for me, just think about what could fit in it's place. The lot Shockwave stands on is huge. It can easily fit a flyer, 4-D, floorless, or just about any kind of coaster. If I had a choice, shockwave would go for a new world class coaster. Believe me, a lot of people wouldn't care if Shockwave is gone, and a brand new flyer or 4-D is in its place. And I'm one of those people.
RagingbullGuy, it's doubtful that the park's management will take into account the pleasure of hearing Shockwave's train "engage the lift hill" when determining its fate.

MisterX, I wouldn't do it either, except for the fact that Viper has already been lost, so better off trade it away than just giving it away....and I haven't ridden any of the current line-up at SFGAm (save for copies of Demon, B:TR, V2, Deja Vu, Shockwave).  I don't ever count woodies as "clones" though.  Hmmmmm.....

I always had a feeling that they would take out Demon and slap in a Flying coaster in 2003. I really have no reason to think this dont get me wrong I love Demon but this is jsut how I felt. Now when I look over the park map and think about it Orleans place always did feel kinda quite because the only loud thing there was Shockwave and that was pretty far away. Now I could see them putting a coaster in the corner between and overlaping roaring rapids and Shockwave. I was at SFMM earlier this year and they were doing construction on X and I remember pulling in and thinking there going to get a coaster in here? It seemed like a very small area. Maybe we could get a ride like this in the area. Looking at pictures it doesnt really seem as small as I remembered but we can still get a coaster like that in this area. Anything is possible jsut hate to see anything go. Oh yeah as of right now apperantly Power Dive is still standing and Cajun cliffhanger is just a hole in the ground.

Six Flags Great America Unofficial Guide 2002 season starts May 4, 2002 www.rideop.com
Yeah I kno, Viper's days are over at SFOG.  A lot of people think it will be reinstalled somewhere else in the park, which is not going to happen.  After we learned it was being removed, I think I heard just about every SF park was going to get it, so who knows where it will go.  But it sure won't be anywhere by next season, it would have needed to be shipped off long before now.

We're getting a flyer, so I guess I don't have much room to complain. ;-)
