SFGAdv locker policy backlash hits Consumerist.com

I think there should be free cubby holes/shelves and optional pay lockers if you don't want to leave your stuff out in the open. If you have a ton of stuff you feel that you need to bring in to the park, but don't need unlimited, constant access to, get an all day locker.

Women can enter a park without carrying crap. I've dated and/or been married to several of their kind, and somehow they survive days in amusement parks without a purse or other stuff. It's crazy, I know.

Hey! Nobody likes a braggart. :)

And men, if they cant enter the park without bringing stuff in, you should have cargo pockets to accommodate their stuff.

I just love it when men stand around and talk about what women do and do not need. ;)

I wasn't stereotyping, or generalizing, like I sometimes get accused of doing here. I don't know how popular cargo pockets are with women. I cant say that I can recall seeing a woman ever wear cargo shorts.

Women can get away with fannie pack more than men, methinks.

Touchdown, I want to respond to your post, but...I...can't...

What would anybody need to take into the park that doesn't fit into a pocket? Phones, keys, credit cards, money, glasses, womanly items, medication, camera...

It's not a 100% neccessity but a refillable souvenir bottle.

Well there would be normal cubbies at ride stations but remember that Snyder is now running the show & the whole purpose of the mandatory lockers is to make more money to line his pockets. He doesn't care about the customer at all other than to relieve him or her of their cash rash by any assinine means necessary.

I know. I'm just saying that is the way I think it should be. I know it won't actually happen. I give KBF credit (so far) for not having pay lockers on their rides like SF does. If KBF would just start giving out value books and a 25% discount on food and merchandise with their season passes like SF does, and SF got rid of their pay lockers, each park would have the best of both worlds. I know, I'm dreaming. Each park has it's own set of advantages and disadvantages.

Oh come on. I'm not claiming Snyder or Shapiro are nice guys (never met 'em), but they certainly care about customer experience, if nothing else because it generates profit. This, "Snyder is the devil and purposely makes the park a bad place to go and laughs when little kids fall" just doesn't work.

I will say that I've noticed a noticable increase in speed and efficiency at the Titan platform since the locker policy has been in place. Unfortunately, that win was completely lost on my last visit since only 2 out of 3 trains were running.

^Meanwhile, in Tampa and Orlando, BGT and Universal/IoA are running most everything at absolute minimum capacity, meaning 25-30 minute waits for Fire Dragon and Mummy. Single-rider lines not running on most all rides. (On the flip side, the FREE lockers at Universal mean people are less likely to carry crap to the platforms). Busch, well...without the beer, the waits on Gwazi seem even longer - but they do have cubbies near the rides *and* mandatory lockers downstairs....which puzzles me. :)

Not sure if this has been mentiond yet, but why don't more parks install the nets that zip closed on more rides? I have seen them on the crypt at kings island, and several rides at disney.

They are right there in front of you on the ride, and you don't have to run and put your crap in a bin on the platform holding up the ride.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Those nets are great, amazing you can even take stuff with you on Rock N Roller Coaster. I took my backpack with me on Space Mountain before the nets were installed and it was fine (I looped one of the straps around my leg just to be safe). With allowing loose articles to be taken with you on the ride, Disney still manages to have amazingly fast dispatches with a lot of trains running at once.

Disney will let you take practically anything on anything. I carried my sizable camera "backpack" (a Lowepro Slingshot) on Space Mountain with it on my lap. It floors me that they don't have more injuries from loose items.

I like those nets too. The only ride I have seen them on is California Screamin' at DCA. Very convenient and useful. I would like it if more parks had those.

Everyone forgot the best way to this. A friendly ride op comes over asks if you need a locker, if you say yes they place your item in a station locker, they give you the key you ride and you get your stuff when your done. If your item is not valuable there is a shelf for you to place it on in the station. This would be a great setup now if that park also had free parking and free soda...

Six Flags won't use them because they don't want guests to bring things with them in line. Shapiro tells advertisers that guests will be leaving their cell phones and i-pods in lockers. This, supposedly means that guests will less distracted from SFTV and thus, increases the value of the ads that run on it.
