SFGADv announcement Sept.28

They could call it "The Big Woodie."
You guys crack me up. :)

I really don't think this hater is going to go to SFGAdv undercover next year because I worry that the new woodie (and KK) will be closed when I decide to visit.

In about 5 years, I'll go back. Of course, I haven't yet seen what the park is building next year, so I may eat my words, but it would have to be pretty freekin' cool to get me to buy THAT lottery ticket again.

' Can't wait to hear the announcement, just to dream what it would be like to actually ride it.

Pretty exciting. I was pleasantly surprised at how the park transformed this year compared to 2003. Heck they even had flowers. But I still feel that they have work to do as far as improving their operations.

Still my fav park tho :) ..and I'll definitely be there to ride that woodie.

Fate is the path of least resistance.

I would doubt that it'll have inversions, but I could be wrong.

As for Records, I'd expect a steep drop, and I'd expect Holiday World to stop claiming Voyage to have steepest in U.S.A.

Again, I could be wrong...

Here's an idea: Wooden Launcher (or has that been done that I'm not aware of?).. either LIM or Hydraulic.

"Life's What You Make It, So Let's Make It Rock!"
Wooden roller coaster for 2006, Ewww! It will probably break the world record for being the world's roughest and most painful roller coaster!
you guys obviously havent ridden the to prefab woodie coasters in europe.

They are actually suppsoed to be the smoothest wooden coasters around almost as smooth as steel .

Why must everybody bash this park? they are trying.

Everything people have been asking them to fix and add they have been doing . I dont understand.

Most of you probably dont even know what it takes to run a park in the first place and should take some business courses before bashing companies.

Sounds great for SFGAdv. People may complain that they are getting two expensive coasters in consecutive years, but if I were SF, I'd be gunning for the huge New York/New Jersey/Philadelphia market. Its bigger and far less competitive than the Southern California market. If it takes 2 big rides to get that regions attention, so be it.
Actually, I'm not a fan of Six Flags, but I have to give them points for GAdv.

Well, recently anyway.

The park way back in my early childhood was awesome.. many good memories. Then it started gradually going 'round the bowl and down the hole. Suddenly, in 2004 I noticed a change for the better. There were still issues, but they were handled in an acceptable manner. 2005 also proved to be better than 2004 IMO (KK's downtime excluded, but that wasn't even there to look at in '04).

They still have a long way to go, but yes, they are trying.

As a satellite radio subscriber, I get to hear more "buzz" out of New York than I normally would, and between that and Howard Stern, I would say that Great Adventure has solidly placed itself as THE park destination for New York. No one even mentions Coney Island anymore when they talk about amusement parks.

Bash all you want about operations, they've managed to caputre an audience. Now they gotta keep 'em interested, and that's gonna be the kicker over the next few years.

I probably will make it out to the park again around my birthday, here's hopin' the new wooden will be open by then, unlike KK this year.

Oh and by the way, TTD operated lightyears better than KK this year, only having two major breakdown periods, one being the one we're in now. That's just krax in his quest to bash everything Cedar Fair. And of course, he couldn't even get the name right, it's Stand Still Disaster (TM Jeff) ...

Hey SFDL_Viper:

You're an idiot.

Just thought I'd point that out, just incase anyone hadn't figured it out yet.

Besides, I will get to SFGAdv next year, I'm more excited about this than Kingda Ka.

jesus- what a lot of moaning and *****ing. Excuse my french.

You bitc$ when parks dont build any new coasters, and then when they do people complain that its going to be rough or have the wrong restraints or be placed in a six flags park.

Get over it. There really are some of the most un-enthusiastic people on this site.

Sweet, that means next time when I go and Kingda Ka isn't running, Superman is running one train, Chiller is running one side, Batman is closed for some of the morning, and Nitro is closed for most of the evening, I'll have my business admin text book to read while I'm standing in line. ;)

I heard the name was gonna be El Torro the Bull

Thanks,

This thing will be a killer, killer ride. And by killer, I mean people may not survive based on what it will do on that first drop.

Killer would be an understatement. :-) Still, I don't knock any coaster (or worship them) until I actually try them, or in this case....SCREAM FOR MY LIFE!

So many new woodies for 2006.....so little time! :-)

Of course they will...they were all denied rides on Kingda Krap this year!

LOL!

Yeah! And the will demand unlimited exit passes to the new woodie for their pain and emotional distress for waiting 9 weeks straight. ;-)

I think Jersey Devil wouldn't get the backlash that banshee did because the locals know about the legend of the Jersey Devil since it is a local legend. Unlike the legend of the banshee which is an Irish legend.

Just think making a Monster Wooden coaster flying through an area filled with pine trees. If they were to add them after the coaster was finished You can transplant pines easily so you wouldn't have to wait for them to grow.

Theme this bad boy right and then you got a real winner.

Watch the tram car please....

I knocked SFMM for getting another coaster based on my visit a few years ago...

However, I can see Great Adventure adding another coaster. They have pretty decent operations and I could see them adding another capacity machine there. I've seen the park packed and they do a great job getting trains dispatched quickly on rides.

I'm glad we're seeing more wooden coasters. Although I'm sure this won't feel like a wooden coaster, it's always a welcomed attraction :)

Too bad THE BOSS is already taken. I bet that one would have gone over well. :)

First off Matt do you even know what goes into running a park.

I have personally talked to the maintanance crew of the rides on more then one occasion .

ITs a hard job .

Most of supermans break downs are caused by the general public . yes you heard me.

Most of the coasters will not operate if the air gates are broken .

What is the main cause of air gates getting broken you say ?

People sitting on them. No matter how many times the ride ops tell the public to get off them they do not listen .

I was there 2 times when maintanance was there fixing the air gates. I even sort of helped with them once.

The chilelr they are doing there best. Remember the chiller was the first of its kind. IT has many inherant problems that are too expensive too fix.

Also next time you are there watch what the people do. They throw there garbage on the floor , write all over the rides.

also the maintanance crew is a union. I am on a union where i work. They get breaks and lunch breaks. You can only hire more union people. also there are environmental issues with doing things to rides.

Considering the area gadv is in and how horrible the park gets treated by the local government. I give them big props for the job they are doing.
