SF PR can call it what they want, but it looks like a skateboard to me!

"...the Elitch spokeswoman pointed out the numerous evergreens recently implanted to create that on-the-slopes feel and, mounted on the tracks above them, the 39-foot-long, ten-foot-wide snowboard where sixteen "boarders" at a time will do the dew in view of downtown Denver."
Ever hear of off-road skateboarding? *laugh* I know SFEG is using a snowboard theme, but the wheels are there for all to see.
Rob,
Halfpipe is on the opposite side of the park from the railroad tracks. Which means it is still pretty close, I guess. One of my fondest memories at SFEG was standing in line for "The Flying Coaster" when a train backed into some cars, to link to them. Words cannot describe that incredible loud crashing noise, and everyone in line (including me) freaked out, thinking some horrible accident just happened to the coaster. Sheesh...

Sounds like my lunch plans have been made for Thursday. Good thing I work downtown.
Fate is the path of least resistance.

I haven't heard any news about the Halfpipe lately. Who's ridden it and how is it?
I've ridden it twice. I loved it both times. THhe best place to sit is in the farthest car and sitting diaginalaly facing the loading platform. That seat gives you the sensation of G's the most. It feels like you are being pulled out of your seat.
The first time was a walk on. The second time they had 2 or 3 break downs while i was in line. But 1 train after teh got a break down fixed and i was goin be next on the loading platform a kid fell out of his seat and hit his head on the board. For some reason they had a manager come take a picture of the seat. Dose any one know why???
Halfpipe is mine. All mine no one other SF park is goin get my ride(insert evil laught here)
For the accident report, and in case of a lawsuit too I suppose.
I'm afraid I have to disagree with you - those trains in the maintenance lot south of Twister II are indeed the original Mr. Twister trains. I was at the ceremony last year when Six Flags Elitch Gardens donated the original blue Mr. Twister train to the ACE Roller Coaster museum, and their execs said it was the original rolling stock for Mr. Twister. They had the train on display in front of the station, and it sure looked like a vintage PTC train to me. Here is a picture of some of the Southwest region ACE members stading in front of that train. I also remember all the stories that came out when Elitch Gardens moved, and the ones when the Mr. Twister structure was finally demolished, and all the stories I read mentioned that the trains were the only thing left of the original ride, and they were now running on Twister II.

p.s. sadly, I was only able to visit the original Elitch Gardens once while I was in college, so my memory of the trains is a little hazy. I do remember Mr. Twister being much better than its successor, though.

But if you need further proof, Twister II was built in 1995. Those trains were taken off last season and replaced with the current trains. So if what you say is correct, the old trains were on Twister II for a total of 8 or 9 years, highly unlikely. Face it, those are the original trains.
So you are wrong. Ya those are the original trains for Twister II no Mr Twister. Also when I was there last, why were both trains(red and blue) sitting next to the second drop of the ride?
Please stop spreading disinformation on this board. The original Mr. Twister PTC trains were used on Mr. Twister from 1965-1994, and then run on Twister II from 1995-2002. They were replaced in 2003 with the current three-bench PTC trains.
Here is a fairly good picture of the original red train running on the original Mr. Twister.
Here are several pictures I took of the original blue train, during the ceremony when Six Flags formally donated them to the ACE roller coaster museum. Note that ACE hasn't actually built the museum yet, so Six Flags is storing them for ACE in their maintenance yard.
