True, Denver has an aging demographic, but there is a large population spread out across the front range within about two hours of SFEG... from Cheyenne, WY, down to Pueblo, CO... I know there are a bunch of people at the five military installations in Colorado Springs, and they probably make up a sizeable thrill-seeking audience, but SFEG doesn't have much to offer them. For example, the infanty guys who got to check out SFOG while they were at Fort Benning, then they move to Fort Carson, CO. You think SFEG is going to excite them?
Any guessers? Do I hear 1? 2?
SUE took 4 seasons. (support extended on rear spike)
Millennium Force took 1 season. (chunk taken out of support on first turn)
Wicked Twister took 1/4 season. (rear spike reinforced)
Goliath was modified before even opening.(bases of many supports reinforced)
When it comes to Intamins and their supports being modified, you never really know. I guess we'll just have to watch the original installation in Europe and wait and see ;) *** Edited 4/29/2004 6:40:29 PM UTC by Draegs***
My question is: Who pays for these changes? Do new coasters come with a "warranty" which guarantees faultless operation for a given amount of time? Since S:UE is getting additional steel after 4 seasons, is CF paying because the ride is older and past its warranty period?
I am not too sure however if the additional supports on the Impulses and on Xcel were really needed, or if it was more of a cosmetical addition. I believe that the publicĀ“s reaction towards those swaying, bizarre designs could have something to do with it.
Maybe, since the pole of the Thrillshot broke and the accident on P. Plunge, Cedar Fair wants to make sure that nothing in their parks "appears" to be unsafe.
Thats why I was asking for the changes on MF and especially Goliath since its the only non-CF ride that would have undergone changes (and I have never heard of changes on Goli)

Wicked Twister did have problems with the supports the first season it was running, but it wasn't modified untill its second season began.
The entire rear spike underwent nightly welding during the summer of 2002 so as to replace the crossbraces with thicker ones.
True, the extra supports for each tower were then added during the 2002/2003 offseason though.
