SFDL officially announces in less than 24 hours!

Stay tuned to http://www.sixflags.com/darienlake! The official online annoucement will be made... I can only hope for ANYTHING more than Shipwreck Falls, because if thats the case, we are still continually removing more than we are receiving. Thats not a good thing... ever since 1999 we have lost more and more (good) attractions, and hopefully they can make it up to us with somthing other than Shipwreck Falls... only time will tell! Stay tuned =) *keeps his fingers crossed*
I'm surprised that SF hasn't put in any new coasters into SFDL after S:RoS.  I think WoA took them all up...lol.
SFDL will be getting  Shipwreck Falls or a Shoot the Chutes which is what it is called. Just watch and you will see that I know the truth.

Umm...
DUHHhhhh

Darien Lake has had a on-site hotel since around 1994! The photo is of the actual hotel (you can see Superman in the background). The site you were looking at was BEFORE the '02 announcements took place.

SFDL has been the first for close to a decade with the only one with on-site hotel & campgrounds.

The update should be up very soon. (if not already)

yes, we are all WELL aware of that.  lol

They got the hotel
Yes, I already know about Shipwreck Falls ~ Shoot the Chutes (Season Pass renewal letters showed this) but hopefully we will have somthing in addition, like a drop ride, lazy river, water slides, ANYTHING....

We are not getting a coaster, either. Only a couple more hours.... pleaaaaase something else besides a shoot the chutes! The hotel was there for a long time, its not new.

SFDL is the most rejected park in the Six Flags chain. It deserves a coaster. It is not the park managers fault. They keep requesting for a new ride every year but the SF corp. won't give them one. All of you who live next to SFMM, SFGadv. and SFGA should stop complaining because you get a new coaster every single year! I am so so so thankful we even have S:ROS. I have been on that thing at least 450 times because there is nothing else to do. If we do get a coaster next year, I bet it would be an impulse, but that is just my opinion. Like SFDL_DUDE said anything more than a Chute the Shoots would be reasonable, like a flat ride for example or S&S drop tower like SCREAM at SFNE

You guys need to realize that Buffalo isn't exactly the biggest market, and there isn't any competition. What real incentive does the park have to add a coaster every few years? Superman is simply awesome, and it will have a lot of "staying power" for years.

I guess the real incentive to adding a major new attraction every year, or a new coaster every couple years is because OF the competition.

Paramount Canada's Wonderland with like 12 or 13 coasters is barely a 90 minute drive from the Buffalo Niagara area (depending if you drive like an American or Canadian on their highways)... and they advertise a LOT here in the Buffalo market.

There are several other smaller parks which start to offer a little competition as well... or at the very least... a cheap alternative that can draw people away such as free parking, better waterpark, etc.
Those parks include Martin's Fantasy Island, Marineland in Canada, and Seabreeze in Rochester... to a much lesser extent, Waldameer Park in Erie, PA. However, without their new wooden coaster to show off for 2002... I would discount them as competition.

Either way you look at it, they have the resources (well, not financially), and they have all given reasons. Sure, we only have a little over a million folks in the entire Western New York region, but if you add in Southern Ontario & Toronto(where SFDL is also advertised a LOT), then you actually got a very large market.

...and believe me... Six Flags in Montreal is MUCH, MUCH further away... so it's their closest Six Flags park!

...isn't that a big enough market??

Why?  Because it's their park and they need a new coaster every single year dammit!

Is it the roar of Kumba or the kumba of Roar? Discuss!

i agree with jeff, buffalo is a small market and doesn't have the attendance that canada's wonderland or any big market six flags park.
but it could if they invested in it and made it better! Did SFMM start out with 15 rollercoasters? NO! Most of these parks are in the middle of nowhere anyway, but people will come if they got new attractions. Look at SFWOA, 3 years ago that was a mirror image of SFDL, a SLC a couple woodies, nothing big, but then look what they turned that into! Why not do it with SFDL? Even with the addition of S:ROS in 1999 the attendance went way way up! Now imagine if they added even more rides and coasters, it COULD become a top notch SF park. I have been to many top notch parks, like cedar point, and SFDL has the crowds just like these parks.

I wouldn't call an hour from L.A. "the middle of nowhere."

Well, I guess Six Flags should dump all their money into SFDL then, right? I think the good people near SFEG would have something to say about your comment of SFDL being the most neglected....be happy you have superman!

I thought Shipwreck Falls was already announced?  Or was that an AT or AB article?

MFRULES23 - Six Flags parks in the "middle of nowhere" ???  THAT is the biggest laugh I've had all morning!

BATWING SFA FAN - you'll be waiting a long time for that announcement.

Jeff - how dare you use logic here...LOL!
