SF St. Louis - Anything going on??

Thanks you guys. I will be looking foward to my trip more since I can meet some members here. Can't wait to see ya there!
I know today i was serving some amazing rides on Screaming Eagle. It was a light-rain all day, so you know what that means! Oil-Slicked rails! :) Plus there was a nice heavy fog over the park for the night, it really added to the ambience. Nothing beats seeing that train roaring into the brakes, coming out of the fog, with the lights.......just plain awsome....

Although there was almost no one at the park, didn't suprise me considering it was 60 and raining all day. But we had some really energetic trains that were pumped up to ride.....

Hope to see some of you CBer's at SFSTL sometime soon. Contact me on AIM: RCTyrant2005 and let me know when you are coming...... GO EAGLE! :p

Yeah, I rode it Saturday, after I got off of work, and it was amazing! (Boss was too). In fact, that was the first time I had ridden The Boss for the year, and much like Eagle, it is running great. Despite the rain, it was a very enjoyable evening.

I agree with that completely. You know what else is really cool, but it is a rare experience. Every time the train passes by the mine train, it releases its excess steam (I assume). The entire first half of the ride is blanketed in fog. During night rides, this makes for an awsome and somewhat creepy effect. The thrill factor of the ride is increased ten times. (Everyone should try it sometime) It would be a cool effect to reproduce for Fright Fest.

Same goes for me too. Maybe if I get off work at the right time we could ride some stuff and talk coasters. That would rock!

And now for my final thoughts, to conclude this incredibly long post. For those who are fans of one of the best water rides in the park, it is almost Tidal Wave season!!!! Who else can't wait for their first bridge standing/soaking of the 2004 season? Speaking of soaking, the water park opens in a month doesn't it? Woo hoo! I hope the temperature here in St. Louis warms up so I can enjoy both of those when they open! Although, I would probably do them if it were fifty degrees anyways. Well, happy May to everyone, and I hope to see you at the park

Matt

Does anyone know any information about the bird show that is being shown in the Sherwood forest theater? I looked at the website, but I wanted to know more. Can I expect the Kachunga of the bird world (bird wrangler, LOL)? Also did anyone notice WEIRD AL in concert in August! Now thats what I am talking about!

I watched..mean vended the bird show last friday. Its not to bad. However I do believe it is only playing on the days with the School buy outs. I.e Math and Sceience day which is Friday.

Hey coaster Matt u cna get FREE tickets to Weird Al if you want. Its suppose to be a diffrent show then it was when it came through town.

It's official. I will be there this saturday ^-^. (Along with 7 other relatives). I can't wait, and I hope to see you guys there.
I will be working on saturday at Eagle from 4pm to Close.....

My nametag is Matt, no other Matts work on my Eagle.....

Right Matts?

Anyways, hope to see you there....

Believe me, I will be going on Screamin' Eagle.

Anyways, see everyone tomarrow! And check for my TR!

HAHA, I saw a CB memeber today, probably was you Devin, heh, he rode Eagle like 15 times.

Anyways, I know me and Boz were having an awsome time working on Eagle today, we had so much fun....

Hope you did too Devin!

So Matt, you are the "red tag" that was working Eagle on Saturday. I must say you guys leave a lot to be desired in the way of customer courtesy. I mean seriously was it necessary for "Big Red" to scream "ARMS UP" each time she checked lap bars? Also I was totally disgusted with the way you guys handled the break down around 4pm. Instead of opening the air gates to allow the riders who you just let on back into the gates (like every park does and every ride does in the park, but you) you forced the riders to get off on the unloading side and then had the nerve to tell them that if they wanted to ride they would have to queue again. No questions asked, straight and blunt. Nice customer service, I hope you got reprimanded for that as I know several people complained.

Now onto the good stuff that I noticed. The Boss is actually re-rideable this year. Screaming Eagle (when they let you ride it) is also a lot smoother. AND that's about it for good stuff to say about the park. The place is quite disgusting in the way of upkeep. There is literally gum everywhere. Buildings are rotting apart and the list goes on. I was going to do an update where I showed stuff that needed fixed (much like I do with WOF), but it would actually have been easier to show what was all right, since so many things need fixed. I guess this is the difference in mentality from SF and CF. Sad.

I was there Saturday and I thought the park was pretty clean. I was there with my kids so I didn't ride any coasters, but the landscaping around the Midways were clean and well kept.

I did notice the TV monitors in the Queues are all off, in fact I can't remember when they were last used. I thought it was a great idea back when they used to show old Looney Toon cartoons on them, but now they sit and rust.
If they don't intend to use them again they need to go. They don't do too much for Aesthetics that's for sure.

The parking lot needs work too. Pothole city.

They had the TVs on in the Screaming Eagle queue line. The landscaping isn't what is the problem - it's the deteoriating buildings and facades, lack of new paint, lack of new bulbs, and the list goes on.
I agree, that is inexcusable, Paint can do wonders to help looks and protect the old buildings (and coasters for that matter ie. Eagle). The gum thing is not an isolated problem to StL. Many parks fight that one.
I don't know if I the word "fight" is what I would call SFStL's stance on taking care of the gum as they did little to take care of it this past off season. There is no way that all that gum came from this year.

That would be Boz

Yea, I agree with you there, she does get quite annoying at times.

Also I was totally disgusted with the way you guys handled the break down around 4pm.

I was down at Waterstreet when that happened. I don't remeber hearing of a breakdown but I would like to know. I will probably talk to Boz later on....

Thats another thing, I know our ride needs new paint, practically every person I talk to says we need new paint. But we can't really do anything about it right now....

Sorry RCTyrant, that was me and one of the girls that spent most of the night on the eagle. She has moved eagle to her #1 wood coaster and legend back to second. We thank you and Boz for the great rides and enthusiasm.
The park could use some paint here and there but looked fine overall. Gum, what can you do? Ban it from the park? Anybody going to volunteer to scrape it off? Just leave my piece of Double Bubble alone, I might want it back at halloween. TV moniters were on during the day but noticed they were off at night. I liked how the characters were out in the park often during the day. One of the girls got to dance with Sylvester during the "We Got The Beat" show.
Overall, our family had a great day at the park and will be coming back for halloween.

Damn Cornfields

Here is my two cents as usal. As far as how the parks look, well physically its not looking brand spanking new. However its far from were it was a year ago. Over the winter, more so in the weeks following the opening of the park, there was alot of paint going on things. The park hired probly more then 10 painters to help the 3 full time painters get as much stuff that could get done done. As far as things needing paint or work, there are only a few things i can think of that need it. For example SE, the wall behind Sling shot and the que on high land fling how ever they have been workign on it.

As far as the T.Vs go, either tear them down or refurbish them. Personally I could do with out them.

And one more thing Swoosh, take some Midol or something for those cramps of yours man. You are getting to upset over a few little things. It almost made it seem like you got a crudge or somethign against that harmless, quite little park.

I am sorry to hear any negative comments about such a nice place. I believe that this is going to be a good year for SFSL and that if you return continuously throughout the season, you will see many improvements. Improvements take time and money as with everything else in the world. As for the paint on Eagle, a true enthusiast knows that it is truly about the ride experience rather than the cosmetics (and Eagle is serving up some awsome rides this year).

As for the gum, I volunteer to scrape it off and I have been.

Swoosh, as far as the issue with the breakdown at Screamin Eagle goes, I was there when it happened yet off the clock and had to leave right away. I dont know what the deal was with making people queue again but that might have been because the ride could have possibly been down a while, again I dont know for sure. The girl who says "Arms Up" I think helps a little because if people do that it helps us check restraints quicker and seatbelts to. She is just trying to help out the process. I think it works well is people actually hear it as it makes them away that we actually care that restraints are getting checked and it lets people know that ride ops are paying attention. Hopefully methods like these carry through to others throughout the year.

Thanks for the compliments Bsr241, we were having so much fun up there Saturday night and when guests are having fun as well it makes me so much happier. I think SFSTL is going through a long drawn out improvement stage. I havent seen the TVs on at all any year except for like 5 years ago and this year I have seen them on a lot. Yes they need to be fixed or something but at least I know they are doing their best with them. The whole park is in need of repainting we all know that and hopefully that is a process that is starting to slowly take place. The gum issue as someone said is something every park fights and can never get rid of. I think the park is pretty well clean of it except in two very popular gum spitting areas. The air conditioning unit right by Screamin Eagle's queue, and that big fan in Batman's queue. I know they scrape that at least a couple times though because I have seen it very well cleaned.

Sorry, that was a big rant. Im done for now though.

SFA has started asking people to raise their arms up to check restraints on a couple of coasters. Wild One and Superman crews both are doing this. Don't know if it makes that much of a difference or not in dispatching trains. Time will tell. I still say the vast majority of the problem in checking restraints lays with an uneducated public. Perhaps if SFA would add lcd flat panels that show cartoons and movies, and mix in the rules of the ride and how to properly fasten the safety devices on a ride, it might speed things up a little bit.
