SF St. Louis - Anything going on??

Well, Screamscape doesnt have anything about sfstl posted recently because frankly, Lance and I haven't spoken since he left for Utah.... ;)

You St.Louis folk, keep your eyes peeled for steel approaching your vacinity real soon! :)

What kind of steel? Intamin hyper?

There is still no sign of anything hapening at the park, there is no land clearing and no noticable marks anywhere where this ride would be built.

I hope that before the season ends there will be pieces here.

Also, the park is open on Nov. 2 & 3(1/2 price adm. and everything 30% I think), call the park if you want details.

Just to fan the flames a little.....

Orange Intamin track was spotted heading east on I-70 today near the Truman Sports Complex in Kansas City.

Goliath anyone?

I am steel skeptic at this becasue as of the third week in Sept there was nothing diffrent with the feild behind HH. Then it was last year. And I hope too god there not moving Shockwave too here, although it appears too be goign too AW. Also there has been a lot of dirt moved over toward the parks ball feilds.

I will be very upset if my parking space is replaced with intiamin track. Or ANY track for that matter.

How do you figure Shockwave is going to AW?

Top 5 Steel: #1 Millenium Force #2 Phantom's Revenge #3 Ice Dragon #4 Incredible Hulk #5 Wild Thing
Top 5 Wood #1 Viper #2 Thunderbolt #3 Timberwolf #4 Outlaw #5 Screaming Eagle

Swoosh, now you know it's my job to fan the flames of controversy on here.....hehehe :)

Who spotted the track? Are they sure it was track and not something else? Intamin box track looks like alot of things ;)

I did hear that Intamin has so many US projects for next year that they had to bring over some engineers from the Switzerland office to help meet the demand....

Well it was one of my friends that spotted it. Intamin track does look like a lot of things -- however this one was curved. Not too many cranes I know of used "curved" track as part of it -- with that being said, why was it in KC?

Well, not all of Shockwave is going to SFAW, but part of it is.

Sig under construction - big announcement coming soon!

Relax folks because SF Saint louis isn't getting much of anything at all anytime soon.

Six flags has already said that only SFMM,SFOT SFGRADV & SFGRAM will get major rides while the rest of the parks in the chain get little to nothing at all because they simply don't have the money in the budget to spend on purchasing rides for all 39 parks.

This is what happens when a theme park company runs around buying too many properties as well as over spending on expansions of these new parks, this pattern of minnimal expenditures per year will probably be going on for a number of years to come so let's all just get used to it & accept it as fact.

BATWING SFA FAN - they never said "only." Be on the lookout at SFA...you should start seeing blue track and white supports showing up soon.

Six Flags St. Louis is getting something big for 2003.

I guarantee you that Six Flags is not just putting four major rides in next year into SFOT, SFMM, SFGAm. and SFGAdv. Those four parks will receive major rides, but other parks that performed well this season will also get major rides. Just wait a few more weeks and you will see.

Also, most people don't know that Gary Story started his theme park career here at Six Flags St. Louis, maybe he is finally going to give something major to his first park.

Again, that article was written by some clown in the Dallas area who obviously was biased toward SFOT. The main premise of the article was the discussion of a new attraction in the park in Arlington. SF did not say anything remotely close to what was in the article regarding only 4 parks would get cap-ex during the conference call. In fact right before the call ended, Mr Burke stated that parks that performed well this season would indeed get cap-ex alloted to them. He also made mention of SFGADV, SFWOA, SFOT, and SFMM not perming well and that they would get some of the cap-ex.

Secondly, SFSTL has had these two intamin rides planned in the park since late last summer. I was able to sneak a peek at the plans when I was visiting the park last September for a meeting. The hyper looked very impressive and the gyro drop will definitely help out its ride collection.

Thirdly, when has anyone EVER thought that SF would add attractions at all of their parks in one year? We all know that will never happen as long as they own so many damn parks. But, we know with 150 million dollars they can provide more than 4 coasters and still have money for general improvements at other parks. From the looks of it, B&M gave them a mother discount on the flyers since the layout is already done. I also would imagine that Intamin would do the same if SF purchased multiple attractions, which they have done in the past.

Batwing, I know you are frustrated regarding that thread about SFA. Someone spots track at SFA and lots of people refute it. I think the same thing is happening here and I understand your point. As soon as photographic evidence is provided in both instances, this will all be cleared up.

But, when you compare the variety of attractions at both parks, I must say that SFSTL could use a hyper to balance out their collection far more than SFA needing another coaster. SFSTL was one of the original SF parks and it has a stron history. Also SFSTL also serves more of a wide range of areas and that will also help its chances. Since its centrally located, it draws local crowds from almost a dozen states!

And finally, Moosh I have NO idea why the track is coming from the west unless Intamin hired another fabricator to help get the projects done. I know they are extremely busy for next year. Its possible it was fabricated out west and they are transporting it out east via truck. Was the track 4 rail boxed? I assume since it was a curved piece, it was indeed boxed.

I also heard something about Shockwave being split up and used as 2 coasters. Hey, stranger things have happened ;)

Yes SFSTL is very much in need of a major new ride & after taking a couple of seasons off as far as big thrill rides are concerned it's about high time that they get something nice for the people of St.Louis.

LOL Moosh,I don't hardly think that SFA will be recieving SFGRAM's defunct shockwave,in fact I recall everyone last year saying that SFOG's viper would go to SFA well so far it hasn't.

I certainly never thought of SFA as a destination for Viper....you've already got a dismantled shuttle-looper on site! (Granted it's not an Anton, but nothing else is)....

bill, thinking SFA may wait until they see how PKD does with their new drop ride before *making a move* for '04...

Chris G - Thanks for the update. BTW...I never questioned the direction the Intamin track was coming from, I think you meant to attribute that to someone else? No worries, tho ;-)

Yes, Chris the track was 4-rail boxed. I too questioned the validity of it, but then again more was spotted today going on I-70 west. This is starting to make me wonder. Also no one ever said they were just getting ONE or the OTHER (ie. hyper & gyro). :)

They took one season off - this year - and added Scooby Doo, the year before they added the Boss. How is that taking a couple seasons off?

....but, that would certainly put a serious DENT in the cap-ex for the "remaining" parks.....not to mention all the other "goodies", like that bridge at SFKK I keep pulling for...;)

That track that was spotted on I-70 today... was it headed east as well??

From talking to my park contact, construction should be kicking into high gear real soon...
