SF GADV to get rid of their HUSS FRISSBEE, PENDULUM

Recent reports state that GADV was dismantling and removing their Huss Frisbee, Pendulum. In addition to the removal of Pendulum, GADV may also remove Juimpin' Jack Flash as well as the Taz Twister.

I hope this isnt all we get for our 30th anniversary!

Im mad.....

Why are you mad? On every visit I had to SFGAdv in the last few years neither of those rides were operating. Might as well move them to a park that will actually run them.

mOOSH

old news. It is rumored that SFGAm will be getting a Huss Frisbee in 2004...hmmm...

Is this a giant frisbee such as delirium, or a smaller one, similar to the KMG afterburners with the cars facing inside.

The Evolution you mean? The cars are facing inside. I am not sure how long the ride has been there but I hate to see it go. Oh well.

Awesome ride!

Yep, and I'm glad it did, or I never would've gotten to ride it, LOL.

Pendulum, from all reports, is in PIECES and will be transported to another park....which park you ask? That's the question of the day, and although SFGAm was listed as a possible recipient, I think we got a whiff the other day that SFGAm will be getting something "new", not something "new to GAm"...;)

Sometimes, people who know DO talk....they just don't tell the WHOLE story, LOL....

You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)

Im hoping SFGAm gets a Giant Frisbee. I have never ridden either( with seats facing in or out), but facing in seems more nauseating. I rode the Disk'O at IAAPA, is that a similar ride sensation?
The location for the FRisbee at SFGADV was horrible. IT was hidden behind the bumper cars. You couldn't ever see it.

Thanks,
DMC

They're removing the Pendulum? That's not cool :( I finally got there for the first time this year and I really enjoyed that ride. Taz's Tornado seemed a bit worn, so I can see the removal of that happening, but I wish they wouldn't remove the Pendulum. Oh well...hopefully they'll get something that will more than make up for it next year.

Are we certain they're not just *moving* that Frisbee? It operated pretty reliably as best as I can tell -- always open when I visited the park.

I haven't seen the Jump operate since 2001, but it's such an incredible ride I'd be much happier (of course) if they decided to fix it. If they send Jump to another park that will operate it, I will go to that park. I don't care where it is.

Last season I saw the frisbee operating relatively reliably. I didn't check on it every time I was there, but I certinaly got a bunch of spins on it on multiple occasions.

The Jump on the other hand, I have never seen operating. And it just blocks the path.

Hobbes: "What's the point of attaching a number to everything you do?"
Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."

I'm also really hoping that Pendulum is just being relocated. There didn't seem to be any problems with it, and if there were any low ridership concerns then, like Crashmando so astutely pointed out, it was completely because of its location. It took me half the season in 2000 to finally figure out where it is because it has no name posted, no sign indicating where it is, and no characteristics that make it jump out at you from behind the bumper cars unless you're specifically looking for it. The average casual parkgoer probably never even found the ride, which explains when you often only wait (at most) one or two cycles to ride it.

With a good relocation (hmm...new color scheme and it could fit in quite well in Frontier Adventures), I think the public will discover what most of us already know: that it's one of SFGAdv's finest flat rides that no one is riding.

Unless they are replacing it with a bigger that goes higher, like the one at King's Island - I'll take that

This was my favorite ride at GrAdv - though it's very difficult to find, it was easily spotted from the main entrance. People who wanted to ride it could find it.

The Jump - I never saw this running, is this a circular type ride that spins around and eventually rockets you up and down real fast as you spin? I love those rides - the one at Knoebel's is great. But these rides do sound like a lot of maintenance - and they make an awful lot of noise.

Taz Twister - it's sad to see these type of rides quickly decaying. I still shun King's Dominion for taking their Time Shaft out.

The Jump is made by Huss Maschinenfabrik and is a different ride from the Downdraft at Knoebels which is made by Dartron.

The Jump has 5 circular, rotating cars for 8 people which jump high up and down. Here is a picture (sadly no one shows the cars in the highest position):

No!!!!

This was my absolute FAVORITE flat ride at SFGAdv. I will be absolutely heartbroken if they are moving it to another park. That was my ride to ride when all the coaster lines were getting too long.

I agree with everyone else that the location of the ride was stupid. You couldn't see it from the path very well, it wasn't labeled (heck I didn't know it was called Pendulum for almost a year), and there was barely a path to get back there in the first place.

Amazingly, JJF was running ONE day this summer when I was there. I rode it with my friends and I can tell you that losing that ride will be no great loss.

I really hope that 2003 brought on a trend, of taking flats out from SFGADV and moving them to SFSTL. :)

From what I understand, the Frisbee is not the only thing heading to GAm.

As for reliablity, the only times that the Frisbee wasn't operating at GAdv was when they had staffing issues. Mechanically speaking, it was one of the most reliable rides at the park.
