Seasoned Patron's Top Ten

Wednesday, July 26, 2000 9:03 PM
Now this is a top ten where I dont want the list I am sick of at this site (1. MF 2. Magnum 3. Raptor 4. Mantis etc.) where the only parks involved are CP and maybe SFO. . I want to hear from people that have been to at least 5 different major parks, and 10 major rides. My list would be as follows.

1. Millennium Force
2. Ghostrider
3. Goliath
4. Steel Phantom
5. Superman Ultimate Escape
6. Medusa (SF Marine World)
7. Raptor
8. Batman: The Ride (any park)
9. Riddler's Revenge (backseat)
10. Magnum (ejector seat)

Now I know this isnt much variety, but its what im looking for. (plus it is changing weekly with additions.)

Steel Phantom Pleasures this season: 150 total, 60 one day

Here's mine:

1)The Legend-HW
5)Millennium Force-CP
6)Shivering Timbers-MA

How's that for variety???

That is a good list. I wish I could venture out of state more to experience these rides.

OK, I'll play. I've been on more than enough (although I'll warn you that my bent is to woodies).

1: Millenium Force
2: Boulder Dash
3: Lightning Racer
4: S:ROS
5: Dueling Dragons
6: Villain
7: The Beast
8: Desperado
9: Mantis
10: Coney Island Cyclone

There it is, for what it's worth (it's hard to make these kind of decisions with so many factors, but hey, it's still fun).

4. Hulk- IOA
5. Magnum- CP
6. Alpengeist-Busch Williamsburg
7. Kumba- Busch Tampa
8. Steel Phantom- Kennywood
9. Rock and Rollercoaster-Disney MGM (best theming)
10. Jack Rabbit- Kennywood(for the old style cars and lack of lapbar)
*HONORABLE MENTION- Spiderman-IOA -the best non coaster ride on the planet today.
Thursday, July 27, 2000 6:32 AM

Ok, here we go.
*note* Will visit Northern Ca. late this summer.

1. Shivering Timbers
2. Millennium Force
3. Ghostrider
4. Magnnum XL-200
5. Goliath
6. The Beast
7. Riddler's Revenge
8. Speed: The Ride (Yes, it's really good IMO)

10. Raven

More people NEED to ride Shivering Timbers!! It WILL make your trip, however long it may be, worth it.

I've been to 9 parks, but my list still looks a little green:

Top 10:

1. Raptor
2. Millenium Force
3. Magnum XL-200
4. The Beast
5. Thunderbolt
6. Mantis
7. Loch Ness Monster (really just an Arrow looper, but still stylish, and was my first inversion)
8. Exterminator (Kennywood)
9. Jackrabbit (Kennywood)
10. The Racer (backward side, PKI)

I guess my list is still CP-centric, but I went to parks like BGW, PCW, and SFO in the late 80s/early 90s before they hit their modern coaster booms (and PKI pre-SOB), and I've been to quite a few parks (both Disneys, PCarowinds, SFEG *post Mr. Twister*) without top-10 quality coasters. Next month I hit IOA and BGT, so I expect the list to be upgraded a bit.

Bottom 5:

1. Raging Wolf Bobs (SFO)
2. Mean Streak
3. Steel Phantom
4. Twister II (SFEG)
5. Disaster Transport

Well, I've been to about 14 different parks and ridden around 70 different coasters (some clones like space mountain) so I *think* I can ad my two cents. Here goes:

10. Batman: The Ride (SFGAm)
9. Chang
8. Fire Dragon
7. Top Gun: The Jet Coaster (carowinds)
6. Magnum XL-200
5. Beast
4. Viper (SFGAm)
3. Raging Bull
2. Son of Beast
1. S:ROS (SFA)

4 and 5 are a veritable tie, Viper getting the nod because of a little more airtime. 1 and 2 are also paper-thin close, S:ROS getting the nod cause it's in my backyard and I can ride it any day (that is if it's working =]). I know that's biased, but so what, nyeh =P!

The one coaster that I'm sure would be on here if i ever rode it is Shivering Timbers. I just cant see going out to MA by myself though. Anybody in the DC/MD/VA area wanna road trip?

I've been to 5 parks so here's my top ten list.

1. Montu(BGT)
2. Chang(SFKK)
3. Kumba(BGT)
4. Face/Off(PKI)
5. Son of Beast(PKI)
6. Mean Streak(CP)
7. The Beast(PKI)
8. Gwazi Tiger(BGT)
9. Tunder Run(SFKK)
10. Outer Limits: Flight of Fear(PKI)

Hoefully it will change next month when I go back to Cedar Point, Stricker's Grove, and SFO.

Can you take me higher?

Hmmnn. Too hard to rank a top ten and even harder to do so with a list that includes both steel and wooden coasters. My list in approx order:

GE Comet
Steel Force
Riverside Cyclone
Knoebel's Twister
Apollo's Chariot
CI Cyclone
SCBB Giant Dipper
Big Bad Wolf (yes, tis true!)

Thursday, July 27, 2000 9:35 AM
Well I got mine ready I suppose and at least I have a different No. 1.

10: Big Thunder Mountain (Disneyland)
9: Medusa (SFMW)
8: Batman (SFMM)
7: Viper (SFMM)
6: Mantis (CP)
5: Volcano (PKD)
4: Gold Rusher (SFMM)
3: Matterhorn (Disneyland)
2: Roar (SFMW)
1: The Great American Revolution (SFMM)

I still have yet to ride Goliath, next week we'll see.

Millennium Force
Magnum XL-200
Mean Streak
Iron Dragon
Blue Streak

Sorry about the CP list, but I haven't been to any other park....yet.
Thursday, July 27, 2000 12:19 PM
1 Hulk (launch and smooth standard B&M flow)
2 Superman:UE (wierdest new sensations)
3 Millinnium Force (at least until third hill)
4 Kraken (love the extended camelback)
5 Son of Beast (king of pain)
6 Montu (fav invert - never been to BGW tho...)
7 Screechin Eagle (favorite small park coaster)
8 Raging Bull (clamshell harnesses)
9 Raven (haven't seen Legend yet)
10 Fire Dragon/ Batman Knight Flight (tie)
Thursday, July 27, 2000 2:26 PM
Kman..Steel Force over Magnum?I would have to disagree there.Magnum is just a little better.
Thursday, July 27, 2000 2:30 PM
I've only been on about 70 coasters, so my experience is pretty limited, and it sure sounds like I will include Boulder Dash and Superman (SFNE) when I get to ride them. For now...

1. Millennium Force
2. Villain
3. Apollo's Chariot
4. Alpengeist
5. Raptor
6. Viper (SFGAm)
7. RagingBull
8. Superman (SFDL)
9. Magnum
10. Volcano

Like I said, pretty limited experience (nothing out west yet), but this would be the list today. I really hate these kinds of lists, because If I got more rides on any of them it would probably change my opinion. Magnum has dropped low probably because after a few hundred laps last year I'm bored with it.

here goes...

1. Raptor (duh)
2. Vortex (PKI)
3. Beast
4. Magnum
5. Mean Streak
7. T2
8. Face/Off
9. Chang
10. King Kobra

have only been to 3 parks, but that's my list. I get the impression MF will be up there once I ride it.
Thursday, July 27, 2000 5:59 PM
1.) Millenium Force
2.) Shivering Timbers
3.) The Beast
4.) Apollo's Chariot
5.) Viper (SF Great America)
6.) The Magnum
7.) Mantis
8.) Mindbender (SF over GA)
9.) Raptor
10.)The Grizzly (Kings Dom.)

This is how I would rank them. Basically 2 through 6 are about equal IMO. If we were including defunct coasters the Mister Twister from the original Elitch Gardens would be #2. I have been to a variety of parks accross the U.S. However, I haven't been to Magic Mtn or SF over GA in quite a long time. I think Goliath and the GA Cyclone would probebly make the list if had been on them.
