Seasoned Patron's Top Ten

1. Dueling Dragons(Ice: Bee-line straightaway towards the loop; Fire: Half loop/spiral inversion)

2. The Comet(Airtime, airtime, airtime!!!)

3. Superman RoS(SF America)(It gets steeper and steeper and steeper...)

4. Kumba(Inversions galore, smooth as silk, great speed...oh yea can someone say heartline camelback???)

5. Incredible Hulk(Great launch and unrivaled smoothness...Kumba gets edge because of zero-g roll)

6. Fujiyama (May not be the highest, but when your situated right next to the real Fujiyama, this ride is terrifying)

7. Apollo's Chariot (Unrivaled airtime on a steelie, great upward turnaround)

8. Mantis (My only stand up, so I can't compare...but this ride is great)

9. Steel Force (Smoothest coaster of it's class)

10. Millenium Force(It's just too simplistic for me)

There is some variety for ya!

#10 Racer- Kennywood
#9 Gwazi- BGT
#8 Magnum- CP
#7 Raptor- CP
#6 Montu- BGT
#5 Mantis- CP
#4 The Steeel Phantom- Kennywood
#3 Mean Streak- CP
#2 Thunderbolt- Kennywood
#1 Yep you guessed it the one, the only JUNIOR GEMINI.:) No really it's Millennium Force.
My 2000 list as of today:).
#1 The Beast
#2 Batman The Ride
#3 Shivering Timbers
#4 Volcano
#5 Apollo's Chariot
#6 Vortex(PKI)
#7 Kumba
#8 Magnum XL200
#9 Alpengiest
#10 The Big Dipper(SFO,IMHO this is what MF should've rode like;).)
Note-I've been to Ohio's big 3 amusement parks (PKI,CP,&SFO)this year, but have yet to ride the Son Of Beast :(.
here is mine:

#10- skyrider (PCW)
i just love togo standups! they beat B&M's hands down in my opinion
#9- goliath (SFMM)
really fast, really fun, and really smooth. the only reason it is ranked so low on my list is the brutal helix that makes me black out every time.
#8- batman the ride (SFGam and SFMM)
great, intense inverted coasters. my only gripe is its incredible shortness.
#7- mighty canadian minebuster (PCW)
an extremely overlooked woooden coaster that is an absolute gem. tons of airtime, but a tad on the rough side.
#6- raptor (CP)
great speed, terrific selection of inversions, this is just a great coaster.
#5- desperado (buffalo bills casino)
great hypercoaster, tons of speed, airtime, and just a lot of overall fun. tons better than the magnum in my opinion.
#4- raging bull (SFGam)
a fantastic hypercoaster, with the most comfortable restraint system out there today. if it was just a bit taller, and a bit faster, it would easily be in my top three.
#3- top gun (PCW)
the best inverted coaster in my opinion. it might not be a B&M, but it just flies through the course, and it is just incredibly awesome.
#2- millenium force (CP)
i think you all know about this ride.
#1- SHIVERING TIMBERS (MA)
the most fantastic coaster ever built. enormous airtime. great trick-track. every element you could ask for in a great coaster is in this awesome ride. come by boat, plane, train, whatever, just do yourself a favor and get to michigan's adventure and ride it.

1. Thunderbolt
2. Steel Phantom
3. Millennium Force
4. Hulk
5. Montu
6. Villian
7. Batman Knight Flight
8. Racer, Kennywood
9. Jackrabbit
10. Raging Bull
Ok, this is going to be Eastern-US-Centric:

1. Millennium Force
2. CI Cyclone
Villain
4. Magnum
5. Thunderbolt (KW)
6. Roar (SFA)
7. The Beast
8. Batman Knight Flight
9. Medusa East
10. S:UE

Now, some coasters may be artifically high in the rankings due to their being fresh in my mind (the 3 new ones at SFO for instance), but right now this is how I THINK I'd rank them...

(So I realize that a bunch of them DO end up at CP or SFO, BUT there's still 7 different parks represented in this list...)

This listing may get shuffled again this weekend -- last time I was at SFA, Superman was closed due to the chain break. And there's other parks I'm planning on trying to hit this summer still that I haven't been to yet (SFNE, Holiday World)

6.Medusa-SFGAdv
7.Great Bear-HP
8.Batman-the ride-SFAdv
9.ThunderHawk-DP
10. Yankee Cannonball

Yankee Cannonball and ThunderHawk are highly unappreciated, both are 70+ years old and ride like when they were built with awesome airtime.
At Dorney Park crowds go to Hercules while I ride ThunderHawk to my heart's delight. THAT IS A WONDERFUL COASTER EPERIENCE!

Racers Start your Engines!
at Hersheypark
Everyone here has such great lists but I must intervene...King Cobra at PKI??
First I think that is the worst stand-up coaster and very torturing.Face-off??I was so disappointed with that one because it is simply a clone of the boomerang only inverted. How bout Outer Limits if any? That ride takes you by surprise the moment you enter the hanger. The themeing done very well..it simply doesnt get enough credit.Disaster Transport is cute too..that was my first bobsled coaster.Wondering what happened to the one at SFGAdventure years ago....and Vortex?Cmon I know we have a right to our opinions but please...that ride is for starters..it bores me.Just my opinions...dont take them personally...

We should actually start a thread of ALL the coasters weve ever ridden. It would prob be the longest thread in history!!

Yo CM, King Cobra isn't a bad ride at all. Sure it's not a giant like Mantis or Chang (awesome ride), but it is very smooth and has the one thing that most B&Ms lack, air after the first drop. Those bunny hops are pretty cool. And Vortex (PKI) is a better ride than most (if not all) of the Arrow so-called mega-loopers. There is more to the ride than just the inversions. In fact there are two air producing drops before you even get to the first loop. And (I know I'm in the minority on this one) if you havent ridden a ton of the boomerang/invertigo shuttles, one might think Face/Off is pretty cool. It's fast, it's intense, it doesnt beat you up, and you get to laugh at the people across from you, a really fun ride. Just my opinion though...

Thank Jeff..didnt know that..you learn something new everyday!

Also to add to 2Hostyl's Vortex comments. Don't forget it's also the first coaster in the world to have 6 inversions. I still like the Vortex too, but after riding Kumba, it (the Vortex) is just another multi-looper to me.

3 MF rides:
3-2, 5-1, 9-2
Coastermonster: I think it's pretty obvious you've never rode Face/Off. it's hard to say it's just another boomerang, because somewhere between the dual-sided cars and the fact that it's inverted, it definately feels different from a standard boomerang. I'm sure it wouldn't be in a "seasoned Veteran's Top 10" but it's still a great ride. Arrow made a lot of corkcsrews, but I've never seen corkscrews done as well as they are on vortex. Often I go to PKI more excited about a few more laps on Vortex (19 so far, for the record) than about the new coaster. I've experienced King Kobra, Mantis, and Chang, and since I consider them the same coaster, I often clump them together as Mantis/Chang. you'll notice Chang on my list higher than King Kobra. (Mantis doesn't appear, but since I treat it as Chang and vice-versa, it sort of does.) but Kobra is still a helluva ride. the bunny hops are cool, great helix, and in the front seat the left banked straight stretch into the bushed is more intense than any head-chopper.

also, OL:FOF did make my list. everyone says it beats your head too much, but apparently everyone just doesn't read the sign that tells you to lean your head back during the ride. and I also agree with you that DT isn't the scrap metal everyone makes it out to be, but there are 10 better coasters out there, for sure.
OK, I can't compare woodies and steel, so you'll have to indulge me two seperate lists:

STEEL:
1. Magnum (CP)
2. Apollo's Chariot (BGW)
3. Raptor (CP)
4. Superman:ROS (DL)
5. Montezooma's Revenge (KBF)
6. Millennium Force (CP)
7. Steel Force (DP)
8. Big Bad Wolf (BGW)
9. Dueling Dragons (IOA)
10.Gemini (CP)

WOOD:
1. Phoenix (Knoebel's)
2. Rampage (Visionland)
3. Shivering Timbers (MA)
4. Jack Rabbit (Kennywood)
5. Comet (Hershey)
6. Raven (HW)
7. Timber Wolf (WOF)
8. Giant Dipper (SCBB)
9. Texas Giant (SFOT)
10.Hurricane (MB Pavillion)

I've limited myself to currently operating coasters. If I hadn't the Screechin' Eagle (SBNO - Americana) would be my #3 woodie.

Now all i know is #1 is " The Beast "! But whats up with MF?!?!?!?!?! I dont like it. It really is so simplistic. Heres the words of athe designers- " Lets make tthe tallest coaster, then make it go down steep, go up again, go down, turn, turn, turn and its done. At least SOB added some thrill into the tallest woodie. I expected more from MF!
AMEN! DLDude! Finally someone agrees the MF is too simplistic!
