Say good bye too, Geuga Lakes Free Fall!

Don't forget Mr Hyde's safety record too...
I hate to see both go, as I missed riding CP's last year and won't be back till it is probably gone, and GL's was closed.

I rode SFMMs (also SBNO currently, I believe) in March, and loved it! I'm saddened, but do hope that CP is clearing way for either a new (or a few new) major flats, or (less so) a coaster.

Demon Drop takes up virtually the least amount of space in the park. I don't know what to say...ugh.

It's still me, here from the beginning back in 1999. Add 1500+ posts to the number I have in the info section if you care about such things.
Well perhaps they are going to use that land that DemDrop uses as well as the parking lot to the immediate right of the front gate for a new area of flats and/or coaster.

Which is it? Should the old be replaced by the new or should these rides be preserved as testament to the progress the industry has made?

To some, only "favorite" rides seem to be worthy of saving. Anything else... "Pull it down and put in a coaster!"... even if the vacated footprint is hideiously small for that.

Kind of reminds me of a story a guy I used to work with told about a customer he ran into at his second job in a boot / leather shop. She was deeply troubled that some of the boots there were deer skin... and just as disturbed that others were made out of lamb skin... but she had no trouble buying a pair made out of regular leather. When asked why she had no qualms about buying leather boots made out of cow hide, she replied... "Well... cows aren't cute."

So it goes with some rides and attractions I guess... Drachen Fire was the cute little fawn or lamb... a first generation free fall is just an ugly bovine.

It doesn't seem like they would rip out that section of parking lot after just repaving it. That's very...un-Cedar Fair-like, by wasting money I mean.

If I were an enthusiast, I'd say, "Ooh! Room for a Eurofighter!" but since I'm not, I'd bet on a flat or yet another TT clone.

TT = Timber Tower?

I'm actually surprised the park hasn't added a topspin yet as it is one of only three parks in the chain that does not have one.

OMG! They're going to build a waterpark!

Ooh, guess I forgot...a true enthusiass stays bitter and pi**y weeks after losing on a point or two cuz they have so many other things to live for besides a lift hill. You know, like other people in their lives or a hobby. (HINT: Let it goooooooo)

Swoosh: KCS-MOA's Timberland Twister. You know, the original custom-designed coaster. Not to be confused with its Dragon-spinning, Mr. Six-dancing clones and all. :)

Just an FYI SFMM's Freefall has been closed most of the summer.

"Say good bye too, Geuga Lakes Free Fall!"

You know, when I first read the title of this thread, I thought GL was running some free promotion for fall to say good-bye to the 2005 season. Anyone else see it that way?

As much as I want to edit the title, it's just too funny to me the way it is.

"Say Good-Bye To Geauga Lake's Freefall" - big difference in how my mind breaks the two apart. :)

John, could it really be?! Watersports! Watersports!! Watersports!!! We don't have to be jealous of the corner of the wall by Dragster and construction workers anymore..

+Danny ;) ;) ;)

Pale Water Canyon? *retches at the thought*
GL's ride came from Rocky Point in the state that I live in, RI correct?

#1 Canobie Lake Park Fan!!! M/M's top 10 coasters: 1. S:RoS @ SFNE 2. Boulder Dash 3. Montu 4. Yankee Cannonball 5. Kumba 6. Gwazi 7. Mind Eraser 8. Thunderbolt (SFNE) 9. Cyclone (SFNE) 10. B:DK
Oh right, Playa. We both know your feelings about the site plans for Son of Whizzer.. ;)

Yeah, they put me at ease. Very much so, in fact.

GL's freefall came from Rocky Point. Before that it was at SFGAm as The Edge. It's the reason that the lift towers now have anti-rollbacks.

Nice, high-quality ride if you ask me. ;)

Geauga Lake's free-fall, Mr. Hyde's Nasty Maintenance Nightmare came from Rocky Point Park, which got it from Six Flags Great America, which got it from Intamin, which got it from Waagner-Biro.

I'm kind of sad to see Demon Drop also go up on the block, as unpleasant as it is. But Mr. Hyde's is, compared to Demon Drop, garbage. Demon Drop is unpleasant. Mr. Hyde's goes well beyond unpleasant.

Maybe El Paso's going to get a matching set. Arranged the right way, they would look like a pair of bookends.
