I rode SFMMs (also SBNO currently, I believe) in March, and loved it! I'm saddened, but do hope that CP is clearing way for either a new (or a few new) major flats, or (less so) a coaster.
Lord Gonchar said:Which is it? Should the old be replaced by the new or should these rides be preserved as testament to the progress the industry has made?
To some, only "favorite" rides seem to be worthy of saving. Anything else... "Pull it down and put in a coaster!"... even if the vacated footprint is hideiously small for that.
Kind of reminds me of a story a guy I used to work with told about a customer he ran into at his second job in a boot / leather shop. She was deeply troubled that some of the boots there were deer skin... and just as disturbed that others were made out of lamb skin... but she had no trouble buying a pair made out of regular leather. When asked why she had no qualms about buying leather boots made out of cow hide, she replied... "Well... cows aren't cute."
So it goes with some rides and attractions I guess... Drachen Fire was the cute little fawn or lamb... a first generation free fall is just an ugly bovine.

I'm actually surprised the park hasn't added a topspin yet as it is one of only three parks in the chain that does not have one.

Swoosh: KCS-MOA's Timberland Twister. You know, the original custom-designed coaster. Not to be confused with its Dragon-spinning, Mr. Six-dancing clones and all. :)

You know, when I first read the title of this thread, I thought GL was running some free promotion for fall to say good-bye to the 2005 season. Anyone else see it that way?
As much as I want to edit the title, it's just too funny to me the way it is.
"Say Good-Bye To Geauga Lake's Freefall" - big difference in how my mind breaks the two apart. :)

Nice, high-quality ride if you ask me. ;)
I'm kind of sad to see Demon Drop also go up on the block, as unpleasant as it is. But Mr. Hyde's is, compared to Demon Drop, garbage. Demon Drop is unpleasant. Mr. Hyde's goes well beyond unpleasant.
