Save Shockwave Campaign?

I don't find Iron Wolf more painful, I find Shockwave to be more painful.

Iron Wolf is just as smooth as any other standup. The new restraints only help the ride. Appreciate it for what it is. An intense Beemer. People complain that B&M is losing intensity in newer rides, well, if that's the case, then we have a prime example of a forceful B&M ride in Iron Wolf. People will never be satisfied with anything. Give them a Kraken, and it's too smooth, Give them a Wolf, and it's too rough... It never ends.

Wow. What a shocker. I come back from a great trip to news like this. I love the Shockwave, and entering GAm wiothout hearing an Arrow lifthill , well, I just can't imagine it. You all complain about Shockwave being rough (which I'll admit, it wasn't B&M, but the horror stories aren't true) but the least you can do is admit it was eye candy. I'm hoping if this is indeed true, and the big blue one goes, it will be A)Re-Located and B) Under any circumstances, NOT replaced by a clone.

Actully GASM is a clone of Shockwave, Shockwave was the original that opened in 1988. GASM opened in 1989 and is a couple feet taller than Shockwave.

There's plenty of room for Shockwave at SFAW! Just get rid of XLR-8 the land hog! Or better yet, just get rid of WaterWorld! This is one used coaster that I would truly love to see at SFAW, so I say tear down anything that's necessary to make room for it, and get it down here fast! This is exactly the kind of coaster that we need here!

I think Jazzland could definitely use SW. They've got plenty of room for it. Let's see, they're already getting a NAMTAB B&M this year. IF they picked up SW, then they'd have a boomerang, an Arrow megalooper, a B&M, and a kickazz CCI. Nice collection of coasters it would be!

Then again, if IFs and BUTs were candy and nuts, then everyday would be Christmas!

I wonder if they would let me dismantle Shockwave? A little C-4, some beers, and a bbq grill.... Anyone wanna join in my "See YA wouldn't wanna be ya Shockwave! Party?"

I'm not defending shockwave cause iv never ridden the thing before but I think comments such as this should be deleted. mikerose2, your remark is pointless, degrading to the park and its coaster, and is flat out childish. why is it needed to post suck rubbish. There is a more tasteful way of saying that you disliked a coaster. In defense to any coasters of yesteryear, let us not forget that they are the creations that have guided and aided us to where the coaster design industry is today. Dont verbally neglect the process of evolution. Whether you want to believe it or not this coaster is part of coaster history and does serve some form of signifigance.-D

"I agree with Marky Mark - I would rather see Iron Wolf go before Shockwave any day."

Ride quality aside, Iron Wolf would make a far better location for a flying coaster than Shockwave. Even if the flying coaster was the same layout as Iron Wolf, I reckon it would be absolutely fantastic!

[Yes, I know that no flying coaster has been announced..]

Iron wolf is an awesome standup and I shudder to not be able to ride it every year. Also the only reason why people say that it is so rough is because the trains are poorly designed get new trains and problem solved.

I really hope that Whizzer is still going. Shockwave is absolutely amazing during those second and third loops, and strong on the first one. The first drop is still really cool, the ride cycles through about 2,000 people every hour, so it's obviously a capacity dream, there really isn't much bad about the ride at all, sure, it's got that one spot right before the brake run where if you aren't careful you'll hit your head, but if you're careful, obviously you all know where this is, then you can avoid an awful lot of pain pretty easily. As for Iron Wolf, another one that only has one or two spots where you hit your head, but suddenly that one or two spots has turned into about 10 spots, which is an exaggeration. The ride is about as intense as stand up coasters come, this ride still makes my knees buckle every time especially during the finale, the ride has power written all over it. Whizzer on the other hand, is good for starting younger kids on coasters, but then again, so is Demon and Spacely's Sprocket Rocket, and Viper as well (it's not really the ride that matters to kids starting up, but how physically imposing they are), so if they remove Whizzer, then there's still 3 coasters right there for kids getting started to go on. The ride may be the only one of it's kind, but IMO, there's a reason for that. It's not something I'll ride, it's not one of Anton's (RIP) shining moments, and why would I want something I don't ride to stay while another ride that I ride and enjoy every time is going? Of course I want Shockwave to stay and Whizzer to go, it's a no brainer for me. It's okay to be greedy a little bit sometimes, and that's all I'm doing here.

Edit: Forgot to mention that I believe that Shockwave doesn't take up much more space than Whizzer. Whizzer has the smaller and spiral lift hill which takes up less space, but the rest of Whizzer is very spread out and takes up probably more space outside of the lift hill than Shockwave does.

I for one hope that the news about Shockwave is true. I rode Shockwave for my last time last year and I vowed to never ride it again. It is way too rough because all the transitions are poorly designed. If Six Flags in it's infinate wisdom feels that another park could benefit from having this coaster than they should move it but personally I feel sorry for any park patron at a park that does receive this metal piece of s**t. The only time this ride ever has lines is early in the day when the crowd hits it first coming in the gates. After that it is always a walkon which is a statement to it's lack of popularity and the fact that modern technology in steel coasters will always prevail.
