Save Cedar Point

I think he may mean artifical trees.

I meant fake. You can make palm replicas that look so real. I've seen them at Hurricane Harbor in NJ. Hopefully they will add some trees under TTD. That be cool get a big red wood and see if it can out grow TTD. Just kidding!

Thanks,
DMC

One reason that CP maybe left dragster so oper was so it will fit in with the whole theme. I meen most drag strips are just big concreate area with minimal shading. And that is kind of what its kinda like next to dragster. But personally theming a ride is suppose to give the ride something extra, and I think it may be cooler going 120 past big trees instead of a cement lot.
Unless there were any birds nesting in those trees? then it would Suck big time.. Ask FABIO?

Someone mentioned how bare the main midway is, but I recall it's always been rather bare of trees, except for the ones in the middle. I went back to look at a picture I took in 1969:

Now compare that to This taken from Virtual Midway:

I'd rather die living than live like I'm dead

i dont know if its the crowd in the second picture but the second picture makes the midway look much less bare and open, but it could just be the amount of people in the picture

The first picture (1969) shows the south end of the main midway, while the second picture (2003) shows the north end.

I know the playground next to the colliseum may be good for little kids, but it think they would be much better off placcing something big on that area of land, and pust a playground somewhere else. Or at least improve the playground maybe do what valleyfair did with there bearstein bear country.
It's a fact that when Cedar Point builds a new coaster that they almost always tear out every single tree in the way. It's sad to see such cool looking vegetation and landscaping be removed, but when the park adds to an area, they revitalize the whole construction zone, including planting new trees. I was sad to see portions of the lagoons go as well as some of those willow trees, but in order to keep people coming back, they had to be removed.

Another reason for removing trees when added a new ride is the fact that trees can fall down onto the tracks causing expensive clean-up and possibility of fixing damaged portions of the ride. I'm sure they try to appease the lawyers by doing this since it cuts down on them being liable for it when the possible danger is known. Cedar Point is prone to some freakish weather conditions during the summer. This past summer there was a massive storm that knocked down trees all over the park, within some ride low zones, and actually onto portions of a few rides.

I love the atmosphere of the back of the park. Working back there this summer really gave me an appreciation for how much more laid back and relaxed it is compared to the front of the park. There is some nice shade back between Antique Cars and White Water landing too. Those massive trees within 'Tiques are some of the oldest, if not the oldest on the peninsula. It would be a shame to see them go. Hopefully, if they remove Antique Cars to add a coaster they will design around the those trees.

I think that the only types of rides that would fit within that space would be a moderate sized wooden coaster, or a modestly painted B&M flyer themed to an eagle or another similar animal. I would lean towards a flyer since it could be painted to fit into the area, the box spine could be filled with pea-gravel to silence the roar of the trains, and it could be a record breaker at just over 100 feet tall, so it wouldn't be too obnoxious. Mean Streak would still be the tallest in the area. I don't see why it couldn't work...I just ask for them to preserve those huge trees. Screw the lawyers...

CPgenius, I agree with you about the antique cars area 100%. If cp does add a new coaster to the fronteir town area you can alomst garantee that it will not be as large or tall as mean streak. MS is the staple for that area of the park. It really adds quite a lot to the area as a whole. It may not be the greatest ride ever built, but it looks absalutly fantastic, and its the backdrop of frontier town. Unlike many rides that kind of ruin the way a certain area of the park looks and feels and many times looks out of place, MS improves especially the look and the feel of that area, and doesnt take away but instead adds to the area. I dnt think anything would serve as a better backdrop to that certain area better than huge massive looking wooden coaster, which is exactly what MS is. So i would not expect for anything else in frontier town that would make MS look any smaller
Uh, is it just me, or did Intamin's post just refresh itself after like a week? I'm almost certain that I saw this post like a week ago after I posted...weird.
