Where was Ocean View Park, and does anyone have a link with more info on it?
Don't forget that the flick featured a young Helen Hunt too!
Jaws is one of my all time favorites!!
Brody: What is that thing?
Quint: You go in the cage, cage goes in the water, you go in the water. Shark's in the water, our shark!
here are some other classic jaws quotes:

This movie is a typical 70's "disaster" film. It's cheesy and illogical, yet strangely entertaining. My only question is why don't they just not open Revolution if he's going to blow it up?

Remember, the movie itself was designed to highlight the whole new theatre experience known as *Sensurround*. To get the full experience, you'll need three large-screen TV's placed strategically around the room.
As mentioned before, I think you're confusing this with cinerama- which is primarily remembered for having on-ride footage of a coaster called the Atom-Smasher. That sounds like fun!
Oh, and Jaws and Jurrassic Park rule.

They answer that question.
Agent:
Then we clear everybody out and conduct the search.
Park Manager:
Over my dead body! For all you know this guy is 3,000 miles away at Coney Island
Hoyt:
And what if he isn't?
Park Manager:
Then he'll hit us tomorrow. Or the next day. Or the day after that. Unless you expect us to close down permanently!
This is the scene at Magic Mountain where Calder comes up with his suggestion that they wrap the coaster in patriotic banners as an excuse for putting the bomb squad up on the ride.
--Dave Althoff, Jr.
Not to mention it was opening day for the ride. It was well publicized, and those who had the "golden tickets" for the first ride were already lined up. Sure, this is a movie, but how many park managers would be willing to close a ride an hour before it was to open because of a possible threat?

Rideman, I WAS referring to 1977. Today, of course, especially after the events of 9/11, I would imagine most parks would not think twice about shutting down a ride if there were the possibility of a bomb threat.
The times, they are a changin'

Man, I can just feel the drama. :)

I can't wait to go home today and watch it. It's probably been 15 years since I've seen it. The only things I vaguely remember are scenes of the Galaxi, Rebel Yell, and Skyride from KD (and now that ProgRay mentioned it, the singing mushrooms! Dang, I actually miss those guys, lol), and of course Magic Mountain's Revolution. I also vaguely remember some footage near the old Dinner Bell that used to be next to the Galaxi...I think.
I don't remember seeing the Apple Turnover, however. That's going to bring back memories...

In addition to a Steve Guttenburg appearance, we get a VERY young Helen Hunt as Calder's daughter and Bill Maher as a *Golden Ticket* holder.
This movie, which I own on DVD, is like a 70's Amusement Park time capsule. I watched it with my two younger sisters and two nieces a few months ago and we had a great time remembering our late 70's family trips to King's Island and SFoMid-America (that's SFStL for you kids amongst us). Every brotha rockin a natural, all the girls rockin those white knee high socks, every office interior sportin dark paneling, shag carpeting, hats with your name hand sewn on the brim, polyester, polyester, polyester everywhere! If you loved the Brady Bunch at King's Island, you'll dig Rollercoaster.
"Rollercoaster" is NOT a disaster flick. Clearly, it's a psychological suspense drama, a thriller, if you will, and a cut above most "mainstream" thrillers that were made during that time. If you haven't seen it, give it a chance. Just don't expect too much.

Read em and weep:
Big Boy (Ron Mael)
The earth is shaking, so am I
If you don't run, it's suicide Big Boy, Big Boy
My name is David, he don't care
He's never nice, he's never scared Big Boy, Big Boy
Big Boy comes around
Throws his weight around
Throws our girls around
Leaves without a sound Big Boy, Big Boy
He's well-equipped, the girls are sure
Is that a guess, or something more Big Boy, Big Boy
We're bored to tears until he comes
And then we're crying cause he's come Big Boy, Big Boy
Big Boy comes around
Throws his weight around
Throws our girls around
Leaves without a sound Big Boy, Big Boy
The earth is shaking, so am I
If you don't run, it's suicide Big Boy, Big Boy

RGB: You fell for the trick, recall that the 'employee's sent up to look for the bomb were bomb squad members wearing 'rides maintenance' uniforms. As I recall, they didn't even show a ride operator anywhere near the ride at the time.

I just watched the movie this evening & it was the worst showing of this film that AMC has ever done.
There were more commercials than you could shake a stick at & during the closing credits they decided to run one of those sidebar things, earlier in the year AMC broadcast it in it's entirety with no commercial interuptions.
Still the footage of KD is great,it's the main reason I watc the film, too bad the park has changed so much since then & one thing is missing which is King Kobra which I recall was added to the park in 1976,a full year after the film was made.
Actually, BATWING FAN, the Kobra was the 1977 addition to KD. The film was shot in '76, I believe--Revolution's inaugural year.
The movie was not as bad as I remembered. It was actually pretty entertaining. The weakest aspect was probably the editing, as it definitely dragged a bit.

LOL,I just spotted an error in my previous post,I should've said " a full year before the film was made" instead of saying "after it was made".
I totally forgot about Revoloution's 76 opening because in the storyline that part of the story did focus on the opening day of the ride.
About King Kobra there should've been at least a glimpse of the foward tower in the overhead view of the park,I'm certain that if filming was done as early as 1976 for Rollercoaster then that being KK's debut season the ride would've already been constructed & running unless they filmed in the offseason between 75 & 76.
Like I said before, the Kobra debuted in '77, which means it was most likely constructed in the offseason between '76 and '77. If filming was done in the summer of '76, the Kobra would not have been there.

When the film airs in europe, tv-magazines never get tired to mention the fact that all park scenes were shot during the off season. Hundreds of extras got sick while dressing up in polyesterday-summer clothing in cold weather. Lets not forget those people on the coasters, who had to ride in the same seat numerous times to get the shots done. Whats a little cold compared to this?
If you look close you will spot a cameramam filming inside the structure of REBEL YELLs turnaround. It can be seen during the POV.
Seeing the film in Sensuround (tm) was quite a blast. In typical gimmick/exploitation style the audience was warned that the low frequency sounds could lead to mental illness! I was 10 years old, I loved coasters and the movies and I was completely blown away by the sight of the first five cinema rows being ripped out and gigantic subwoofers being placed instead of it. I just wish they had shown "KISS MEETS THE PHANTOM OF THE PARK" with the same technology instead of "EARTHQUAKE".
The Sparks had a huge comeback success in germany about five years ago with "When do I get to sing `My Way`", a very europoppy tune, which sold millions. They have been marketed as the band who "invented" the Pet Shop Boys. Surprisingly, they still looked very young and fresh, but soon went into oblivion again. Undoubtedly they used to be a very innovative, witty pop band at a time when punk was still waiting to be born. I have to admit that I bought some of their records for the cover art alone (they came very cheap, though.)
