Roller Coaster Tycoon II headed for stores this fall

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

After the original spent years at the top of the charts, Roller Coaster Tycoon II will hit shelves this fall. New features include a tuned ride creation system for more control while building roller coasters and scenery, new shops and stores to help raise player’s profits in their parks, new park themes to help gamers attract new customers to their theme parks and a scenario editor with which gamers can create their own park challenges.

This is great news! Today has been a bad day after the bomb threat at my school and Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes's death and this has really lifted my spirit.

What made RCT 1 (I love adding that 1 at the end) so popular is how incredibly simple but in depth the engine was.

All of these improvements every one suggests are great but what would make my day more than anything else would be a brand new engine that takes advantage of Windows and is just as simple. Even if Chris doesn't add one new feature or attraction, if he makes RCT II more windows oriented (sorry Mac fans) it would be worth it. If RCT II is more Windows oriented, the user could take advantage of a full color pallette, and be able to import and export media. But most of all, this means that the user could minimize and maximize the game window with much greater ease. Imagine RCT II running in the background and talking on AIM at the same time, and being able to easily switch back and forth. Chris can easily add options to pause the game when the user minimizes the screen, or a shortcut key for full screen mode etc.

Besides that, a sandbox mode would be nice :)

Ohh it's definitely possible to run RCT 1 and other stuff as well, but is it easy? My point is that I hope the sequal will be more like a traditional windows application like Flight Simulator, and not in the windows shell.

I'm praying for Intamin Box track new angles, and higher height restrictions.

What I think is good about this is that its Infogrames instead of Hasbro. My new addiction is Civ3. Infogrames has really been supporting the game well, including frequent patches and the possibility of free expansion with multiplayer mode. Can't wait to see if they do just as good a job supporting rct2
YEAH~!~!~! Im SO HAPPY! This excellent news!:):):):):)
Indeed, Hasbro was perfectly happy to rake in the cash and repackage, but couldn't even spend the coin to keep the official website updated. Infogrames is a much classier distributor.

Pssst! Hasbro's computer game division was bought by Infogrames.

Well, still, civ3 has a very nice website. It may have more to do with Firaxis than Infogrames, but there's always hope. Thanks for this info Jeff.
