Roller Coaster Tycoon II headed for stores this fall

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

After the original spent years at the top of the charts, Roller Coaster Tycoon II will hit shelves this fall. New features include a tuned ride creation system for more control while building roller coasters and scenery, new shops and stores to help raise player’s profits in their parks, new park themes to help gamers attract new customers to their theme parks and a scenario editor with which gamers can create their own park challenges.

Hmmm, kind of hinted at more coasters and rides. Will we finally get a giga, 4D, and impulse coaster in the package?

This is fantastic news.

oh man!!!!!! this is the best news I've heard since like forever..... I can't wait. Can't wait! can't wait!

Am I dreaming or is this for real. This is some of the best news I've heard in ages. I'm already counting down.

Top 5
1.Apollo's Chariot
2.Flight of Fear (PKD)
3.Rock'n Roller Coaster
4.Alpengiest
5.Grizzley (PKD)

I wouldn't be surprised if it is released in the UK before it is in the US like the other game and add-ons were.

By the way it is worded, the original will not be compatible with RCT 2. They will have 2 completely different editors.

That means a whole lotta fun this winter! :)

This is the best news I've heard in a looong time coaster-wise. I shiver at the mere thought of putting the cd in and installing it.

So much for sleep this winter! LOL. 4D! 4D! 4D!

What are the chances that explosions will now cause damage to surrounding property? I mean, what's the point of launching a train into a crowded midway if you can't destroy the lemonade stand? :)

OOHHHHHYYEEAAAAA!!!!!!! I am so happy =D Finally the news has come.
I see some of you want or have heard that is is going to be 3-d. Of course, it will most likely not be. If any of you play No Limits, you know that even with just one coaster that is semi-complicated the frame rates can slow way down, especially if you don't have a super fast computer. Even I, with a 1.6 Ghz processor, can experience extremed drops in the frame rate. But this of course is only for one ride, and flat ground. Imagine if there RCT2 was 3-d. Every single ride in the park would be moving, and the game would also have to create all the scenery and land changes. This would creat a tremendous drop in the frame rate, soo much that the game would be pointless. And also, imagine how long the wait would be for the game to calculate shadows and create ride vechicles. Even on no shadows and worst detail settings, the load time would be huge. For these reasons, a 3-d RCT2 can almost completely be ruled out, due to the impracticality of it.

LOL arrow guy......Ive always wondered that one.....Oh, and I do hope he found it in his heart to include 4D and B&M flyers. O what I could do with a B&M flyer in RCT! I would love to see the little trains going up into flying position in the game. I cant wait, it just might get me playing the game again as i havent played in a couple of months. :)

Something to look forward to at the end of the coaster season, that is probably some good planning. I don't care about the 3D aspect of the game myself. I just want better graphics, more control, and of course flat rides. Some fun and challenging scenarios would be great also.

Some of you looking for variable sizes and angles and such will likely be sorely disappointed. If it is once again a sprite-based "sim" view game, you won't have anything quite that free. Everything in the game is pre-rendered, so you can't just change the look of it in infinite degrees of change.

I really just want the game to stay the same. I mean, just add some more rides and features. For one i think a 3D version would just slow things up. I also wish we could still keep our saved games and switch to RCT II. It would be kool adding the new rides to my old saved games. I hope expectations aren't to high. But maybe we will be suprised and it will be even better than we think.
This is GREAT!!! I can't wait.
