I never said I go to parks to get drunk. I said I go to parks with my friends to have a good time - to have fun - Just like the rest of the world. Just because I may have a few beers doesn't mean I'm automatically going to get trashed and start kicking babies.

And yes, I would say a number of posts in here deal with people bragging of the various coasters they rode under the influence of various substances. Unless they were drunk only for the three minutes between the time they boarded and got off the train, but were stone sober the rest of the time.
I never thought there'd be a time when I'd actually appreciate Pennsylvania's otherwise archaic liquor laws. Well, guess there's at least a few people here I won't be seeing at a PA park. Gee, I'm almost all choked up.
No one said we were drunk at parks all the time, and no one said we were getting completely wasted, like frat-party level either.
I said earlier in the thread, when we're speaking of getting drunk, we're mostly talking about being slightly to moderately more than buzzing.
When I get completely rocked, I get lazy. There's no way you would find me in that state of drunkeness at an amusement park, that's just not the kind of thing you want going on.
Of course, you probably won't read this and if you do you probably will just disregard it and pass it off as coming from another one of "those types of people" but I wouldn't expect anything less.

I never said anything to indicate I'm some kind of prohibitionist or a teetotaler. I just believe there's a time and a place for everything and an amusement park is not the right place to get drunk, moderately more than buzzed, or whatever you want to call it. I just don't understand the obsession of society in general who can't seem to experience anything unless generally "mind-altered." (cue up the Cole Porter)
RGB, who was in a fraternity when most of you were still pooping in your diapers (and no, I don't mean last year!).
Have you seen Scarface?
Yeah.
But have you seen it on weed?
Well, maybe I see what you are getting at. I like my recreational avtivities and there's nothing wrong with it. At least, no more than getting drunk. At least when I'm high, I am in total control of my hands at the wheel of my car and if anything, I am more paranoid and take greater caution as to how I'm driving.

Once again you have proved to me that you can't post anything without putting words in people's mouths.
I never once said that I do it all the time, or that its the only way I can enjoy a park. Hell, I enjoy going to CP on the weekends just to be there. I have gone and ridden one or 2 rides all day and just taken photos all day long and still enjoyed myself.
I don't get in anyone's way when I'm drinking, I don't harm anyone, and I don't act rowdy and out of control.
It's really not yours or anyone else's place to tell those of us who enjoy our alcohol that we have no business enjoying it at an amusement park.
-Josh
You on the other hand seem to be putting words in my mouth. Where did I accuse you of being drunk all the time?
I just hope that parks that do serve alcohol have policies in place to prevent that alcohol from being abused and protect the rights of other guests from having to put up with drunken guests.
BTW, Coasterbuzzer. You should note that people who think they're being really, really cautious when they drive are the biggest tipoffs to the police.
I don't HAVE TO be buzzed to enjoy a park. Especially if its one I haven't been to. Sure, at my home parks, I drink more. It's an extra "thing to do" at the park, especially when then lines are long or I just don't feel like waiting to ride.
The solution - go catch a show at the Red Garter or Last Chance Saloon. Simple as that.
Then there's the option of TGI Fridays or Famous Dave's for dinner, which also serves alcohol if I choose to participate in drinking, once again.
Then there's college sports days at the sports bar inside the park, which also serves alcohol.
Again, these are all activities or "things to do" at the park that are part of everyday operation.
I'm sorry, but power-riding and marathoning just got old, so now I relax and enjoy myself however I want.
Do I need alcohol to enjoy a park? No. There's a lot of stuff that's enjoyable without alcohol, pretty much everything but that doesn't mean drinking is bad. Hell, let's not forget I also like the taste of beer.

So wait...you're saying we shouldn't be kicking babies? There goes my vacation plans. :(
I am with Raven-phile. Beer tastes good, and I am glad that parks serve beer. Sitting down with my buds at one of the park bars, is a nice way to relax after riding coasters.
RGB. Considering the price of beer in theme parks, I doubt alcohol abuse is a problem.

At USH this past march, I had an Arbor Mist before I rode Jurassic Park and a second helping of Mummy. I couldn't even tell I had had any alcohol at all. But so what if I had?
Why does a park need a policy in place for alcohol consumption? The laws work just fine if they're enforced at the park. Drunken Disorderly and Public Intoxication still apply, I would imagine.
You're making a mountain out of a mole hill with this. How many people on this board have been drinking at a park and bothered you? How many people have done that to you period?
Now guys, what I meant was I was HIGH from the ride. Really. ;-)
