Over the last two weeks, the anonymous owner of Geauga Lake's Big Dipper tried selling the coaster on eBay. Through that process, we've learned a little more about the man, the anger directed at him, and his history with The Big Dipper. A representative says the ride will be demolished September 15 without a buyer.
Read more from WKYC/Cleveland.
Regardless of how the adds were displayed - I just don't think it was an attractive buy for anyone.
Nothing to see here. Move along.
Oh, I was just making a poor attempt at being funny. As if the listings were ransom notes. Get it? Never mind.
I agree, the listings have nothing to do with it.

I got the ransom note reference, but wasn't sure if you were joking or not, because you used a :( instead of the obligatory :) ;).
;)
My bad. Can I create a winkie frowny guy? ;(
That was the problem.

To me Big Dipper was an ok ride who's only claim to fame was it's age.
The trains were a bastardized reproduction of a NAD design and if you sat in the back seat of a car it bottomed out so badly that it made Sonny feel comfortable.
Let the thing die, it had it's time.
There is a coaster next to a campground in Southern Ohio that is a far greater loss as it was spectacular and that is Screechin' Eagle at Lesourdsville Lake/Americana

How long has Eagle been SBNO? I should think it would be virtually unsalvageable by now.

Eagle is likely too far gone, but it is still the far greater loss then Big Dipper, and it went without a whimper.
Sad it ran less then a season after CCI did so much work on it for it's reopening.

I wish I had embraced my addiction...er, I mean, enthusiasm, years earlier and made it down to Lesourdsville Lake while it was running.

During the first Coasterbuzz Con at PKI a large group of us took the trip to Lesourdsville, as Rob said still the only standup woodie I have ever ridden.

Eagle was truly a magnificent ride. And that back seat was nothing short of amazing.
Do have to question the phrase (in regards to Dipper's back seat) "bottomed out so badly" - pretty sure that's supposed to say "bottomed out so WELL"...but that's a matter of personal preferences... ;)

Bill, I meant badly! My coccyx still hurts all these years later!

If the super-secret mystery buyer would have just been up-front with everyone and not so ...mysterious, maybe some of the potential buyers would have taken the sale seriously. ...Perhaps. The owner seems so shady.
