RCT3: Cape Typhoon Wish List

I agree with Gonch totally...I think this game should have been released this year..say sometime around June or so...I would have rather waited that long instead of going through the crap of downloading patches that don't hardly work...I would have rather you took your time and released it when it was bug-free and playable.I think gamespot as of now give it a 7.8, but if I had to rate it on the box release without the patches....2.5 with the patches 4.0. Atari just needs to fess up that they screwed up big time on this game and stop jerking us around with these damn patches!!! *** Edited 1/26/2005 9:12:38 PM UTC by Evolution***

Beta hasn't begun yet, so I don't know anything. I just know that the development phase is winding down right now, so last minute suggestions now might make it in game.

Sry I know i'm really late in saying this but i just read this forum. Bob your few good men impression was awsome. That is the funniest thing i have ever seen on this site and it will be almost impossible to beat.

They made you a beta tester? You dont even know any thing about a development cycle. If they are just finishing development, they aren't going to put anything new in the program. In fact, once development starts, a project manager is loathe to put anything else in the production schedule, lest the project get bogged down in scope creep.

If you actually are a tester, my guess is that you will have absolutely NO say in what goes into the final product. My actual guess is you're just here blowing smoke up everyone's a$$ for your own entertainment.

Sorry, but thank you for playing. Please enjoy our lovely home game...

Certain victory.

For those keeping score at home, that's 2 points for Kick The Sky and 0 for RCT_MASTER. However, he won't leave home empty handed. Tell him what he's won, Bob.
A beta Version of Crap, Neuski. Complete with a Rocket Coaster that does only one thing (unlike real life), an S&S coaster that only does one thing (unlike real life), and a game that literally sucks major @$$ because it dosen't work, wasn't finished, and I'm tired of writing 4 page letters to Atari to try and get things done.

Now Back to you, Neuski.

Um so far the rockets have done one thing rather nicely in real life & that is....break down(cough TTD cough cough).
One example of 3 there, BWSFA.

But I'm sure you'll ask that RCT3's expansion adds something to SFA, so why even bother?;)

The only reason I'm not inclined to agree is that they shipped crap and didn't get the gameplay even remotely OK without patches. That says to me they had some really free and loose "requirements," if they had any at all.

Triple Shot & Drop Tower S&S granted it's nothing new but I think it would be a cool touch if all 3 towers were connected at the top with the triangular peak.

How about including SOUND for those attractions first? And while we are at it, they could maybe...oh..I don't know...FINISH the game first. It's getting there, but not there yet. Too many things missing (like sound effects) or don't run right (like most of the water rides being too fast) and the group AI is pretty messed up. Peeps have a hard time meeting their needs even if you have plenty of restrooms, food and drink stands available.

This is actually turning out to be a very funny discussion.

While I have no doubt that people out there are having trouble getting the game to work properly, it seems to work fine on my sh*tty computer.

There's just only tiny problem to fix for it to be enjoyable... the game isn't fun! (I know....details)

Whenever I play RCT 3, I get the same feeling as when I'm doing homework.

But seriously, I'll play your game and give my suggestion.... Atari absolutely needs to re-include the option for one price for all concession stands. It's such a pain in the ass to have to go through and change the prices one by one on each stand. And not only is it tedious, but it's unrealistic. What amusement park have you been to recently where the price of a coke is different from one shop to another?

If the game was programmed logically (which I'm sure it wasn't) then fixing this should be easy... all you have to do is make the item price attribute for each shop static and you're done!

Did the designers even play the first or second game at all? I'm just curious if they overlooked the ability to set one price for all the same items, or if they thought people enjoyed manually changing prices.

The second patch includes a checkbox to sync prices across stands of the same type. (like RCT2)

But you're right, there's just some intangible missing that makes the game fun. I have no suggestions, I don't know what it is myself. I could play the first two and lose hours at a time. I have a hard time pumping out a one-off coaster in one sitting in RCT3.

I don't even take issue so much with the crappy performance of the game, I just wish I found it more fun to play.

That's me. I'm the type that would rather design and build theme parks (I've never done one scenario in RCT2), and I still don't like it that much. I can do just about everything (except larger corks and overbanks) in RCT2. I'd be happy with a few more coaster choices and options. Esp. for things like Rockets and TA2Ks. The game looks incredible, if only it worked and was more 'fun'.
This time you said it Tekno, not me.

At least by the time this new expansion is released I'll have a new PC that'll be capable of running the game....til then it just sits in the box gathering dust although I can at least read the manual from time to time so as to prepare for the frustrations that are bound to be ahead when I finally do get the game running.

BFSFA, if you look at my benchmarks, that still could be debatable on large, complex parks.... *** Edited 1/27/2005 6:56:05 PM UTC by redman822***

And what's even worse is that Mystic Acres with no peeps is still only 25% of the available maximum map size.

If a top end machine is getting as low as 3.5 FPS on a park that usues only 25% of the available map and no additonal peep processing - that's insane.

Thats more than insane, there is not work, maybe NUTS would work better a bunch of duma$$'s at atari, could of designed it alot better. Most games I play run smoothly, unlike RCT3 that clenches to your PC with all its might and won't let go! LOL! Talk about problems to fix! ;) I must agree with you Gonch, its boring, and it can't even function correctly (Mystic Acres) on the highest end pc in this group! *** Edited 1/27/2005 9:03:00 PM UTC by DC2Beltz3***
I think the main reason the game isn't fun is because it's not realistic and it runs horrible. I think most were expecting a game that was like No limits/RCT combined, I know i was. I wanted a game where the coasters building had no limits far as height, speed, SIZE of ELEMENTS, yet were still stuck in that RCT world. In RCT the drop can be 300 feet, but the overbanked turn after it is only about 80feet, who thought of this crap. Coasters such as the Rocket, TA2K, Dive Machine, and others have no elements at all or only one or two. The B&M coasters one might have large half loops the others don't, one might have overbanked turns while the others don't. They gave the zero g rolls to the vekomas while non of the B&Ms have the zero g. Some of the powered launches max out at 27mph, The flat rides pretty much are a waste of time because they have the excitement ratings so low. The peeps want even ride the flat rides for free. The Intamins coasters have no inversion elements no making Storm Runner type coasters in this game. The theming items are very limited, the only themed section you can really make imo is western. All the other themes seem imcomplete imo. The game is designed so horrible that its not even running right on brand new top of the line more then a teenager needs in their room because it could be used to fully operate a busniess 2/3000 dollar machines and it still doesn't work right............catches breath....Yes this games needs lots and lots of work because imo it is just unexceptable. You wouldn't go out and buy madden 06 to find out its playing/designed like madden 86.

That is what happenes though, when greedy people are consummed with making large sums of money. They ending up not caring at all about the quality of the product, they just want the loads of money they get from selling their falsly advertised crap, One example SF

Yeesh, whatever happened to this site?

All's I asked is what you guys, the hardcore enthusiasts, what you would like to see in the expansion, thats's all.

But instead you jump all over me, essentially saying that it's my fault that this game is 'a piece of ****', which I dont think it is. If you hate it so much, dont respond to this topic, or post to Atari.

Hell, I remeber the days when Jeff jumped over anyone who made more than 2 typo's in a post. :)

And yes, I can contact the DEV's, but without any suggestions, I have nothing to pass along. *** Edited 1/28/2005 10:45:01 PM UTC by RCT_MASTER***

Rightly so, but just cos you don't think it is doesn't exclude others from thinking differently. I reckon the general feeling wherever you look is of being CONNED. Look around and take the blinkers off - it seems to be that people think the game should not have been released in the state it was.
