Raptor Clone

I was at RCDB looking at parks in an around Japan and I found this one park with a Raptor clone called Orochi.

Just not right...

I'll pack my bag, take my stick, and go home now.

It's hard to believe that there is a Raptor clone. It's not right, but B&M has rights to the ride. They designed the ride.

I wouldn't want to see a Raing Bull clone...

Well, IMO Raptor has a MUCH better paint job.  At least it isn't called Raptor. :)

I took that picture, and yes...it is a replica of Raptor.  I actually like it a bit more.  Don't really know why...it just seemed a little more intense through the last helix.  You are right.  The paintjob is horrible, but every coaster at Expoland has a whitish look.  Too bad....  Orochi is the only coaster worth its salt there.  Fujin Daijin II is the worst TOGO ever.  A horrible and scary experience.   They do have an amazingly long (*yawn*) coaster there that used to be a dueling steelie called Diadarasaurus.  Check out the other pics I took at RCDB.

I belive that Orochi is not the only Raptor clone. I belive that there is at least two Raptor clones.

Whats wrong with cloning a great ride... how many people actually know that there is a similar ride to Raptor on the other side of the world.

I realize that things are a little boring right now, but this topic was done in the last year.

Andrew, Orochi is the only Raptor clone.  There are some inverted coasters similar, though...

Cheaper for the parks to buy an "already designed" ride.  Someone else paid for the engineering!  Naming, theming, and terrain play a very important part in the overall experience.  I REALLY don't care if its a clone (as long as they're not in the same park), and these two are literally half a world away...

I've been on both, and for me Raptor's much more enjoyable.  Orochi was a little rough, and left me with a headache.   Raptor, though, is my favorite inverted coaster so far.  When I found out they were clones, or  mirror images of each other (which I think is the case, actually), I was quite surprised...they just don't seem like the same ride.

I've also heard that Katun is very similar to Raptor. Anyone have any additional info on this one?
Stealth you say B&M has rights to the ride and thats why they built Orochi because they could.

Rethink what you say and then get back to us. , Scott(Chitown)

It's not my fault I haven't been at CB for a year Intamin Fan.

Are you sure raptor isn't the clone?
Everyone, whats up with you guys? Who cares if it's a clone? Should I rip on SFGAdv because they have a clone of SFGAm's Shockwave? I think not. Should I rip on SFGAdv, SFStL, SFoT, SFoG, SFMM, SWT, and a few Japanese parks because they have a clone of SFGAm's B:TR? I think not, because who really cares? No one. So why are you making it sound like it's bad that Japan has a Raptor clone?

I think it's cool that Japan has this clone. That way if anyone in the Land of the Rising Sun wants to ride Raptor, but can't afford to get to CP, they can just go to a park in their own country! No harm done. If it bothers you that there is a clone of a coaster which was first installed in America, and now is somewhere else, you really need something better to do.

Hey, SFGAm management, can I buy a couple cages of Sky Whirl?

I did'nt mean to sound like I was saying "Damn **** have a clone of Raptor, kill em all." I was just shocked to see that okay?

Who seems to be more bored? The people who talk about these topics, or those who take time to point out its a boring thread?

Very creative name for a coaster...  Correct me if I'm wrong, but I assume that its namesake is from the Japanese legend:  Orochi, an eight-headed dragon that threatened to destroy the land if it was not given sacrifices of young maidens.
