Rampage repair could be costly at VisionLand

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

Great Coasters International estimates that repairs for VisionLand's Rampage roller coaster could cost $2.5 million, according to a proposal submitted to Themeparks LLC, which lost in a bid against Team Pro Parks to buy the troubled park. Team Pro Parks says they estimate repairs in the amount of $200,000 to $400,000.

Chris, would that be Lesourdsville Lake?

OK John, that's twice that you've suggested a company would make a high bid for something they're not interested in doing instead of just (gasp!) not bidding at all.

Oh crap! I see your point there, Jeff.

However, it was PKI that approched CCI first.

I guess I should quit while Im behind, eh?

Thanks, Chris, you're really not impressing anyone.

CCI has always had a reputation as better designers of coasters, force-wise.

GCI has long been known as the better actual builders, and had better trains. The LoCoSuMo trains would have made things interesting, though. The problem was that GCI seemed really afraid to make a coaster wild, although it remains to be seen if Ozark Wildcat will change that.

In other words, the optimal combo was a coaster designed by CCI and built by GCI. Unless you needed something shoehorned in or made of steel, then CCI was the way to go.

Whatever Chris... you have no resume, no portfolio, no reputation, just a bunch of kids who hang on your every word. You fed one kid some crap who just happened to be involved in something you told her you were working on, and you were caught in a lie, uninvolved. Another kid says you hosted chats where you impersonated industry types. Nobody I talk to knows or cares who you are.

I can smell BS like maple syrup on pancakes and I'd hate to invoke the TON.

BTW, I think the theory's still holding up. The predicted tantrum came right on schedule...

You're wrong about one thing...Godsey *definitely* has a reputation. Just not sure it's one that he wants!

Gee I wonder how he does all of this consulting from his home all by himself??

The address for his business is the same as his home address...weird.

Well I for one would be willing to do the rehab for much less as long as the rehab didn't include operation system, lift motor or train.

Chuck, who finds this figure outragious considering Lesourdsvilles Woodie sat for three winters and most of the coaster required very little work. The first drop and second hill were just a completion of a project started 4 years ago. Basically the coaster was untouched for four years.

Is it about coasters or friends? I say both!

I believe that GCI's are the better structured coasters and perhaps the track fine tunning was taken a little further to prevent furture problems.

But for thills, I'll take the GG anyday.

That figure really doesn't sound right to me... Are they replacing the trains? By the way, fo those Millennium Flyer trains result in more or less friction than the typical two row PTC cars?
heck, I watched the Rattler at SFFT deteriorate to a back breaking hunk of forest in two years with regular check ups... it's quite possible Rampage could be in great disrepair...
I'm just wondering why this coaster that Chris and his team of engineers inspected is a secret.
I don't believe there were many differences in the building *techniques* between CCI and GCI. CCI just liked to use a lot lower quality materials (ie southern yellow pine) Maybe GCI feels the current materials on Rampage are not adequate (to GCI's standards, that is) but their materials standard is fairly high.

As for the trains, I'm not convinced there's a huge difference between what's "better" between the Millennium Flyers and the PTCs. Millennium Flyers are much better for major twisters like the GCI rides, I'm sure, but if PTCs were so horrible I can't imagine why companies would still continue to buy from them year after year.

And IMO, the Lost Coaster trains were absolute crap.

OK folks, I have not gotten involved in this thread until know, but something very strange just happened to me....

I have never corresponded with Chris Godsey before, INCLUDING email. I have also never visited his website.

This thread held no real interest for me....until now.

I just got an email from online@godseyrides.com with the subject header "margin width". There was an attached file....a zip file. The message in the email was "END COPYRIGHT INSERT" Well, wouldn't you know it my anti-virus popped up with a warning (NEVER happens to me).

The only thing I can guess is that he got my email address off this site. (Heck, this email address isn't even on MY website) The only way would havee been through the info page on this site.

Why he sent me a virus (the program is still running), I don't know. I have never communicated with him before and didn't post in this thread until now! I'm just confused.....

So, if you get an unsolicited email from that email address, be suspicious. I think my system is OK......the anti-virus thing is still chugging along and has already redflagged that email. I don't want anyone's computer to get messed up!

OK I tend to not believe much that comes out of Godsey's mouth, but seriously, would he be so dumb to send a virus with an email address like that? In his defense I say no. Something sounds rather fishy.
