PPP Questions

I'm thinking about going to PPP for the first time and I have a few questions.

1.) It says registration is at 11:45am, but you can show up at 6 and register then, right?

2.) Do they run 2 trains on Phoenix/Twister, and how are the lines during the event (6-10pm)?

3.) Is this a good event for me to be bringing a Knoebel's virgin to?

To answer #3 (as I've only been to PPP once), My first Knoebel's experience was at PPP. I loved it.. my first rides on Twister and Phoenix were in the pitch black! So I'd say yes, it's a good event to bring a Knoebel's virgin to :)

Yes, you can register all day, but I'd get there by 5:30 just to make sure you don't miss out on anything. Plus, I'm not sure if you can register after 6. I got there at about 5pm last year and didn't register until about 5:30. *** Edited 9/16/2006 2:38:58 AM UTC by Acoustic Viscosity***

If you only get there at 6 you are really missing out. Knoebels really needs to be enjoyed more then rushed. The place is simply amazing. Long lines are not a problem at all as the two trains on each coaster load faster then ay coaster at Cedar Point.

I've been there before, so I know all about the speedy train dispatches... i'm just wondering how crowded PPP is.

They were only running one train on the coasters last year if I recall. Phoenix had a bit of a wait, but Twister wasn't too bad. The longest line by far was for the haunted antique car ride.

"Registration" pretty much consists of purchasing your handstamp whenever you head to the handstamp office.

The park is open to the public from 12-5, plus there is a craft show in the morning/early afternoon. So if you're there earlier, you need to either buy tickets or an add-on handstamp to go on any rides. There's a combo stamp good from 12-10, plus a different stamp good only from 12-5. The PPP handstamp is only good from ~5:00 on.

Your PPP registration includes coupons for Cesari's pizza and a ride on the Skyway which can be used anytime all day long.

IIRC, there were around 1500-1600 people at PPP in '04 but only around 800-900 last year. Of course last year it rained.

Thanks RGB, all useful info. 1500 people sure sounds like a lot. Coupons for discounted Cesari's or free Cesari's? Either way, that and the free Skyway ride sounds great.

It rained last year but those were the best Flyer rides EVER!

I usually get there around the time registration starts, because it's really an all-day thing, not just Phunfest. It's one of those parks you just have to take your time and take everything in.....the crafts, the food, the atmosphere, etc.

This will be my third Phunfest which is clearly already become a "yearly must-do" thing for me. I can't wait to hang out with my peeps again either, who I haven't seen all summer.

The Skyway is a MUST at nightime! I love that thing! Actually everything is a must-do at nightime! ERT gets pretty wild!

This year will be my first PPP, same as for my partner. We have been to the park at least 10 times this season alone, and might head down later today for a few rides on the best wooden coasters out there! I am excited, I just hope they have Blue Birch Beer....
I'm still looking into it as well, lol. I'll see how things are going around then, but it looks like an EXCELLENT deal and just tons of fun. I've wanted to go in the past as well but never made it. Thanks for the info. everyone.
I'll be attending PPP for the first time also. I've been to this park twice before (in 1988 and 1999) and have been impressed with this park each time. (During my 1999 visit I celebrated my 40th Birthday here by riding my 100th Wooden Roller Coaster (The Twister BTW :) ) I also plan to visit Dorney, Dutch Wonderland and Great Adventure while I'm in the area. (I'll be flying into Philidelphia using a :) FREE :) Airline Ticket I got during my trip to Indiana to attend HoliWood Nights and Rumblefest this past May!)

Dont you just LOVE it when the Airlines Overbook?

:):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):)

(BTW That's One Smiley for each Coaster I've Ridden because of a Free Ticket issued for an Overbooked Flight! If all goes well you'll see Nine More "Smilies" Added to them when I get Back from Pennsylvania!)

Excellent, born.

This year I hope I get to meet more of the folks from here. Last year I only met 2 plus 2 more very very briefly.

Hope to meet some of you there as well. Take a look at my profile pic and then just look for the guy on the phylers who looks like me! :) I'll be there all day Saturday and Sunday.

Hope to meet some of you guys as well! I am shy but very approachable and love meeting new Buzzers. Just look for the cute, brunette chick with the hicklish accent yelling "F*** YEAH!" on the phylers!

I will probably be close to Matt trying to out-snap him. ;)

They were only running one train because of the rain. Skids brakes and pouring rain don't mix well, just ask King's Island. *** Edited 9/17/2006 2:51:34 AM UTC by MagnumsRevenge***

Didn't you vomit shortly after? ;)

Bring it on, Tina! :) LOL at F*** YEAH! I can hear you saying that. :)

Good point about the rain and one-train op. Hopefully this year will be the first time I witness two train-op on the Knoebelwoodies.
