PPP 2007

It was definitely a great day all around. Traffic heading to the park in the morning was backed up all the way to the Sheetz in Elysburg!

It was crazy riding Phoenix and looking directly into the sun while going up the lift hill. Never had that happen before. Once again, I never got my free Scenic Skyride. But the coasters, Phlyers, and everything else were Phantastic!

As far as meeting folks, it's difficult with thousands of people in the park. Took me over an hour to find the people I was planning on meeting. Tina, I spotted you in line @ Cesari's and remembered meeting you last year. You definitely stood out in the crowd. Alfundo, I'm wondering whether we met. By any chance, were you the guy in the Phlyers line I was talking with about the Flyers @ Hershey? The one and only time I saw gator the whole day, he was hugging seat 1-3 on Phoenix. Totally Schmeckified. :)

Short of actually wearing name tags, I don't know how else to be sure of meeting people. But what the heck, I'd be game. I'll take the chance of getting beaned in the head by a rock from someone I ticked off in here.

I don't get the uppity attitudes of some people either. Maybe I'd be more intimidated somewhere else, but Knoebels is my home park, so I'm not overly impressed by someone walking around there acting like their s*** is ice cream. We're all there to have fun right?

I was there and was the person in the White Jay Cutler Broncos jersey. I had some great fun on the Phlyers during the nighttime session. Man there were some awesome pilots there this year.

Tina I saw one of your flights and I must say it was excellent. People around me were commenting on your skill.

As for the other rides.

I still have semi bruised ribs from the entrance to the helix on Twister. Never again will I sit on the right side with someone weighing almost 1 and 1/2 times my weight on my left. I got creamed when we hit that helix. It seemed to be running better with the recent and noticable trackwork.

Phoenix was Phoenix. PURE BLISS!

It was great to be able to see the Turns and see approximately what a car of the train would look like.

I spent a few cycles on the Skooters. But sore ribs tend to make them a different experience.

I finally got on the Satellite for the first time ever and must say I'm disappointed I didn't try it on any of my previous visits. I was just laughing like an insane asylum patient the whole time. *** Edited 10/9/2007 1:27:46 PM UTC by dragonoffrost***

I've met some wonderful people and some unbelievable a**holes. I've also met the latter that turned into the former, and the former that turned into the latter.

Which category am I in?

I was the guy wearing the white Flyer t-shirt that said "Oh snap!" on it. I hope I wasn't rude to anyone. You're all welcome to talk to me anytime. :)

I got some killer phlyer rides in this weekend. After one particularly scary mega-snap which left some marks on me, I started to feel like I was going to break the things and backed off. And then someone hooked the cables like Tina did last year. A little later, a friend of mine hooked the cables even more on the same tub. :)

Dragon, I saw you on the Flyers a few cycles ahead of me Saturday night. I saw you @ Cesari's too, but you were with a group, and I also didn't want to walk up and interrupt you while you were eating. IIRC, I thought you said last year you wore a broncos jersey, and I was wondering whether it was you again.

That settles it! next year the Thursday before PPP we all have to post what we're going to be wearing. LOL! Since we're all telling, I had on a light tan 100th anniversary Hersheypark shirt with a pic of LR.

Just wondering whether it's possible for two tubs to collide on the Flyers. I've seen some near misses this year, including one time when the op took the motor down a few notches and took two kids to task for near hitting each other. Do those near misses look closer than they really are?

Yes Bear, that was me in the queue.

And Dragon I remember you from last year as well. Us Bronco fans have to stick together...good thing I made it home in time for Sundays game...rolleyes

Matt, nice shirt! I must ask how you got a brush burn. A backache or a splinter in the arse I can understand.

I don't think it's physically possible for 2 tubs to collide. I had a scary ride earlier this year when the op was mad at the rough riding and stopped the ride short. This was much more severe then a hard brake as i was in a dive when he stopped the ride, I thought for sure I was going to hit the middle.

I have tapped fins on the flyeres at PGA, but never seen it happen otherwise.

Alfundo, I received that burn from slamming hard into the lap belt thing when I got an ungodly snap high above the ground on Sunday. Thanks for the compliment on the shirt. :)

Matt's very friendly and always easy to locate... ;)

I missed a few of you completely (Joe!) and didn't have enough time with some others, but I try to be approachable...I'm just harder to track down. And whether or not it's worth the effort is debatable... ;)

I made it home to see about 5 minutes game clock time before they spared my tv from abuse by switching to a different game which then caused me to call it a day of watching football.

Yes, I did wear a blue Portis Broncos jersey last year for PPP. I'm thinking as long as the weather allows it I will wear one. If it's colder it could mean the Broncos jacket or maybe one of my Philadelphia Flyers jerseys which are warmer.

I got some poor video footage of two cycles from Saturday night. My camera work is the issue I'm still learning. I might post it online and let people see it but I'm not to sure about wether I want to or not.

I also spent about an hour Sunday taking park stills for a possible website that I keep kicking around if I want to start it.

^I travelled with Gator for the weekend and hardly saw him at Knoebels.

Knoebels is like one huge Merry Mixer-- you keep crossing paths with the same people over and over, but the people on the opposite side you never see. :) or :( as the case may be.

Before PPP, I didn't know it was possible to snap at the top of the swing in addition to the bottom. I saw several people do it, and even got a taste of it myself -- I don't know how, because I can't even snap at the bottom as well as all of you. I still don't have the faintest idea how you hook the cables, but maybe that's for the best. :)

Did anyone happen to note the number of the tub that got hung up? The picture I saw looks like it could have been my beloved 8.

Some tubs get better action at the top. The how part is the same principle, rise or dive faster then the rotation of the ride.

It was either number 10 or number 1. I forget now, but it happened twice on Sunday. *** Edited 10/10/2007 1:45:23 AM UTC by Acoustic Viscosity***

If I get a snap at the bottom, I usually get a snap at the top or vice-versa. I'm not sure what I do differently. On Knoebel's flyers I seem to always get a small snap on top right before the first bottom "ker-chunk!"

All I know is tub #3 had a pretty short belt when I rode it earlier this year, so I avoid it unless it's the last one left.

Since nobody mentioned it yet, no snap nazi this year?

Knoebels are great for snapping. I had tried at other parks(KI, LC, KD, Hershey,) and couldn't get a snap at all. I have heard the ones at KI were great for it, and I couldn't do it. Thought I was just an amateur. Maybe I am. ;)

Went to Knoebels and was snapping away. First time I rode them I took my little nephew on, and didn't realize the ride that we were in for. Next thing you know he was crying, and I was laughing uncontrollably. It seemed to get to a point where I couldn't stop it from snapping.

I was the guy who wasn't there!

After reading these reports it seems like I truly missed a great time.

It just seems that the coaster I was most looking foward to riding in 2007 will be the same one for 2008.

Can that place get any better?

You can get KD's to snap, we have done it many times. However, Knoebles is much easier. I never got Hershey's or KIs to...

The snap-nazi was there on Saturday, he was there early in the POP session for Saturday pre-PPP and I walked by telling my group we'd be back later. *** Edited 10/10/2007 4:04:28 AM UTC by dragonoffrost***
