Pop Ups?

Ok, now I have a minor issue. Is there anyway for you to get rid of those pop ups on the main screen so we can log in. I'm a member and I don't get ad's or pop ups when I log in. I just find it annoying. If not thats fine, Its just a question.
Well if you save your login that should make things a little easier, unless you're on a computer that's not your own and don't want people posting vulgar things under your name, since I've accidentally done that before.
Done what? Been logged onto a computer that wasn't your own or posted vulgar comments under somebody else's name?

As for pop-ups. I can't believe advertisers use them so heavily. Do they really work? Annoying potential customers by beating them over the head with an oboxious flashing monkey really makes somebody want your products?

I don't think pop-ups work but they will not be removed from this site. It has been debated time and time again. Not gonna happen.

Pops pay ten times what banners do, and you're asking me to take them off the page that people land on the most. What do you think I'm going to do?

There will not be any changes to the existing version of the site. I'm not touching any of that code ever again.

Out of curiosity, is there a set number of popups that are supposed to appear? When I visit the main page (using a computer that is heavily restricted, so spyware isn't really a problem), occasionally I'm hit with up to four pop-ups at once, while other times there is just one.

Honestly I don't even know. It depends on how the defaults cascade to each other.

I've gotten as many as six.
My average typically runs around three, while I've gotten as many as five. Is there any way to standardize that?

Jeff: Didn't you say that in the new version you were going to try to make a page that members could go to for login. In turn that page would redirect you to the home page once the email and password had been confirmed (if you were not a member of the Coasterbuzz club you would be directed to the same page but it would have pop-ups).

I remember you saying you were thinking about something like that.

He said THAT code. Not THE code.
Rhino: He'll be completely recoding the site from the ground up for the next version.

Although I want to support this site and Jeff's vocation, let's utilize the tools we have available... Firefox Browser (I have no relation to firefox, I just love it b/c it's fast and helps me browse more efficiently) - it's default settings include blocking popups, and if you're really picky, you can right click the non flash adds and tell firefox not to display images from the site providing the banner ad.

I totally would subscribe to this survice, but I had to choose between the composers forum and this, and the composer's forum can help me get into college.

I sure did forget about that feature, thanks for answering, will there be as many or any pop ups of any sort with the new version?

I accidentally stayed logged on to a website on a school computer and somebody went to the website since it was in the history and started posting... offensive things to say the least. It was very difficult to get myself unbanned -,-.

For those of you using Firefox, they have an extension that allows users to prohibit Javascript from running. Its called No Script, and available Here. While you have to be careful about accessing certain websites (like my banking website), it can also block malicious javascript from ever loading. And It also blocks most pop-up's from loading, or so it seems.

Just a Note, you can set it to allow javascript for certain websites, which i have done for CB since it allows Jeff to at least get some money from me surfing the site.

OH GOD YES!!!! Everytime I log in it's like someone's trying to shoot me. It would be greatly appriciated if you could get rid of those
Popups? I thought those wentextinct with the release of the newest browsers on the internet...
Almost without exception I get exactly one pop up when I bring up the main page... unless I'm using a computer that's not my own, and then I get ~ 3-6.
