Pop-Up Ad

I've been getting a pop-up ad that says, "You have one buddy waiting for you online " or something to that effect.  I know that you have been zapping pop-ups, so i just wanted to alert you to this.

Yeah, I try to leave, and sometimes it still pops up. Jeff, I know the link won't help, but please zap. But it is bonzi.com.

Don't know if you're still killing popups Jeff, but I've gotten this one (You have a buddy!, it's for Bonzi) 9 times in a row just this morning. It comes with a banner ad that has the same message, and it's the only ad i've seen!

I haven't visited the site in the past week or two without having an one popup-ad or another show up. It's really frustrating.

Yes, the add pops up a lot. It gets very annoying. I don't know what you should do, but for the time being, just close the window and forget about it.

Jeff - When I close the window, the pop-up add goes away. It doesn't come back, for me anyway.

NO! DO NOT close the ad. When you close it, it can reappear. As I've said many times, if you leave it open it will reload the ad in the same pop-up. Even when I do cancel the add, it takes a few hours before it will go away.

Again? I thought I squashed that one! One thing I don't like about the way DoubleClick handles ads is that they aren't grouped by campaign, so if they add new creative (an annoying pop-up) it appears again.

Solution:  www.panicware.com has a free pop-up stopper for Internet Explorer. Works quite well.  You have to hold down shift or control when clicking if you WANT a new window to open, but that's a small price to pay to be rid of the ads.

Yes, and that would kill the functions of many good sites where different things pop-up in other windows. That would stop the track record, coaster ratings, favorite topics and mail to a friend functions on this site.

Not really, you can 1) hold down shift or control when accessing known functions of that sort.  2) double click the system tray icon to temporarily deactive pop-up stopper.

For the most part, it's worth it to kill the stupid windows from popping up on your screen.

If you do get it, you should only get it once per browser session, I'm told, so here's hoping that's the case.

Actually it's the trivia ad, which I'm getting too.  For now, don't close it!! Collapse it and it will refresh itself and won't popup again.

The Trivia thing:
The ad is for "InstaPoints", the domain is magazineoutlet.com (something similar). And it is the only ad I've seen today! Usually there's SOME variety...
