I actually like the drop in attendance for PKI a little. The Beast has the shortest line Ive ever seen it have. Ive ridden it a hundred times this summer already, which is a tribute to the size of the line. I use PKI as a standard for every other theme park I go to, and I'm usually dissapointed. Cedar Point came close, but they dont have good enough themes. More coasters though, and thats what I like about it.
Flying Monkey:
PKI's attendnace has dropped? Huh?
Aquila:
Many people here aren't agreeing with because you are going nuts over steel coasters, when many people on here feel like SOB and The Beast are better rides than any steel coaster could ever be. PKI has one of the highest attendance rates (usually higher than cp's, acuatlly) in the country, so as far as I can tell, they are doing fine without the mega steelie. I mean, if i were a PKI exec, and I had more than 3 million people coming into my park a year, I would be more than happy.

The day that I spend more time analyzing the rides than screaming my head off like a moron is the day that I hope someone will kick my in the love sausage and tell me not to be a moron. - Jeff
Yeah Flying Monkey you can almost walk on the Beast these days...After you get off of it you can walk rigth back on it! It seems that most people are all at the Action Zone..Face Off is out the door most times...but what do u expect its only one car...Aquila they put that tower on hold as of now and newport is gonna be better then cincy in the future lol, heck they are putting a city right by the aquarium
All I've got to say is that PKD is pretty much in the same boat as far as as not having a hypercoaster and the lack of flat rides. There still in business.

Batwing-Bow Down
Imagine a LandRover (on Intamin track) racing through a dark cave tunnel at about 60mph...ahead you see a light which grows rapidly...you realize at the last second that the exit leads to a cliff...and out you go in a nose first 200 foot drop into the wooded hills of PKI...
just imagine...
Also, the press release says you go into a face-first nose dive into a pit of lava? That to me says speed and restraints. Remember, they're promising to raise the standard of thrillrides...very interesting. Wouldn't it be great to introduce a 'dark' hypercoaster? Scary, huh?
I thought they already said TR wasn't going to be a coaster? Anyway....
I agree with you, pkifanatic - Newport is really making a comeback. Kentucky knows how to do things right. Cincinnati just sits back and twiddles its thumbs.
I would just like to thank Jeff for really knocking sense into some people. If it wasn't for him...alot of these threads could get out of hand. C'mon...don't judge until we even know what it is!

It's usually fun to be me, but sometimes I need a little love too. --Jeff
By that I mean that the shift has gone towards the front of the park, and the back of the park is devoid of most people. This leaves the ebst coaster in the world open to free usage.
ALthough maybe not possessing the European style theming of Busch Gardens Williamsburg or the areas of say Disneyland Paris, I thought the theming at Kings Island was okay. If anything, I think it would be cool if they made a new themed adventure area with Tomb Raider and also move Adventure Express in that area. That way they could have a more German themed coaster near the Oktoberfest area like Busch Gardens with Big Bad Wolf and Alpengeist. I could also maybe see King Cobra moved to an Adventure area. Would the park be able to do such a thing?

Aquila,
Why can't you ride mega steelies? I used to live in Lexington, KY and used to make the drive to PKI every summer. Now I live in Greenville, SC and the closest place is Carowinds. You guys gotta realize, PC (Carowinds) is, in my book, last in line as far as the Paramount Parks go. We have the one B&M (Top Gun), but outside of that, our coasters are lacking desperately.
Regardless of how you may feel about "non-coaster" attractions, Spiderman at IOA and BGT's Rhino Rally definitely were a sign of the changing times. While I LOVE a good wooden out-and-back, or even better, the fantastic original woodies recently that also have great twister elements (Roar, Ghostrider, etc.), I'd be short-sighted to believe that TR:TR isn't PKI looking to the future of "interactive ride experiences." Remember, PKI said last year that they weren't interested in getting into a rollercoaster arms race. They kept that promise.
I spent the past week at SFWoA, CP, and PKI's First Annual CoasterCamp (it rocked, MUCH thanks to Jeff and Tara in marketing and their tireless (LOL) effort and enthusiasm). PKI seems to have the youngest demographic of the three, and I think Runaway Reptar and TR:TR proves that they understand this fact. Nevertheless, older thrillseekers have great rides too, especially with the rebirth of FOF.
I was told Sonny was running much smoother than last year. I thought a little more tweaking over this off-season, right at the top of the second hill, would make this THE premier woodie for the 21st century rider. Still, going that hard and fast through a woodies' course, not to mention the LOOP, Wow!
Rollergator-intent on improving Guest Experience, coming soon to an amusement park near you.
PKI is not out of the coaster race and has never said so(TM)
Ok I have a question. Do you think the avg person that walks into an amusment park cares that they took out a log ride, or that things don't match? NO!!!! They're there to get their money's worth from some sweet ****! Tomb Rader sounds bad*****can't wait!!!!!!

I love Ceadr Point!!! M. Force is G R E A T!
PKI is cool too!!!!!
Koaster King, PKI said pretty clearly last year they weren't really interested in getting involved with SFMM and Cedar Point in their "coaster count arms race". This is NOT PKI-bashing, I think they've got a great park, and I admire their vision. They will build more coasters, I'm sure, but THEY said that the "MOST coasters in one park" wasn't a goal of theirs...Still, name the park with the second greatest total wooden track length, and how far behind PKI are they?
PKI may well be out of the race, but that was just a rumor that they said they were going to be out of the coaster race. If you can find me a quote or someone to back you up with a quote, I'll believe you. A friend of mine had e-mail one of the PR people, Jennifer Bowers down at PKI and she relied and said that they have never said anything about that and at that point when people clain it was said, Tomb Raider was way into the planning stages and they are in the stages now to continue innovative, record breaking coaster building. So, yeah, they may be out of the "race", but they're not where near out of building.
As a matter of fact the budget for TR:TR won't be $15 million but will be at the least, Jeffery Siebert(a pki official) said $40 million WOW!
P.S. if anyone doesn't know already,
www.pki2002.com has the latest construction updates. The next one will be coming on Wednesday July, 11.
Areas change people...We aren't living in Kings Island's early years. As time goes on areas like RiverTown might die, but were all ready for something new to arrive may it be a roller coaster or not. (At least most of us!) Lets just wait and see what the future holds and not carry on some of these stupid rumors. If you don't have anything to prove there true, keep them to yourselves...
