PKI in ACE News...

It's strange how PKI is such a great park, but only has a couple of GOOD coasters. Now don't get me wrong I love the beast and SOB but come on what else do we really have here? Top Gun is one of the better suspended coasters, but not the best. Vortex will always be an Arrow Death Coaster untill they ditch the OTSH's. And lets not forget FOF, much better without the OTSH's but still just ok...What else? It would make me extremely happy to see a B&M or an Intamin, but would I still go there if they didn't, sure. PKI doesn't need a hyper, they just need somthing that suits them. Now if you asked me, lets call Setpoint and get them a Seismic.....

Why?

That statement above is why Shaggy is the PKI expert.

Why?

I agree Shaggy, while I would like to see a coasterk, a highly themed flat/dark ride would be great. Maybe we'll finally have Oktoberfest rethemed Coney Mall fixed up (much like Rivertown) and a big coaster. I just think PKI will add a good coaster with some overall improvements.

Great opinion and I agree with you much like everyone else here. Here is a simple example(*note example*) Last year I visited SFGAm aalong with my home at PKI 9 times, and also went to CP. Now Cedar Point offers in roller coasters what no other park on the planet can, but when asked between the two good coaster parks and great overall compared to great coasters and good overall, i choose the great overall. Yes I love arriving at CP and knowing the day will be packed with coasters that my homepark doesn't offer and I will encounter what many other parks don't have, but I still prefer the charm that parks like Kings Island and SFGAm bring. I love how when I go into PKI, I can go ride a great roller coaster, enjoy a nice slow paced ride like Phantom Theatre (now SDHM) or maybe just go ride a great thrill ride. When I visit places all wanting the park to have the best when it comes to coasters I just don't feel like I can relax at all. It feels more like I have to rush to ride ride ried where as at a more family friendly atmosphere.

Just recently my parents had another child and one is on the way soon.. Now my mom loves coasters and also wants to make sure that the little one will be able to enjoy himself too. Now if we live exactly the same distance between CP and PKI, she is going to choose PKI easily because she knows that even if she only gets to ride 2 coasters all day, she has a nice selection to choose from, won't feel as if she is swindled out of rides, and she knows she can have a really fun filled day with her small son. I still enjoy walking from Rivertown to HBL and seeing so many little kids running around and all strollers over in that area. If nothing else PKI is really helping the park all around be being at the top of being family oriented. They shorten lines by getting most families into one area therefore making the park always seem less crowded to everyone.

Yes the park could use this new great coaster, but like I and many others have siad, but if they are only going to add whatever they can fit or whatever can win them a coaster award. At the pace they are going I could see them in that top 2, maybe even first, of best park award. No they will never be Islands of Adventure, but that is a theme park. If PKI could become the best amusement park, I think that would show how a park can really be turned around. Shaggy posted it very nicely when talking about Holiday World. When I visited that park I felt no need to point out downsides of the park, if there were any. When I go to a Six Flags park, or any other park of that nature, I feel like looking for the downsides instead of just loving the good parts. When Son of Beast was slated to open and then got delayed 2 onths or whatever(not entirely PKI's fault) I felt like the park was on a downsize. But then they opened with a revamped NC area, and for once the Kings Mill Log Flume (now Wild THornberry's) actually brought a factor that I wanted to re-ride it again.

To rap this up I appreciate any direction PKI goes. Whether they give us two coasters or 10 in the next ten years, I just want to see the park continually be improved. They are doing great at this rate, and hopefully we will see PKI right up there offering what other parks in the "coaster wars" seem to begin forgeting about.

Great post Cameron. I totally agree. PKI does have the better choice for familys with youngins. The kiddy areas at CP are a joke, I'm sorry but I think Runaway Reptar takes up more space than both of their kiddy areas.

I am 22 and I love the Runaway Reptar. P.S. Shaggy's post brought a tear to my eye.
Thanks for all of the compliments. I really rambled on and on didn't I?

I am glad others share the same opinion.

In my book it takes much more than a good coaster or two to make a park a favorite of mine. I have said it before and I'll say it again... every time I walk into PKI I get a terrific feeling I cannot explain. The park interests, intrigues and enthralls me like no other I have been to. As long as I get that same feeling when I walk in the gates, I'll continue to return. The minute I walk in and am no longer feel that way.... I'm history.

That is awesome news. As much as I love PKI I think they are in need for another "major" coaster. It's been three years since the SOB so I am hoping for a Beema, most likey a floorless since you don't see too many B&M inverts going up nowadays.

I am hoping B&M has their own version of a "4th deminsion" coaster in the works that will make X look like a pony ride.

<--------who is having hallucinations of "The Bat's Revenge"........B&M's first 4th deminion "launching" coaster. Black trains on a blood red track.

I am getting carried away now. :-)

I think it's going to be a floorless B&M coaster that'll replace the Vortex.:(

I'm still hoping for an extreme inverted, the likes of Alpie and Pyrenees. PKI could do wonders with one. It could be themed to the Bat as well.

DirtyVern, I don`t think they`ll be replacing the Vorterx any time soon. They spent a lot of money to re-paint it for last season. Also, the ride has tremendous capacity when all three trains are running.

I hearad something that ACENews has published some info about Paramount having 4 B&M's planned for the 04 season.

If this is true then PKD stands a good chance of getting a floorless or flyer as does PKI,my best guess as to where the other two coasters may end up are at PGA & most likely PCW.

I really doubt that PC would add a B&M because lately they seem to be building with the family in mind, now this info can be taken with caution because we don't have any concrete proof just yet but this is ACE we're talking about here & not just someone on a coaster site making up falsae info or wishlists for their homepark, from what I heard we can expect some announcements as early as June of this year.
