PKD changes confirmed at Eastcoaster.

At least you guys don't have Grizzly West. Having been on both, I ask, how did they screw up the second time (pga) after a pretty good first try (pkd)?

And what is with all the hyper talk? Seems like every year all the Paramount parks have some sort of 'rumor' about a hyper, and none of them have one (traditional steel). Everyone should know Paramount is home of the prototypes and family rides. :)

And vacoasterfreak is right on, Anaconda rocks.

You are about to discover what lies beyond the 5th dimension, beyond the deepest, darkest corner of the imagination in the Tower Of Terror.

One: Anaconda never has a line, hence it must not be real popular with the crowds. If it's not the grey-out after the loops, then it's the butterfly element that I don't like on Anaconda. The transitions are very rough through that section. Two: They turned one side of Rebel Yell backwards. Why?, because you'd have some bored ride operators otherwise. There simply aren't enough riders to support both sides if they were both going forwards, because everyone seemingly is waiting in line for Volcano the Blast Coaster, Flight of Fear etc.
In fact, the only woodie at PKD that consistently has a long line is the Scooby Doo coaster. ------------------
This is counter culture from the underground eternal revolution this is our sound KMFDM better than the best Megalomaniacal and harder than the rest
I beg to differ about Rebel yell not having a long line on average.

During my last trip to PKD in 01 Rebel yell had quite a long wait for both the forward side as well as the backward side, things changed by evening though & the ride was a walk on by then, heck I got in a good 15 laps or so without having to get off the train except to switch from the forward side to the backward side & vice versa.

I guess everyone was getting their last laps on HS:XLC that evening which explained why Grizzly was also a walk on during that trip.

The only reason Scooby Doo usually has a long line is because they rarely run both trains.

Anaconda and Rebel Yell are both popular rides. Sure, Anaconda doesn't get quite the ridership it had in '91, but even back then it was a people mover. I don't think I ever waited more than a half-hour for it, and that was for the front car.

I also disagree with Anaconda and Rebel Yell being taken out. I went in July of last year, and everybody was heading to Anaconda since V: TBC was over an hour, and FoF was about 30min., Anaconda was running 2 trains, and they were full each dispach, but there weren't any lines.

Rebel Yell is still a decent woodie, I like the out and back kind for the air it provides, and Rebel Yell has yet to disappoint me. Hurler(though I ride it everytime I hit PKD or PC) isn't that great, but I've learned to ride strictly in the front.

As for Grizzly, it had one of the longer wait times, and I opted to skip the front on that visit, but it was still a great woodie.

If I got my wish, PKD wouldn't get a Hyper at all, but some really good wood(not that I'm complaining about what they have, but I'm first and foremost a wood fan), perhaps a wooden Ultra twister, or something new, but we'll just have to wait and see what happens next year. Who knows, we may get a flyer, since they did get one from Vekoma, and it would be alright for me if they did, esp. a B & M, since Batwing isn't far away, and I've yet to try a Beemer, but since SFA is so close, I doubt it.

Tekno, I don't see PKD getting another woodie. The flying coaster is a very high possibility if you ask me. I'm expecting a coaster next season :)
Yes, unfortunately I highly doubt they'll get one too, but it's a nice thought. They do have 4 (5 if you count RT as 2), and I'm happy with that.

I try not to get too into what I Wish a park would get, cause I've wished for parks to get things, and when they finally did, the ride didn't live up to expectation, though some rides that I didn't expect or want for that matter, have been really great.

A flyer? Really....I certainly don't see one coming to PKD anytime soon. Paramount was SO thrilled about the Vekoma flyer, I don't think they'd buy a Rollerskater from THEM right now. And as far as a B&M flyer, there's one less than two hours away...also not likely IMO. But then again, I don't make any decisions about who's getting what, so there ya have it...

I will go out on a limb and say that I believe PKD will install a Huss Giant Ride next year in place of Diamond Falls.

Mark my words... if I am wrong, I am wrong and will eat crow. If I am right then I am the master of all knowledge that is Paramount. LOL! ;-)

So I'm not the only one who doesn't find Hurler to be all that great,of course I ride it whenever I'm down there simply because it's there.

As far as what's going on diamond falls plot of land anything's possible, like Shaggy has said they might add a huss giant ride like a frisbee or top spin, which they can theme rather well to the congo area or they may add a coaster there.

We won't know anything more till later in the season but whatever ride they add it should be a good one.

'Gator, I think you have it backwards...the Vekoma flyer is less than 2 hours away. Unless you meant S:UF in Jersey, and commonly drive over 140 miles per hour. ;)

Take a ride...

We as enthusiasts know where the flyers & just about every other coaster that's been built in the US are located in relation to each other but the GP doesn't.

Remember the parks spend most of their time & money on marketing to the GP & it's from the GP that a bulk of the profits are made as far as addmissions & so on.

So if PKD get's a flyer don't be too surprised. Look at SFGRADV, now one would think why would they install a B&M flyer when there's already a vekoma flying dutchman 2.5/ to 3 hours away? it's simply because the GP in NJ/NYC isn't aware that there's a similar ride at SFA or even know that SFA exists for that matter.

Good call Vater....but if you recall from the discussion of chris getting to HW in "3 hours or less" from the Windy City, you'll realize CPG members have no speed limits..;). Actually, you are *spot on*, and I goofed...hey, it happens...even to me, LOL...

So maybe there is some faint hope that PKD could get a B&M flyer after all.....but I'm still not buying it (and neither are they, IMO)...;)

I remember when Joker's Jinx was announced and how funny it was that PKD had the same ride enclosed about an hour and a half away. Maybe it doesn't matter then.

Very true, Only 4 things about FoF and Joker's Jinx are different: Paint Scheme, FoF has MCBR, FoF has a loading and unloading station, FoF is inclosed. Still it's the same ride, though I will go out on a limb and say the experience is a bit different, but they are very close, and last time I was @ PKD, I was talking to some people from around Baltimore that were in line for the ride, and they asked me what this was like. I said "Ever ridden Joker's Jinx at Six Flags?" and the woman was like, "Yes, it's my favorite ride there!" and I told her this was the same, only in doors, so i'm sure some people know, since I was not an enthusiast when I went last.

Sorry for the quote but I just wanted to let you know that Runaway Reptar currenty under construction at Carowinds is from Vekoma so Paramount is still doing business with them. I do agree that we will probably never see another Ve(coma) flier in a paramount or six flags park again. Speaking of six flags you can probably throw the Deja Vu style boomerangs into the "Never again" category.

Can the MoJ even travel that fast? Especially when it's full of heroes?
