As we await an annoucement from the park, track, supports, and other parts for a new B&M coaster have begun to arrive at Six Flags Magic Mountain. The track is blue and yellow, while the supports are maroon. The new coaster is rumored to be floorless.

CP is building a coaster this coming year. SFMM didn't expect it (maybe they did, didn't or don't care but who knows). So they had to put together some plans "fast" (mind you in the coaster world fast doesn't really happen with a coaster). I would look for this to be an exact copy of SFGA's new roller coaster considering the time frame.

Good for Magic Mountain! If they have the resources and room, ( I was pleasently surprised how much room there was in the park, when I went back in June), then I say more power to them.
Competition makes people work harder.
Going to be fun to see what happens in 2004...

Not meaning to soud rude or anything, but everyone who is complaining about this coaster being "just another B&M floorless" (if that is what it is) are out of their minds! This is a B&M coaster, which pretty much guarantees that it will be a good, solid attraction that will be dependable, high-capacity, and fun.
You guys that call SFMM your home park have just about every type of coaster imaginable... standing, launched, inverted, hyper... what more do you need besides a wild mouse? Would you like another woodie that will be neglected? Another experimental ride that valleys or breaks down for months at a time?
You should be happy that you're getting anything at all after getting so much in the past few years!

Ugh... Magic Mountain's decision to build a roller coaster had zero to do with Cedar Point. 3,000 miles, different markets, blah blah blah... you've heard it all before.

From SF directly: They want to hold the record for most coasters...period. So yes, that's what it has to do with that park 3,000 miles east. All about TV and marketing. Is there anyone that doesn't think CP's new ride will be on CNN when it opens? Will they do it, who knows. Who cares? It's another coaster on this little planet...so we're happy :)
From an Mech. Eng. point of view:
A company can build or start producing parts of a cloned roller coaster with in a few months time. IT has been done for years and will be done for years (and not just on the scale of roller coasters).
Everything is related one way or another in the amusement buisness wether people what to sit around and say it is or not. That's buisness. No one is saying it's directly related but it could be influenced. And influence can happen in a heart beat ;)

Jeff - Webmaster/Admin - CoasterBuzz.comHe's right, ya know. Six Flags stated in their earnings report conference call that the 4 "big" parks would be receiving new attractions to ensure they continue to bring in money, and they specifically stated those parks were SFMM, SFOT, SFGAdv, and SFGAm and lord and behold, all 4 parks are in fact getting new rides. It's all about keeping the locals interested in coming back to their parks to bring in the money.

Right behind Steel Dragon 2000! haha. Seriously, though, I hope this coaster is up and running soon. I bet SFMM went with B&M because they're reliable and can get their rides working quickly with not that many problems. They're not going to take any chances after Deja Vu and X. I just hope if it is a floorless coaster, that it's intense like B:DK. That would be swell.

I say that in the "battle", if you will, between SFMM and CP will be won by SF in the LOOONG run. It'll be a war of attrition to where CP will eventually run out of room to build LANDMARK attractions.
Advantage : SFMM
But by then, both parks won't be able to be done in a day's time anyway. Why not start now and make sure that what you put in is a QUALITY attraction that stands the test of time, and then tout that folks can have the best time in one day. X and DV aren't exactly people eaters.
Advantage : CP
Regardless, I'm of the opinion that any park building ANY coaster by ANY company (yes even Vekoma) is something for us coaster fans to celebrate about. Go to Nebraska and see if they're picky about whether they get an coaster from Vekoma or B&M.

Getting a B&M will always beat out having to take a BM.
Clone. Ha! This is Magic Mountain were talkin about. Do you think they waited 4 years after the first floorless to build a clone. If this is a floorless it will be the tallest and fastest in the world. They have done this before just look at Riddler.sfmm has to have the record breaking coaster. it just there style

FYI, a truck load of large, shiney magenta supports arrived yesterday on a truck from the Arrow Shipping Company - unrelated to the coaster manufacturer but you have to agree its pretty ironic!
There is also some word from a few sources that this will indeed NOT be a clone, but nothing concrete such as a layout or stats yet to back that up
Moosh - would have preferred flats.

Tired or searching for amusement park Xmas cards? Check my sig for a big announcement coming VERY soon!
I went to the mountain yesterday for Fright Fest, enjoyed relatively short lines for Deja-Vu and X, and was able to spot the track from atop Riddler's Revenge. Does anyone know where exactly the markers are and in what area of the park it may be?
BTW, GO BLOOD FALLS!!! (I'm just another idiot with my caps on ;))
