Park with the best atmosphere

-Dollywood
Great Mountain Setting and Overall Country Atmosphere. Theming is taken to the extreme, and is in some ways stronger than Islands of Adventure

-Busch Gardens Williamsburg
Once again, great theming, and great Scenery and Very Clean

-WDW's Magic Kingdom
Top of the line in atmosphere. While I've seen the "decay" of Disney Parks over the last decade, I still think that WDW still needs a little recognition, since nobody will admit it.

-Islands of Adventure
The exact reason Disney can no longer be the King of Theme Parks.

I thought "Best" threads were illegal.

Almost any park to me has "great atmosphere" - there are exceptions but I won't name names here. For me, at least, the Busch parks offer unparalleled atmosphere (except for the "big" theme parks like Disney, Sea World, Universal, which offer a different type of 'destination' atmosphere). Almost "escapist" in quality, the Busch parks offer their own unique quality and feel which is unmatched by most other parks.

For example, at BGT, I really do feel like I am in Africa - it's hot, smelly, and really humid. But seriously, very close attention to detail is paid to theming, and every effort is made to bring guests close to the wildlife (really, it is more of a "zoo" than an amusement park). Also BGW's "old country" feeling is incorporated not only in its rides and attractions, but shows, gift shops, and restaurants. Where else can you go to an amusement park and buy a German beer stein? Or a cuckoo clock from the Black Forest?

I guess that's why they've won the golden ticket award and have held it for as long as they have.

I also think Dollywood is one of the best. It gives you an old country feeling... With beautiful flowers and landscaping.

In no particular order: Indiana Beach, Holiday World, Knoebels, Kennywood, Silverwood, the Coney Island area, Lake Compounce, Idlewild, Lakeside, Santa Cruz Boardwalk, Enchanted Village, and Rye Playland

Well, I haven't been to Lakeside or Idlewild, but I'd have to agree with the others....(even though I only got to *see* SCBB)....HW for me is the "perfect" atmosphere, followed next by KG.....I'll kick in HersheyPark as well...(of course, their *atmosphere* includes a smell you can't find at other parks, LOL)....Kennywood was "steeped" in history (as were Coney, Rye, and LC), and that goes a long LONG way with me...SDC was on *that* level as well, as is BGW, the major themer with the best atmosphere IMO...

I'll also add the first visit to Knott's was THAT amazing in terms of atmosphere....

bill, disappointed to miss Lake Winnie/RRR events this year...heard great things about Lake Winnie...

Cedar Point by far i mean really who has 16 rollercoasters that are just incredible and 2 of them that just totally kick as MF and TTD Cedar Point it really is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING
OK, here's my list:

Blackpool Pleasure Beach. The place is just so full of energy, of nostalgia - it perfectly fuses new and old together and attracts a lively crowd.

Disneyland. A really heartwarming place in my opinion. I really liked it there.

Islands of Adventure. I really love the music at the park which I think contributes a lot to the atmosphere. Parts are colourful, parts are mystical, and other areas are electric. Always a good mixture of styles.

Walt Disney World Resort and Cedar Point are my top 2 picks.

WDW brings the "kid" out of you and all the "cast members" are friendly and helpful. The scenery is beautiful and the whole area is a prefect fit.

Cedar Point brings the "adult" out of everyone. Record-breaking coasters just about every year with some being the most intense rides ever thought of. The staff is friendly and everyone seems to enjoy themeselves at the park

Top 3 Steel Coasters: Magnum XL-200, Millennium Force, Top Thrill Dragster

Until recently I would definitely have put CP down as #1 for atmosphere, but then I went to Canobie Lake...just brilliant!

As far as SFNE goes, maybe I hit a bad day when I was there, but I cannot imagine people seriously listing this park for atmosphere - the day I was there the place really sucked. Big Time. I rode each coaster once and left.

So far I have not been to any SF park that has the kind of *atmosphere* that makes me want to go back. I will go back to SF parks since they have some good rides, but the motivation is to ride the rides, not soak up the vibe.

I could have spent the whole day at Canobie Lake, not ridden a single coaster, and still have had a great day.

Steve

Indiana Beach is my pick. I love this park, it has something to do for everyone and it is located on Lake Shafer. Its a place my whole family enjoys going to from my grandparents to my little cousins.

Seriously now, BGW and CP are among my favs; and HP isn't too bad either. Just about anywhere that I have a good time.

"Traditional" feel - Indiana Beach or Knoebels. Dead even.

"Modern" feel - IOA, hands down (with a distant second in CP).

I agree with just about all previous posts, so I'll put in one that I haven't seen -

The mountain at SFMM. Walking up past Viper, under Revolution, and toward Psyclone is one of the prettier parts of any park, I think. The way the trees surround the entire walkway, with revolution zooming overhead...it really is one of the prettiest things I've seen in a park. Actually, that whole area is really nice up on top of the mountain. There's that nice little Japanese Garden that I bet a lot of people walk by and never realize its there.

Even though it my homeparks biggest competition, I must give it to Hersheypark. They do have good atmosphere.

My current favorite home video game!

Lake Compounce is amazing atmosphere. The mountain, and the lake plus the 157-year old charm. The entrance to that park is like going back to the first golden age of rollercoasters with the Wildcat in the heart of the park and the old Main Street. Lake Compounce's atmosphere is among the best, if not the best.
