I heard if they drop the Paramount name they'll rip out all of the theming that isn't a CBS show.
So then my question stands: What to do with IJ:ST. Theme it to CSI?;)
They Live. We Sleep.
It is sad at how little music MTV and related companies play. With both MTV and VH1 you have to stay up to all hours of the night to catch videos, and those tend to be on a loop. If you're lucky, you'll get to see more than 40 seconds of a video on TRL.
)...I can't seem them tying a ride to an MTV program (Viva La Bam, Punked etc.)
The Viva La Bam Experience:
While you stand in the queue for an hour (playing CKY and HIM throughout the line, of course), the gang takes sledgehammers, chainsaws, buckets of paint, bulldozers and other various impliments of destruction to your car. Once you reach the end of the queue, Uncle Vito appears on a monitor and mumbles something incoherent. You are then blindfolded and walked hastily to your car where you're promptly slapped in the face with a large fish, kicked in the nuts and then unblindfolded to be shown your car.
Hilarity ensues.
I do wonder if Time-Warner could not run the parks better though? But dont they alrady own "Movie World" parks?
Oh and PS) I think CBS's Kings Island has a ring to it!!!! ha ha ha *** Edited 7/11/2005 11:07:15 AM UTC by Landon***

Thank you for your patience with all of these wierd questions! Here's why we're asking. Viacom, the media conglomerate that owns (among other things) CBS, MTV, Nickelodeon, Simon & Schuster, the Comedy Channel, Nick@Nite, etc will soon be splitting in half. One half will be called "Viacom" and the other half will be called "CBS."
When this split happens more than likely Kings Island and all of the other Paramount parks will be joining the CBS side of the business. The purpose of this survey was to give us some sense of what you, our guests, will think of the shift.and how much you like or care about CBS, our new owners.
Anyway, back on topic, honestly, I could care less if Paramount drops the names. As long as they rip nothing out of the parks, coaster wise, then I'm all for it.

Actually, no one is 'jumbing to conclusions'. I stated that this is only being discussed, and we were discussing possible scenarios. The survey questioned elements of the parks name, but we all know that the Parks division is going under CBS.And no one here ever said that we expect them to rip out everything that isn't a CBS show. In fact, I've not seen any rides directly themed after anything CBS.
CBS and Viacom are still going to be pretty interchangable, we know that. Much like when Microsoft 'split', I'd assume. This is a discussion board, we were discussing.
Edit: spelling and there's probably more mistakes. *** Edited 7/11/2005 3:19:09 AM UTC by TeknoScorpion***
For the record, I wasn't responding to your post(s). This is the post to which I was responding:
"I wouldn't mind if "Paramount" was dropped from the Kings Island name, but if the name is going to be removed, what will come next? Does that mean all ride/attractions will also have to have the Paramount indicators removed? Kings Island doesn't have enough themeing as it is, let alone actually removing some! What happens to the billboards and other signs on Italian Job? Will the video on Tomb Raider changed or thrown away? Can you imagine how even more bland Action Zone would be if all the movie posters were removed?
I say keep the Paramount name, for the park's sake."
And, perhaps this was meant in jest, but if so I didn't get that on my initial read. And, if it wasn't a joke--then, yeah, I think this is a pretty big leap in logic from the target in that survey.
For the most part, in conversations, unless we are talking abbreviations on here where PKD, PKI, PCW (and even then saying PCW is confusing... Carowinds? Canada's Wonderland?) how may times do people refer to the parks by their FULL names?
So, name them Paramount's Carowinds, Kings Dominion, or Kings Island: A CBS Company (and I assuem that last line would appear in small pring under the main name) and it means little... they will still be known as Carowinds, Kings Dominion, or Kings Island.
Call them MTV's Carowinds/Kings Dominion/Kings Island/ Canada's Wonderland... well... that would be the only bad choice of the bunch. I agree with the comments about MTV not having a good rep, still possibly being a fad that just might not yet have run its course, or at the VERY least, not being taken seriously by many (myself included). You want to have an MTV Zone in side of a park... fine... but don't brand the whole park with that name. Might be considered very Hip... very Now... but also very short sighted as trends and tastes change. *** Edited 7/11/2005 12:34:21 PM UTC by SLFAKE***

There was no leap in logic involved. I was just stating the worst case scenario in a "what if?" fashion to support my belief that the "Paramount" should stay.
Yeah, I understand, and I realize what your concerns are. The thoughts of "CBS's Kings Island" pretty much turn me off too...
Businesses tend to act in ways that are in their own best interests. And, it would be in no one's best interest (Viacom, Paramount, or CBS's parks) to remove the Paramount (or Nick) themeing. Not only would the rebranding be extremely expensive for the parks, but it would take away a promotion outlet for Viacom/Paramount. The way they handle the licensing may change, but it's still in both party's best interest to maintain the relationship between the studio and the parks.
I imagine this survey created much more of a controversy than they intended. And, I still wonder if it's the marketing guys gathering data to support keeping the "Paramount" brand if it becomes an issue.
Also, isn't MTV staying on the Paramount side of the company after the split?

Now, do you know what CKY stands for?
Admitting that would just make me a bigger tool. I'm in too deep already.
Bam is pretty much the only reason I ever flip to MTV anymore. They even moved Wildboyz to MTV2.
Everything else sux.
"Park News - (7/12/05) Geauga Lake will host live tryouts for Survivor 13 hopefuls on July 21st from Noon to 7pm at the Water Ski Stadium. Once you complete your audition tape, the park will refund your park admission ($24.95) and you can spend the rest of your day in the park for free."
So, at a time when the parks will be under the management of CBS--and they're even enteraining the idea of renaming them--a CBS television show holds auditions at a Cedar Fair park??
Way to take advantage of that corporate "synergy" <G> *** Edited 7/12/2005 7:15:20 PM UTC by JZarley***
Can you develop a family friendly attraction with a CSI tie-in? Do you want guests getting involved in bug-eating contests like Survivor and Amazing Race? (Let's see how Universal's Fear Factor works out.)
I would like to see a Big Brother / Survivor spin. We could band together and form an alliance to vote the morons and slobs out of the coaster queues...
"CBS Canada's Wonderland" would be a very tough sell in the regional market, where the most popular CBS shows (listed above) are simulcast on Canadian network carriers with Canadian brading (such as Global or CTV) and only the crappy reject shows can still be viewed in the original CBS branding.
