Other things to do in Sandusky...

If you're looking to avoid hillbilly, Ohio/Pa is definitely the wrong place to be! Cleveland, Pittsburgh and Cincinnati are a nice Urban/suburban break, but wow, everywhere else ... might as well be West-by-god-Virigina! ;)

Thank you Gemini. I tried to make that same point to people on this site a while back. ;)

I defy someone to find a farm on 250 from Route 2 to downtown Sandusky. If that's "hick", so is Boardman Ohio (just south of Youngstown).

It will be so great to have that new Super Sam's Club! ( end sarcasm) Seems to be the trend in Boardman, abandon a building and just built a larger one. Goldsteins furniture is now doing it.

YOUNGSTOWN 2010

I live in cortland near mosquito lake and thats right outside of youngstown. Its an old historic town but today it is mostly new housing developments. The only bad part is that r school district is combined with bazetta twnsp And alot of people thier r hicks cause its a farm community.i guess that u find a little bit of that everywhere nowadays. The eastwood mall now also is abandoning sams club (very crappy) and building a new 1 by lowes.

Seriously though, I was surprised to see a Margaritaville in town. I haven't been to that one, but the one in Capitola (near Santa Cruz, CA). If you like tequila, woo hoo! If yer too young, I guess you can draw pictures or something. ;)

Good grief you people make "hick" sounds so bad.

I am a born and bread farm boy hick and get this I now live in a house trailer. Wanna get stereotypical or what?

I would rather live out here in the country than in any city big or small.

I am proud that I used to spend my days on a tractor and that I used to party out in the woods along with parking way out in the woods. I grew up riding my bike down gravel roads, parkign my butt out in the cold woods for hours on end hoping to shoot Bambi, sitting on the tractor with dad, listening to country music, and looking out of my house in any direction and seeing corn. I graduated from a public school with 54 other people, and that is the average size school around here. Hell I drove my tractor to school on some days. The closest Wal Mart was 25 miles away and that is all there is there.

I guess "hick" is a relative term, but I am proud to be considered one even if that does have a negative connotation to you more gentrified people.

Yah, but if you're only visiting, where can you rent a gun and a dirt bike? ;)

Hey, who's to say we ain't jealous?? Traffic, crime, pollution, noise, incredibly expensive homes? Heck, I don't like to go to clubs too much anymore. All that's left is the beach...sigh. ;)

Sandusky? It gets you out of Tiffen.
Chet and Matt's is a really GREAT family pizza eatery located near the mall that I tell everyone to visit. My #1 pizza.

Stay away from Margaritaville-It's a sham. They pretend that it's owned by Jimmy Buffet. It's not. I predict that one day they will be forced to change their name. The food is pretty good, but I am still angry at being tricked into thinking it was the real deal.

Chet and Matt's is great pizza and great environment. And, It's by the new Pet Supplies Plus! Seriously, though, I like Chet and Matt's.

Preach it brother! While my high school class has around 200 people, I'll try to find you a mapquest map or the area I live in. Farms, farms, farms, a small town, farms, a village, farms, a smaller village, farms, a big town, farms, have I mentioned farms yet?

If they like Italian food eat at Fazoli's. THe food is great and it only takes one minute to get your food. I also recommend Put-in-bay.

Everyone has their own taste in food, but blech, Margaritaville in Sandusky has about the worst Mexican food I've had anywhere. I'd take Taco Hell over that place. I too am surprised they have not been approached by the real Margaritaville about a name change. Maybe they are below the radar scope.
