I'm another one who said cost had little to do with it. Lukedog summed up my thoughts pretty well.

 

I see it as a cost vs value thing. Obviously CP could afford just about any number a coaster company would toss out at them. What they then do (I imagine) is compare the investment to the return. They then go with the coaster that makes the most financial sense to them whether that means the more expensive coaster seems like the right choice or the least expensive or whichever. I don't think it's as simple as waiting for the lowest bid and saying yes.

 

In that sense the actual price doesn't mean much. It's what you get back from those dollars spent. Thus, I doubt the turned any bids down solely because of the price being asked.
