"Off-season" lull starting early?

There is always Dollywood in December. :) There is nothing like riding Thunderhead in 45 degree weather. ;)

I have slowed down big time as far as travelling. I wish I could do more travelling but life's responsibilities take priority. I am sure I will make up for it in the future, though. :)

Besides ski season, I usually get involved with a local community theater this time of year as well. (see sig)

What is this "off-season" you speak of? I have plenty of visits planned between now and March. ;-)

That's why I used quotes, buddy. I know we can stare longingly over to the west for the next few months. ;)

I really dont have an off season in my household as far as interest. Theres always new information being brought home to me to keep me interested.

If anything our big issue is trying to get away from one park to visit the others. This year we only have a 2 month window since BGW has extended into December now. So thats when we start to make the most.

Unfortunately/Fortunately, that means only southern parks though. Its just getting harder and harder to get to the northern ones as thats when our trips away become a tad difficult. I do have Hershey on the schedule for early next year though ::cough Carrie cough::

Yay! Oh great, knowing that I'm sure time will just fly by now! ;)

It would be great to see you guys. :)

Ride, you're heading up to Hershey, so you better hit Knoble's as well. The next time I travel out that way, I'm gonna plan an extra day so I can stop and enjoy it the RIGHT way.

Hmm.. Thats a good thought actually Hopman.. May have to invest in both. Those are 2 that have somehow escaped my list.

I closed out the 09 season at Valleyfair Friday night. Defiantly was the most days Ive spent at a park in one season this year, having a job in Sandusky for a month in June really helped push up the final count:
-1 day at Valleyfair
-2 days at Dollywood
-2 days at HW
-6 days at KI and...
-20 days at CP for a grand total of 31 days at an amusement park.

This year was also was the earliest Ive ever started a season (April 1.)

Outside of a trip to Nick U (havent been there since it was Camp Snoopy) sometime before I leave Minnesota this month Im done with coasters till KI's opening day unless my team somehow makes it to the Rose Bowl (highly unlikely.) Next year Im doing a Disney trip in May, and Ill be moving out of Toledo so I dont really know what parks I will be visiting outside of spring visits to KI and CP (however, with the places Im likely to go and the fact I dont move until June I already have my 2010 CF Platinum Pass.)

Its been a great year, and Ill be sad to see it go but Ive got so much on my plate this winter that April is going to come pretty quickly.

Defiantly...

Why has this suddenly become a common typo/misspelling around here?

Probably because for some reason my firefox spell checker doesn't recognize it (on my desktop or laptop.) I am an a horrible speller, and without spellchecker all my posts would be absolutely laden with misspellings.

Not just you (or is it?) - seems like people around here are doing things with a good bit of defiance lately. ;)

Not that I disapprove...

I always seem to misspell that stupid word. It's always underlined red. Let me try now...

Definately.

...Yep. It's underlined red.

Let me do it again, only this time I will right click it to see other spellings of the word.

Definitely.

Looks like that worked. The correct spelling was first on the list.

Maybe some people are misspelling the word so badly that spell checker can't figure out the right suggestion it should offer.

I'm going to try to memorize definitely right now. Hey! I didn't use spell checker that time. Cool! lol

'Definitely' is definitely one of the most misspelled words. Another one is 'implement'.

Hope you have better luck at Howl-O-Scream than we did last night. At 8:30 when my office manager arrived with her family, they got parked out at Adventure Island. Lines were pretty excruciating for the coasters, what with all the "protein spills" (jello shots and megaloopers don't mix!), and I haven't seen that much line-jumping in a few years, since the bad days at Great Adventure four or five years ago...

I must say Gator, Howl-o-Scream really brought out the goods this year. Granted, Universal had better props, but in my opinion, Busch Gardens had much scarier houses (Reconstruction and the Delta Epsilon Delta being my favorites). All the rides except Sheikra (15 minute wait) and Gwazi (10 minute wait) were walk-ons. I'll do a trip report.

Tina, I did that in Sandusky yesterday, hopefully the lines will be short, because if you have the kinda wind we had yesterday its gonna be horrible.
I also don't know if Millennium Force is the type of ride to ride with the temperature near that, because i could swear i had snot icicles hanging out of my nose after a ride on it.

Sorry I didn't quite quote that right. I am into a copy and paste phase considering i do it with appplications all the time these days. I must be really lazy.

"Defiantly" is a word, so your spell checker is not going to pick it up. Unfortunately, only the person typing knows whether they really want to say "defiantly" or "definitely." However, I must admit I find it inspiring that people will ride coasters in a rebellious, bold, and dare I say, a disobedient manner.

ridemcoaster's avatar

I would say thats definitely defiant :)

This is coasterbuzz, not spellingbuzz. You are all being "rediculous." ;)

I "should of" gone to a different site.

My season was pretty lame this year. I don't think I hit any new parks and the only new credit I got was El Toro (which was definitely the right one to get).

That's what having a pregnant wife and now a baby will do (though he made it to SFoT, our home park, at 5 weeks old).

Ah, but think about all the great amusement park trips you can look forward to. Speaking as a father myself, it's nice to have a ready-made accomplice-in-training. :)

If people would stop spelling "definitely" as *definatly*, then maybe their spell-checking programs would stop suggesting defiantly as a possible correction. ;)
