Not So SECRET!!!!!!!!!

Just wanted to add my perspective, that 'secret' forums are not exclusive to this board and are certainly not worth all of the fuss put forth.

This pretty much sums up my opinion of the subject.

If the private threads were invisible on the main page, this discussion wouldn't exist. That they are showing up doesn't mean that I think this discussion should exist, however. A lot of fuss over nothing.

I think this is what Jeff really wants to do! Except, he still wants the ad revenue. The next step is subscriptions with ads. *** Edited 11/6/2007 5:34:56 PM UTC by coasterguts***

A day at the park is what you make it!

B. Noble: But as we already well know in advance...

The 'question' wasn't really a question and it wasn't supposed to be 'answered.' It was a complaint that will be voiced over and over and over again, regardless of whether it bears any validity or was already discussed at length months or years ago.

Which is why we go in circles and circles over the same old things. Q-Bots and Fastpasses and I'm-not-coming-back-to-this-site/park/park chain-again-because-thus-and-so and this site/park/park chain will close because they don't do things my way and on and on we go. While GL's closing was a bit of a shock, what you'd see posted here was not.

Will I pipe in on those topics now and then? Sure! But usually with the verbal equivalent of a shoe thrown at a yowling cat in the alley. And frankly, I'm among the few of the paying folk who'll bother.

So if the paying folks wouldn't mind an area clear of the aforementioned dreck...why not?

OK, I'll bite. I'm dying to know the reason. Share with the group.

Get your in-before-closes in soon, because this thread has really become a waste of electricity.

I've never seen so many people post so passionately about something they don't really care about. Why some of you post on this site at all is completely beyond me.

Jeff - Editor - CoasterBuzz.com - My Blog

Meanwhile...I swear I've seen at least one person join the club just because of this thread.

Yes. Yessssssssssssss. Come to the Dark Side. We have peanut butter.

In addition to the pancakes and gravy? Or is that stuff only available here in the public forum?

Two separate coasterBizz communities are now being formed, dividing those who are willing to pay from those who are not.

Kind of my take on it too. Except... what happens when too many people join the club, it gets too "noisy" in the threads, and the "Gold Club", at say $45 a year, is rolled out?

...after I just said I wasn't going to share. There's no reason to. I had to add that little bit for my comment to make sense, that's all. It wasn't bait.

Suddenly you're surprised at how people get passionate over something they claim to care nothing about? Why? If there's one thing that's remained constant as long as I've been here, it's people entering into conversations that they claim not to care about... knowing well I'm guilty from time to time.

I dunno... I get the impression you like to think people have more of an issue with the site, you, the mods, whatever than they really do. Everything posted here is all for the sake of conversation, and nothing more. I doubt that any spend their late night hours drawing nasty pictures or otherwise plotting revenge on Coasterbuzz or some aspect of it. I know for a fact I don't. This is all in the name of fun. I post here because I enjoy the conversation on some level (what level depends on the conversation). I wouldn't be here if it caused my blood to boil, and frankly I'd be a little worried about someone that allowed it to get under their skin in that way.

Speak for yourself, Rob, I have quite a collection of mustache-defaced Jeff pictures at home.

Too bad Cafe Press doesn't offer a dartboard with the Coasterbuzz logo. I bet it would be a big seller! :)

Damn guys! This is like a MadTV sketch!

Complete with our own version of Debra Wilson!

matt, I took the diatribe about how the people who weren't paying or clicking on the (insipid) ads as the ones causing "all the trouble" and should just leave the site as being a wee bit antagonastic.

Funny that the first person to mention "asshattery" in the thread makes a "funny comment" about the name of the person who started the thread. Did you notice the part where the said he's a paying member? Talk about "asshattery to the second power!"

As far as noise goes, it's obvious that club members have created their share in many of the threads lately. Every thread about Q-bots and Geauga Lake would have never lasted as long as they did without the anti-noise crowd contributing as many decibels as they did. You all hate the threads, but how many times did you read them? how many posts did you contribute each time they came around again?

Rob, I agree with you. They're whining about all the noise "out here," but then they keep stopping by to whine some more. They walk in, flatulate, then complain that something smells. LOL

Playa,

Do you have Jelly, too? I only want in if there's Jelly. ;)

(Just couldn't resist the joke.)

Which flavor? :)

Grape is preferred, but... I'll take any. LOL.

I'm not picking on Dex, here - his quote just summed up things the best and it beat trying to quote bits and pieces from several people. With that said:

Here's the thing. Why is this the straw that broke the camel's back, so to speak?

Club members have been getting more from the start. That's the point - pay to join and get more in return.

Not a member of the club? You either had to pay to attend CB events or couldn't attend at all.

Club members get ride time, meals and other event perks.

Not a member of the club? Then you'll be forced to endure the ads, the ugly green color scheme and the default layout.

Club members get rid of ads and can change the colors and layout of the site.

Not a member of the club? No easy HW discount for you.

Club members got $13 off the gate price this year.

No one ever seemed to be mad that this divide has existed since the club was formed. But suddenly, one extra little forum is the thing that people have a problem with?

Seems so weird to me.

I am on blood pressure medication for that very reason. Doctor said I have some serious anger issues I need to deal with. :)

Ray P.

That's because there wasn't a big, bold SECRET behind it.

If I can't see it, I feel left out. Why am I left out? Do I need new deodorant? I have to pay!? Hell, I don't pay for music or movies on the web, why would I pay for this? Why do they consider this "noise"? Marcia, Marcia, Marcia! The aliens didn't make me pay for the anal probe. Hey! Watch where you're going! Quit talking to me! I won't kill them! No!

:)

Maybe Jeff should get rid of the Members Only forum, because reading some of this stuff is worth the $20 a year.

Not to trash the perks, but that's hardly exclusive to the Coasterbuzz Club. I'm a member of about five clubs that get me discounted Holiday World admission.
