Not So SECRET!!!!!!!!!

Wow!!!!

3 of the top threads are all marked SECRET!!!!!!

Just out of my own blatant, naked curiosity: what can be so SECRET!!! that you need 3 threads to cover these clandestine and covert issues?

Is your work here so super-duber-uber SECRETIVE!!! that it requires ostracizing your posting fan base and keeping them in the dark?? What about simply e-mailing each other about whatever your SECRETIVE!!!! issues are so that you can discuss them OUTSIDE of the confines of the existing board??

Then, you don't have all the threads labeled SECRET!!! and not taking up room in the top threads of the moment?

Or, is there some kind of Dr. Evil aspect to this I'm not getting? Like to feel omnipotent and all-knowing while the rest of the board wonders what could possibly be so interesting that it requires 3 threads to cover? Are there matters of national security we need to be worried about here???

INQUIRING MINDS WANT TO KNOW.

Come on up off the secrets now!!!!!!!!

There's a private forum for club members. Good grief.
I have been a PAID club member off and on for three years now and I've never been able to penetrate the inner mysteries of the SECRET!! threads.

It must be a pretty elite club is all I'm saying.

The movers and shakers of all things Coasterbuzz!

LOL

^^^Just read the titles of the secret whatever it's called. That's what they are talking about. *** Edited 11/2/2007 5:27:52 PM UTC by Spinout***
Well, then this begs the point: why would a discussion about, say, Shivering Timbers, be something that needs to be labeled secret!

Some of the "Secret" threads are mod issues - not many these days.

Some are podcast things - a few, usually weekly.

Most now are the new 'club members' forum - be a member of the CB club and you can access and post there.

And yes, you can click on the thread and see the 'real' title. But then you'll just be even more curious/pissed because you'll know when we're talking about you. ;)

I suspect that the default "SECRET" title will be changed when the new version of CB is unleashed. But that's my own suspicion - not word from Jeff.

^ Yeah, I'm real curious to check out the "SECRET" thread about construction starting at Michigan's Adventure.
If it's about amusement industry stuff, it's available on other sites or will become common knowledge soon enough. If it's about personal stuff, it's none of our business. If you really need to know that badly, join and find out how to gain access to the info. There have been secret forums since the day Coasterbuzz started paid memberships. It's not that big a deal.

Unless......I think I've got it......they're in a religious cult and are plotting to convert the rest of us!

The private thread label was probably set to SECRET! a long time ago. Now that more of these threads will exist, I'd imagine Jeff might change it to something not in all caps. Seems like it would be a parameter that could be changed pretty easily.

As for the new version of CB, there might be a fancier way of integrating the private with the public threads, but that all depends on how Jeff has implemented things.

Or you could just spend $20. :)

Or you could just not care? ;)

It could easily be changed to just not display threads in the recent threads where the user can't post.

Is it a waste of time? Yes, if it says SECRET! you can't access it, move on. Whether it's there or not, you can't access it. Just disregard it.

Simple.

When i was on this morning there was 4 of them on the front page. He should have a subforum for that stuff so they don't take over the homepage. It makes the site seem like a bunch a teenage girls talking to each other. Im waiting for the day when all the forum topics just say secret.lol

There has!? No one told me.

Look, there's no big conspiracy here.

Back in the day, there was always a private forum for the mods to communicate.

A second one was added when the podcast started for the purposes of those invovled with that.

From what I understand, Jeff has been toying with the idea of a CB Club members only forum for the new version of this site. It was a test run to gauge the interest/response. I assume it will be folded into the bigger scheme of things a little better when the new site does go live.

And continuing to speak for Jeff (which I have no authority to do :) ) - it looks to be a great idea based on the reactions.

Nothing more than an additional resource/perk for those members of the CB Club to see here. Move along. :)

See! There has been no assurance that there is no cult involved. I know I'm on to something here.

Oh, there's a cult!

Our bizarre ritual mostly involves bathing virgins in gravy. (which isn't too hard considering the enthusiast demopgraphic ;) )

I still can't believe we were able to find that much gravy, Gonch ;)

They're planning to close CBuzz! Just wait, in four years, Jeff will say, "Well CBuzz failed" but we'll know the truth! He sank it on purpose!

Hobbes: "What's the point of attaching a number to everything you do?"
Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."

Whew! I'm safe. I'm a huge virgin but, as a diabetic, my body rejects gravy.

There's probably more than a little truth to the "cult" notion, given the reaction that most of the g.p. has regarding coaster enthusiasts (see "The Simpsons" episode from earlier last year where enthusiasts were lampooned in the series).

Maybe it's a marketing platform by Jeff to get people to come up off $20 to join Coasterbuzz so that, they too can become part of the SECRET! cult and feel worthy.

Then they, too, can participate in the proliferation of SECRETS! and feel part of a larger socially interactive network of coaster geeks.

And maybe get dates, too!!!

It probably feels that way, but that's not it. All you have to do is see the description on the forum page - it says it all. :)

And like I said, based on some of the screen names I'm seeing there and the reactions of all...Jeff is on to something.
