No re-entry at Sux Flags this Year

^ Until they have a mass uprising from paying guests. Then they will install a queue to get into Guest Services and have a person waling the line selling fast passes to go right to the front of the disgruntled customer line.

LOL. It'll get people out of lines for the rides and they will make more money selling fastpasses too. ;)

But seriously, as word of this gets out, attendance will drop (if not plummet). I mentioned the possibility of this new rule here to coworkers at my office and not one person said they agreed with it with differing reasons why (all of which have been covered here).

Gonch, Heres how it will be accepted over time.

Each and every day 1/4 of the people will get pissed enough not to come back, Ever. 3/4 ths will come back with 1/4th of them getting pissed off the next time and not comming back.

Looks to me that by august a Cre-Ho could probably sweep a major SF park in about a hour due to low attendance.

Chuck

I dont see the problem here. Anythign that you would normally have to go to your car for can be kept in a locker.

At great adventure atleast if you have a season pass you will still be allowed to leave and reenter.

This only effects one day passes.

What is the big deal. Obviously if you state that Food i nthe aprk is not expensive then you prob have a season pass anyway.

I just dont understand the problem.

IS this more of the Useless Sixflags bashing?

Do you know how much lockers cost at those parks? Instead of paying 10 bucks for an all-day locker to hold my stuff (especially in parks that have a waterpark included), I'd rather just not go. I'm not going to visit their properties if I end up paying to be treated like an inmate.
I was shocked how much front gate lockers cost last time I was at a SF park. I'm pretty sure it was $10.

I agree with PhantomTails. If they have a no re-entry policy along with such outragous prices it's just not worth the treatment.

Real Cbuzz quote of the day - "The classes i take in collage are so mor adcanced then u could imagen. Dont talk about my emglihs" - Adamforce
I thought at great adventure its only $6 dolalrs for an all day locker.

What do you have to store in your locker?

When i go i only have my keys, and my wallet.

Nothing else. My wallet has chain and my keys go in my zippered pocket.

What do you possibly need to get from your car?

And if they're trying to stop people from leaving the park to eat or stashing food in the car, why not figure out why people are avoiding eating in the park and fix that. If they do a good job fixing it, they won't have to force people to stay in the park, they'll do it voluntarily! There are some parks where I look forward to eating their food, and others that I dread, either it is crap or it costs too much, or both.
Just remember this disclaimer, those of you advocating lockers: Six Flags is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

A day at the park is what you make it!

I've never used a locker in an amusement park in my life.

EDIT - I take that back. At SFMM it was just myself and my wife and we had a souvenir drink cup that I wanted to keep. I had to use a locker in the X station to ride.

Major Tom.

Do you actually pay for your visits?

Sorry to be one of the people which are probably half the people in the world that have to do things on a budget.

A locker, Parking and food and drinks three times higher than outside the park all add to the cost of a trip.

Take your wife and two kids to the park.
$10 parking
$180 addmissions
Dinner in the park for four $60
Two drinks each for the day at $4 a drink $32 and
Two lockers at $5 each for $10

$272, Now you can get around some of that by having drinks in the car. Pack a lunch ect and probably do it for about $220

Question is, As a park, Would you rather have the family pay $220 and be happy at the end of the day to come back and do that every year or get the $272 and take a chance that the family will never visit again.

This policy does nothing other than encourage the latter while roughly half were gonna spend the $272 anyhow.

Chuck, who shouldn't HAVE TOO get a locker as part of his park experience.

OK but is it really safer in your car ? Last I checked at great adventure their parking lot security is almost non existant.

What re you bringing into the park anyway?

How about inclement weather? A freak summer storm pops up, guests decide to head for their car/hotel and come back after the weather passes?

Just a bad policy all around if you ask me.

I had a bad experience with Hershey Park last year and lockers. I went to the park, brought my camera in, was going to use a locker and the locker key didn't have a wrist band. Didn't want to store it in my pocket, didn't want to leave my camera on the unload platform and didn't have anyone else with me. That meant a special trip back to my car. Not a fun walk!!!

A day at the park is what you make it!

Ok time to chime in here about the rules as they pertain to GAdv. It seems that 80% of any given day's attendance may not be affected by this policy. How do I say this? Look at the people who can come and go as they please. People who have a Six Flags Pass and anyone with more than a THEME PARK ONLY TICKET. Isn't that a majority of the people at GADv?

Watch the tram car please....
Yes I do pay for my stuff.

With your children what do you bring into the park with you ?

But are you taking into consideration the price that it cost you in food for that lunch? I bet your not.

Also at great adventure I can eat at Best of the West for 11 dollars per person including drinks. Cheaper than that for a childrens meal.

You can even get a funnel cake at 4 dollars and water about $2.50 wich is about $6.50 at great adventure to eat.

This might not be the case with the other six flags parks but its not that big of a deal at Great Adventure.

They even Have pizza wich is pretty cheap or you can eat at the italian place behind the chilelr and get some things cheap there.

Six Flags says they are not responsilbe for what is left in cars. But anyway, I think practically speaking most people don't bother leaving the park. This is because most people who don't have season passes don't bother to walk in and out. Perhaps this policy though will help to fix a serious security lapse at Great Adventure. Last time I was there I had to go back to the car to get my wallet or something. While I had to pass through security on the way in and at opening, they didn't check again at the reentry gate!
It's already been mentioned majortom. Go back and read the reasons.

It could be raining at the begining of the day and stop and get sunny, You wanna just throw your rain gear in the car.

NOPE sorry, Now you gotta pay $10 for a locker or tote it around all day.

All Im saying, Why take a chance at loosing buisness?

Chuck, who says you gotta quit thinking like a local who knows all the secrets of the park because my meal at Grannys in 2001 cost me $17 with the drink and salad.

Why not carry the jacket with you ?

Why not bring a light jacket that wont bather you taht much in the heat ?

On kk put it on , or at places like nitro keep it in the cubby?

There is nothing stopping you from carrying the jacket around but pure lazyness.

When i was a little kid my parents made me carry my jacket around with me. I complained I got yelled at .

Also If your a season pass hodler or multi park ticket hodler for great adventure they will still be letting you go back to your car and reenter.

Its only for single park ticket holders this effects.

Why did you eat at grannies? There are other cheaper places in the park to eat.

When i go if it looks like its going to rain I

bring a jacket with me.

IF your car is in the back of the parking lot and it rains you have to go all the way to your car and get it. By the time you get back to your car you will be soaked anyway.

It's not just what you take in but also what you gather during the day.

Here's what I'd be leaving the park with assuming I couldn't return to my car during the course of the day:

Keys
Credit Cards
Cash/Change
Cell Phone
Camera Bags
Changes of clothes for 4 (in case of weather, accident or water ride)
Sunblock
Medication
Souvenir Cups
Gift Shop Trinkets/Souvenirs for the kids
Any game prizes won
On-ride photos
Park map/brouchure
ticket stubs

I find myself arguing both side of this one. I do think it's a stupid policy, but I also know it generally won't affect me. I have no problem with paying for food and such at the park and have never packed a lunch and eaten in the car in an attempt to save what amounts to a few bucks. I do like to break-up the day a little especially if the park is nuts and we do like to run items we pick up back to the car.

I did toss the idea out to a few casual park goers (or as we like to say the GP) and no one seemed really phased by the idea at all and one actually said they already thought you couldn't leave a park and re-enter.

So who knows?

I'd still love to sit and watch the people at the gate try to explain to someone why they can't leave (or get back in, or get a handstamp) while people around them are doing it.

This policy is being instituted for one reason and one reason only. Money!!! Get the guest that's only going to spend one day with us and one day only and get them for everything their worth while they're inside the park. Look for a lot of signs on your way into the park that says Single Day Ticket Holders can not re-enter the park after leaving. It's being used to make people think really think hard about that season pass. It's not about capacity, crowds are not something I hear about being a problem at Great Adventure.

A day at the park is what you make it!

Tickets stubs,cash/change credit cards/keys park map brochure can all be put in your wallet or pocket.

Why not jsut buy the Souvenirs on the way out of the park ?

Any refrigerated medicine can be kept at the first aid station. Any pills can be bought in a pill holder in your pocket or wifes/gfs pocket book.

THe only thing that I see is prizes one but you can do those games last and then go to your car to leave.

I am sure that if you really had to go to your car that you can go to guest services to get a hand stamp to come back in.

BUT i dont see that much of a problem. People with kids I dont think would want to stay al lday anyway with there kids nagging them and stuff.
