The coaster industry needs to come out with some new things, for example Maurier Schone with their new design of cars. Spinning cars on hypers, mouse cars on inverts, S&S squirrel coaster where the hairpin turns actually turn the car inverted and right side up on each turn. Otherwise, in about 20 to 30 years the enthusiasts and the GP will be very bored with the theme park industry.
I think we have really exhausted the track types, (although that is a pretty non idealistic approach) - I mean we haven't seen a coaster that right side up is when the track is turned at 90 degrees, but I can't think of much else that we haven't seen. I am probably being a naive american right now but what ever.
So that really leaves us to the cars. The way we ride things can enhance the ride, but also be very gimmicky. I mean to see a louge (sorry about spelling) style would enhance the feeling of speed. But there are almost endless opportunities with the car when there is only so high we can go, and so many ways that we can turn ourselves upside down. And soon after we have exhausted all ride types, the motion simulator (improved) will be a very good friend.

MF cost under $24m, man :)
The last comment reminded me of coaster TV shows from the late 80's (remember Nova?) All these "experts" claimed that there could be pretty much nothing else new with coasters and that we would all be riding simulators and not coasters by now :) *** Edited 3/30/2004 6:30:39 AM UTC by Peabody***
"Race for the Sky" - TTD
Kyle Says: Diamondback was a lot of fun! Made his first time at Kings Island worth it all!
I'll keep my mouth shut on the space issue, to say that MiA needs to get that new coaster, but they won't until other problems are taken care of.
Hey, where are the other MiA people this time of year?

Changing subjects, for TTD, was it the hydraulic launch system that accounted most for the cost of the coaster, or how much did the height of the coaster account for the cost?

Theming? Not for CP...it's not their thing, and hasn't done well for them in the past. CP knows it is other park's strength and it won't be theirs. They have there niche :) Although I'd love to see it, CP will also probably never have the money to do theming like an E-ticket ride. *** Edited 4/1/2004 7:06:32 AM UTC by Peabody***
