New trains for RWB!

Yay, G trains! Better than a divider ridden, Lapbar stapleing PTC anyday.

Chuck, one of the few and proud!

Even if SFWoA wanted to run 2 trains on RWB, I'm sure they wouldn't buy Legend's train, because if you look at its design, it looks completely different from the typical G-train with its lack of the classic-styled black bars. In fact, from far away I've always thought Legend's g-train looked like a PTC.

I put the "D" in DDR.

Im sure that is easily rectified by replacing the noses on each car.

And you think they would do that? I dunno...it just seems like the effort they'd have to put in to change the train style would make adding a second train to such a low-drawing ride infeasible in the first place.

Chuck, visit Atlanta, ride GASM (buzz bars) and Ga Cyclone (stiff return springs). A great twister and a terrific CLASSIC out-and-back on the water. PTCs that run excellent.

Brent, you're just *insane*. Villain's G-trains were OK because there wasn't a lot a laterals. Legend I thought went way up with the PTCs specifically because of the laterals on Will's double-helix....maybe you and Chuck are just *sadists*, LOL. Hey, I heard there was a bunch of fundamentalist infantilists around here the other day, so ya better watch out....sacreligious coaster fanatics, what crazies hang out around here anyway....;)

My thoughts exactly Chris. I don't think they plan on having a capacity king. I really doubt they would go to such trouble for such a limited pay off.

BTW Bill, remember my favorite element in all coasterdom is the Rib Breaking pop of lateral air heading into Twisters helix.

Also I never said I liked G's better just that I don't mind them. Legend was fine with them, in fact I have yet to ride the PTC version and Legend is still one of my number ones.

RWB has so much potential, it will be great if this is the kick it needed.

Im going to say something that might take critisim but so be it.

IMHO PTC's on Legend made a untouchably great coaster just another GOOD coaster.

The fun of it was practically rideing in the other persons lap! Enter Dividers and bars that hurt you on the double up and that thrill is gone!

Watch the extreme rides 2002 with Jeff in paulas lap and them giggling like crazy.

Phrase from 2001 SRM, "I was airborne around that entire last curve" reply from co-rider, :Good cause I was in your seat!"

Chuck, who really thinks PTC makes a good product but hates dividers because wood coasters were never made to run with them. I still like Legend, just not as much.

How do you make one of the worst coasters in the world even worse? Put Gerstlaurers on it.

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad SFWoA is attempting to improve this ride somehow. I just really don't think G-trains, the most uncomfortable things I've ever ridden in short of a little red wagon, are the way to do it.

You do realize the coaster has been completely reprofiled and retracked don't you?

------------------

They should have bought some GCI Flyer trans.
From what I understand, half the ride has been retracked. But what does that have to do with anything? Gerstlaurers are uncomfortable, plain and simple. They are especially brutal on twisters, and they tear rides apart. They take turns/corners especially poorly, like there's no give to the trains at all (they "slam" on every turn). It doesn't matter if the ride has been retracked if the trains are crappy and uncomfortable and rip it back apart within a year.

My point is that its not just teh trains. And G's or not anything is better then the trailered PTCs that were on it before.

I dont know why I even bother with someone who has your IQ anyway.

I suppose that makes me a Moron too

Wow, it's funny how much opinions vary on the Gersts. I thought they ran amazingly WELL on Villain the first season. I don't personally find them all that uncomfortable, although they could certainly use a bit more padding, especially on twisters.

On the other hand, I DO think that the PTCs make Legend even bettern (mostly for that padding reason). *shrug*

So because I think Gerstlaurers are crappy trains I have a low IQ? Okay.

When someone digresses to the point of petty insults and childish name-calling aimed at someone who disagrees with you on a message board, it becomes clear enough who the moron is. Grow up.

-Nate

Whose the one who says Ron Toomer was a Moron? Seems liek some people can't take what the dish out.

Calling Ron Toomer a moron is just ignorant hence the IQ comment.

Ron Toomer isn't here. I didn't call him up and call him a moron, or post it outside his house where he was sure to see it. Perhaps "moron" was a harsh term, but I can't help it when I see how many crappy rides came out of that man's hands, and how many big-time screw ups were (needlessly and stupidly) his fault. If you can't deal with someone completely unrelated to you being called a "moron", maybe you need to get some help.

Edit: Sorry to hijack the thread, back to your regularly scheduled program

I think there was a rumor on Screamscape saying that RWB will get G-trains and Villian will have RWB PTCs.
That would be disasterous for Villain.

The only way to salvage the PTC trains from Raging Wolf Bobs would be to completely redesign the back axle of all but the lead car. Push the axle back to a position under the car's back bumper and the train would run a lot like a GCI train, but as it is now, those PTCs will tear up any curve they run over.

On the Wolf Bobs, the Gerstlauer will tear the track up, but it shouldn't tear the track up as much as the PTC does. It's a lighter car, and while it still can't handle curves, at least it won't actively fight the curves as is squeals around them.

--Dave Althoff, Jr.

I happen to think Gerstlauer trains are great, but the seats and lapbars need a LOT of work. And Charles, I have never been stapled in a PTC train, only in Villian, Magnum, Gemini. With the exception of Ghostrider when the ride-op actually used her FOOT to push down on my lapbar. I am usually able to stand up in PTC trains without a problem.
