New SBNO: Joker's Revenge at SFFT

Well after making the first trip to the park this year I wanted to report to all of you that we have another SBNO coaster. After noticing that Joker's Revenge wasn't listed on this year's map I made an inquiry at Guest relations. They told me that Joker's Revenge was permanently closed due to "guest comfort" issues. A walk by confirmed the permanent nature of this situation as the blocked off path was marked by a sign announcing that a new Brutal Planet attraction would open during Fright Fest in the funhouse building that served has the coasters queue . Another coaster bites the dust. I just hope that means another coaster is coming. In other news Poltergeist seems to be getting lap bars, as it was closed for improvements.

Thanks for the update. What other coasters does SFFT have?

-----------------
Cedar Point fans and Magic Mountain fans unite. Let's sign a rollercoaster treaty.

They have Superman:Kryton Coaster a B&M floorless; Poltergeist, a non-enclosed Premier spaghetti bowl; The Rattler, a woodie; a Boomerang; RoadRunner Express an Arrow mine-train, and a Vekoma Rollerskater.
Poltergeist won’t open for a long time! They received a train with lap bars from Premier earlier this week. Fiesta had the cars and called them back saying that they didn’t look right. Premier answered saying that they were fine. So Fiesta got ready to put it on the track and called them back asking again if they were ok to run. They responded by saying they are fine. So they put it on the track. Called them back asking if it was ok to launch the thing, they just don’t look right still. Premier answered by saying they were absolutely fine and were good to launch. So Fiesta fired up the coaster, and hit the launch. The LIMs opened and BAM! The car ripped apart the whole system. Ouch! Doesn’t look like Poltergeist will be open for a while. :(
According to guest relations it looks like Poltergeist will be on hiatus for two months now.

UltraTwisted, I suppose you have photographic evidence to support this tale, seeing that the park is open to GP and all. Well?

No I don't. But I was told this by a VERY reliable source. You don't have to beleive me if you don't want too. I don't really care is someone that I don't know or never going meet does not beleive me. I do think it is true however.

They only have 4 coasters in opperation now. Boomerang, Superman:KC, and Roadrunner Express, and their kiddie coaster. Rattler is down for re-hab. Poltergeist is down, and Joker is out. I will be going to the park next month, so it makes me kinda upset.

He is correct. The coaster ripped off 6 bogeys and 4 LIMs I believe, although someone else told me it was more than that.

ouch
How did it rip off the LIM's? That sounds bad. Also, don't you think that they might be giving Joker's Revenge new trains? Its only "guest comfort." Oh yeah, and what are bogeys?

Maybe Joker's Revenge is getting lap bars! HaHa thats a funny thought.

800,000 years in 7 seconds: Time Machine the movie or next S&S creation?

Such a wild mishap on the Premier coaster is a little hard to believe without photo proof. Funny story even if it's not true.

Unless we hear or see something official, I'm afraid it will have to be filed with Magnum sinking and the time one of Demon Drop's cars flew off and crashed into a ticket booth.

I don't doubt it's down for a reason, but it could just be that the train isn't back yet!

I'm not calling anyone a liar, but isn't it funny how many of our wackiest rumors have come from "very reliable sorces"? Again, the SFFT thing may be true, I don't know! :)

The Premier coaster is getting adjustments, like ALL of them went throught. I think its best to wait and see if Six Flags will have an opening date, rather than play engineer. The Premier ride will be great when it is finished. 3rd and 4th party rumors are getting out of hand.

poltergiest is getting lap bars not joker. Joker is a vekoma.

What is it with parks not letting us have a final ride or at least telling us it's the last season so ride while you can I mean this year we've lost DRACHEN FIRE KING COBRA WINDJAMMER and now things don't look good for JOKER'S REVENGE I know the parks owe us nothing but you think they might let the fans of their rides say goodbye SFOG did with VIPER and didn't KENNYWOOD let people kow STEEL PHANTOM WAS LEAVING

Doesnt JOKER'S REVENGE run backwards mabe it would be more comfy if they just turned it around

John - exactly what I was thinking...why not just run the trains FORWARD on JR?

2002 - the year of LoCoSuMo!!

I heard the same story from a few different places, but 'source' is a member of the (soon to be whenever it is ready) Poltergeist crew. The trains arrived from Premier and looked 'funny' to maintanence, and Premier was called up. They said everything was fine: go ahead and run the coaster. They fired it off and boom, big mishap. I'm not saying you have to believe me, but you probably will when its another month or two before it opens :)

Umm... well, Joker's Revenge isn't just rough, but it's also a very boring ride. Lift. Drop. Loop. Helix. Corkscrews. Helix. Brakes.

I say SFFT needs to put a flying coaster in its spot! Just imagine flying on the quarry cliff, then diving down into the quarry. Now, wouldn't that be just AWESOME?!

The fact that the trains ran backwards was about the only thing this ride had going for it. Very short, not really anything unique or imaginative, and it was very rough. No one should really shed any tears about not getting one last ride. There's plenty of Arrow corkscrews out there that offer the same experience without going backward.

Sorry, Starcoaster, but that story still doesn't sound right. I can't imagine that they would not have manually pushed the cars through the LIM run to check their alignment. Call me crazy, but that would be one of the first things I would do, especially if something didn't look right.

stealing good ideas is part of the fun of life...why not run TWO trains, one forward, one backward. Freedom of choice! Never having gone on a backwards steelie, other than the obvious shuttles, I know which one I'd pick....

Hopefully Rattler and Poltergeist will be up and running soon. The spaghetti bowls really WERE pretty bangy before the retrtofit. Even though PKI's FoF is the only Premier I've ridden with the retro (The Chiller being closed when we visited SFGAdv), I really see Premier as having a real future now...can't say I did beore...

Last note: bigboy, you're CRAZY! You did ask...;)
